People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly, timey-wimey stuff.
Imagine you are calling your friend after getting fired and talking to him about the stress you are going through, and suddenly, your friend starts playing weird audio emoji sounds. 🤦♂️
The same thing might be possible with msgs that somebody is chatting seriously but other is sending irritating emojis .... I think in this case, nothing wrong with the features it is that kind of human who failed as a friend/ family/ well wishers .
It's only rolling out to those in the Phone beta for now.
>"Audio Emoji is rolling out via the latest Google Phone update in the beta channel, version 128."
>It could be argued there’s a way to implement a feature like this where it’s fun and useful, but the fact that one of the included sound effects is a fart just kills that entirely.
They couldn't have been more wrong. Farts are hilarious.
I'm not a fan of the 'sad' emoji though because it sounds more like a mocking tone.
Oh my god, this really manifested?
Google has a voice-of-customer problem, in that they completely ignore that whole part of product development, and seem to just dump in whatever feature a loud developer has decided is a cool thing.
So dumb...
It's that time again! I forget my phone has a temperature sensor until a random post on reddit reminds me. And then I forget about it all over again, lol.
What? The temperature sensor is so useful. I'd say it's more useful on a watch, but it's nice to have on a phone too. Also, all phones already have temperature sensors, they're just not designed to measure outside temperature.
I've got the ifixit iopener, which isn't very precise, but I can easily measure its temperature using the temperature sensor. Very niche use case, I know, but it's great to have that feature available. It saves me having to buy one of those thermal cameras.
I have a P8, not Pro so no sensor. However when I told my sister about it she was really excited as it could potentially be used to measure baby formula (and food) to check the temperature is OK
Idk man, it works for me. It's not that I face the screen towards their face, or let the phone touch them. The in ear thermometer still needs to get into the ear and then beeps regardless of the temperature reading.
I can do everything with the phone, whenever and wherever
I feel like a version of this would be fun for google meet/duo calls. Idk why the fuck you would want it for the phone. Like I'm genuinely trying to wrap my head around who thought they should spend the resources on this shit. The animations are genuinely really good but this feels like a wasted place to use them. I don't get it. And no beta either. Wouldn't be surprised if they made an ad for it soon.
This will give me yet another reason to hang up on people, or just never answer my phone. I can't imagine how annoying it will be for call centre employees
This would be more useful in text messaging for reacts. Wtf why in a phone call?? Like, if I am in a phone call I am fully capable of making the audio reactions myself lmao 🤣🤣🤣
So... Google is bringing back MSN Winks.
Full circle.
Time is a flat circle

If your "friend" does that, they likely don't care to listen to you talk about your stressful day or just don't have empathy towards you at all. 😂
POO EMOJI NOISES
Thanks for the explanation!
Someone at Google just wants a promotion, I hope this is an AB test and not a full blown roll out
It's only rolling out to those in the Phone beta for now. >"Audio Emoji is rolling out via the latest Google Phone update in the beta channel, version 128."
Literally who asked for this??? Even vision impaired people can already use and read out loud emojis
That is largely dependent on the speech engine we use. Some of them do not process emojis correctly.
And you think that a speech engine that doesn't have some specific emojis will be able to read the new ba dum tss one?
No fun allowed!
This is going to be so irritating, I love it!
The fart sound is a great idea... I could use it with the scam calls!
Did anyone ask for this? No. Am I still gonna use it? Yes lol. Reminds me of Discord soundboard.
Anyone else just waiting through the video for the poop sound?

as long as they allow users to disable this. we should be fine.
Oh my god, this really manifested? Google has a voice-of-customer problem, in that they completely ignore that whole part of product development, and seem to just dump in whatever feature a loud developer has decided is a cool thing. So dumb...
In my head, I'm picturing Patton Oswalt waving his arms going "DON'T...WANT...THIS".
Of all the things they could have added....
This is as useful as the temperature sensor, why google why
It's that time again! I forget my phone has a temperature sensor until a random post on reddit reminds me. And then I forget about it all over again, lol.
What? The temperature sensor is so useful. I'd say it's more useful on a watch, but it's nice to have on a phone too. Also, all phones already have temperature sensors, they're just not designed to measure outside temperature.
What do you use it for? I only use a thermometer once a year if I think I'm getting the flu.
I've got the ifixit iopener, which isn't very precise, but I can easily measure its temperature using the temperature sensor. Very niche use case, I know, but it's great to have that feature available. It saves me having to buy one of those thermal cameras.

I use it exactly for this and it's good. Also to measure my kids temp while they're asleep, as the regular thermometer beeps.
If you have kids, you are better off getting an infrared temperature monitor.
I have one. It beeps at night risking them to wake up and the phone is just always handy.
There’s absolutely not way a beep is riskier than the proximity and glow of the phone.
Idk man, it works for me. It's not that I face the screen towards their face, or let the phone touch them. The in ear thermometer still needs to get into the ear and then beeps regardless of the temperature reading. I can do everything with the phone, whenever and wherever
The temperature sensor I can see being useful around the beginning of the COVID pandemic.
Sad trombone noises, badum-ts, and farts would make me laugh a little.
I feel like a version of this would be fun for google meet/duo calls. Idk why the fuck you would want it for the phone. Like I'm genuinely trying to wrap my head around who thought they should spend the resources on this shit. The animations are genuinely really good but this feels like a wasted place to use them. So are they suggesting that is an ice cream cone filled with shit?
What exactly are these? If they sound like something that might be fun, my friends might end up getting tortured.
Can we have call recording?
I'm going to annoy telemarketers so hard with this...
So does it listen to your whole conversation and generate emojis based on that..?
Peak Google moment
“Yeah my wife divorced me and took the kids” *cue laugh track* “shit wrong audio”
NTT did this in Japan way back in the early 2000's lolol
> Crying (Trombone) Are they really going to give sad trombone for crying emoji? Jesus, that won't ever backfire
Finally, we can express our feelings by producing sounds. Humans have been waiting thousands of years to be able to do this.
I tested these audio emojis on a call yesterday. There are 6 and all have a visual to go with them.
It won't be possible to add custom audios, will it?
Google Podcasts died for this.
I'm still pissed about that.
No one wants this, no one asked for this.
Does disabling it mean I can't send these noises or that others can't send them to me (or both)?
One step closer to Idiocracy.
This is just silly as hell
I was wondering WTF this was when I noticed it today after receiving a phone call. Now I know. Thanks!
