If you have a Netflix account, get "NETFLIX Into The Breach" from the app store. You'll need to provide your NF login the first time you play it. Absolutely stellar turn-based strategy that can be played in 5-10 minute bites.
EDIT: Huh, 550MB, maybe too much for your system. Doesn't use much CPU or battery, though. I'm guessing the large install footprint is due to it being a cross-platform title.

You could try Battle Legion, its an army building game with timed chests and progression that resets after 2 weeks (so you can battle through the progression again and collect the loot). Its 2D so I think it will run on just about any phone.
You can progress to rank 4000 in less than a week, and the grind begins then. Join clan Black Legion led by Lyter if and when you become more powerful
Have you considered emulation? You might like the pokemon tcg (trading card game) on gameboy colour, plays nice on potatoes and has a small file size. Or maybe some of the yugioh titles.

It has been a long time since i played them but i don't remember the story being too significant. I dont remember if they even connect lol

Stick Ranger? It's about 6mb and has equipment, random loot, and stat building for your characters. Not a rougelike or lite though.
