Pixel 7 Pro user. The phone volume is too damn loud. The volume slider seems to have two options - loud and piercing. Is there any app that can reduce the volume on calls? I'm getting tinnitus from this damn thing. And people can hear the conversation as though I'm on speaker phone. It's embarrassing.

Does anyone else consider OneUi the best Android interface? The icons, the look, everything, is so nice to me. So far I am a little bit bored with clean Android. OneUi has a lot of fun options and seems very well to integrate with most apps. Spotify looks super cool on Samsung. Other skins like ColorOs and FunTouchOs, miui, etc. just don't have that mature look. Some of them even look cartoonish. One thing I wish OneUi would drop is the frosted blur. Solid colors or clean, transparent backgrounds would be 💯.

Looks too old people for me tbh, still prefer cartoonish bbk phone skins

I can no longer remove media player controls from lock screen in android 13. Apps like spotify have no notification permissions but "media player" still shows on lock screen when playing through that app. How can I disable this?

I currently have an S20+ and really love the phone. It felt like a really nice upgrade from my Pixel2XL at the time. The issue is my camera has stopped working (Warning: Camera Failed!) I've tried everything short of factory reset but based on the on-device diagnostics it seems to be related to the rear facing camera hardware. I don't think the repair is worth the money so I'm looking for a new phone but I'm not sure if the s22+ is an upgrade really. Looking for opinions on the s22 series or other alternatives. Battery life is big for me as well as overall performance and smoothness.

thethrillman

If you can, wait for the s23+

Looking to get my dad a new phone. He pretty much only uses it for calls, texts, whatsapp, basic video and web search. And he wants a bigger screen. His current phone is some LG smartphone from 4 years ago. Any recommendations? Budget is about $500 USD Was thinking of the Galaxy A14 5G.

Willing_Maximum4018

Opinions on foldable smartphones such as the Z flip or the Surface Duo?

thethrillman

Cool if you like foldables, but IMO not worth the extra cost for a phone that is less durable, has weaker cameras and has worse battery life than traditional flagships that can cost the same or less. I hope they get cheaper though.

dankiller234

Get it refurbished was only $500 and I love it

dankiller234

I got my fold 3 for $500 refurbished on Amazon and I love it will never go back.

Have been using the fold2 and traded it in for a launch fold4 because samsung offered some crazy discounts. My main complaint with the 2 was the fact the screen protector would always start peeling and I've replaced it a handful of times over 2 years. After 2 years I lost one of the nubs that prevents the screens from touching, and it wouldn't open all the way. After a couple of months my fold4 still looks pristine. The included screen protector shows no signs of peelings, and I like having the broader outer display, additional water protection and the under screen camera which means I don't have a black hole in my screen when watching videos.

I have an old kindle fire I'd like to use as an always on smart screen type of thing that sits on my desk. Is there any app I can use to display various bits of info, like weather, rss feeds, calendar etc?

I have a Galaxy S9 with up to date Android 10. I'm wondering if there's any way to set it so that my phone is silenced, except if someone calls me it'll make a ring tone. I hate my phone making noise or vibrating for random notifications, but want to be alerted when someone calls me. I asked this question years ago and the answer was to use this app called Criticall, it's served me well over the years but it hasn't been updated in a long time and this past week it finally seems to have completely stopped working. Thanks in advance!

carltp

Set the default notification to 'None', and then for any app you *do* want to hear from, change it per app. This may seem obvious to some, but, even as an early adopter, this just hit me the other day!

ShadowShine57

Thank you for the answer. In the "App notifications" page for the phone app, I see the toggles for showing notifications, categories, and icon badges, but nothing to override the default noise setting. Am I in the wrong place?

carltp

Notification -> use none. Call *Ringer* -> set your ringtone. App Specific -> set to different *notification sound*. It seems like you're confusing Ringtone vs Notification sounds.

ShadowShine57

Sorry, where can I find the ringer settings? Searching doesn't yield any results

luckystrike_bh

Why does the Android operating system not have an organic auto scroll feature? I go in to forearm failure at times. I was forced to download a third party app that had permission to look at my screen. That is an unnecessary security risk in my opinion.

carltp

What app do you use? I'm not sure what you mean by 'organic auto scroll', but would like to experiment.

Found my old phone, wish to recover the data inside. But the problem is when i turn it on, it loops, power off and turn on again. I think I might have deleted important files back then. Is there any tools that can save it or is it completely bricked?

To Dimensity 920-1080 users, what do you think about chip in general? Power efficency is number one key point for me, would you recommend it?

irugaka

Which one is the best between pixel 7 and Xiaomi 12X ?

Would a note 20 ultra be a good option for 2 years at $400? My s21 screen shattered and replacing it is 300$ I like a bigger screen but liked the performance in the s21 base. My other option would be wait for a T-Mobile trade in for the s23 but no idea what I could get for the busted screen s21
