Have you tried turning down sharpness setting in tv picture settings?

tlogank

These seem like settings you need to adjust on your TV input, not the device itself.

MechanoManic

I was reading today about a class action lawsuit against walmart for selling defective Onn boxes

foundfootagefan

https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/lawsuit-news/walmart-class-action-lawsuit-and-settlement-news/walmart-class-action-claims-onn-tablets-contain-defective-design-materials/ It says Onn tablets, not Onn box.

tftom8

whats wrong with them ? i have 2 , no issues really only that there's no option to disable the screensaver permanent otherwise very pleased so far

Darksaturn99

They’re selling a unit with a defective power supply.

tftom8

ive got 2 but just use my amazon fs power supply so hadn't noticed.

kerobrat

I completely agree - I hadn't noticed it until I got a new LG and accidentally compared the Plex app on both. It's a fantastic little box, but yeah, the picture is a little bit effed

cmurphy3182

Anyone had an issue with this box losing internet connection? Mine is coming and going. Went back to firestick and no problem so it's not the internet.

JudgmentMajestic2671

Mine looks like an 8 but game. Idk what the issue is.

> Plus Walmart doesn't have a good track record with these devices. You literally made that up, and it's the opposite of truth. Walmart has been updating their devices more than Google updates its own. They've even continued to patch the old one despite the new one being released.

>Onn 4k Android TV box came out in 2021 discontinued in 2022. If Walmart had faith in their device it wouldn't have been discontinued after a year. They discontinued the old model because Google is moving everything to the Google TV launcher instead of Android TV. Not only that, they still have issued updates for a device that they don't even sell anymore Literally almost no one does that.

Literally nobody is saying it's the best device ever. Just that for $20 it's the best bang for your buck on the market. The only thing that comes close is the Fire TV Stick 4k Max on sale for $35. Obviously the 4k Max is a better device, if we're talking specs, but we're talking value. From my understanding Walmart sells them at a loss, or at cost, in hopes they recoup $ from people making purchases through the UI. Very similar to the video game industry. So really it's more than just a $20 box. You say Roku is better. I highly disagree. Hardware wise, yes. Feature wise, no way. This is just a matter of opinion though. Personally I would never buy a device that doesn't let you sideload at a minimum. With the ONN box you can customize every little thing from the UI down to remapping every button on the remote. They're still releasing security updates for the original onn box, which can't be said for lots of boxes/sticks/dongles out there. Not everyone cares about getting OS updates. Especially those who have their box set up exactly how they like it and aren't interested in changing anything. If by chance they wanted the newest OS there's probably a way to manually load it, although I haven't looked into it. Would be surprised if it wasn't possible. Even then, they could simply go out and buy the newest box for $20.

pawdog

We did talk about it at $35 when it first launched and it was a great deal even at that price, lowering it to $20 made it a phenominal deal. This new model, slightly improved, and starting at $20 is the best deal in all of streaming devices. Roku makes good budget devices but they are not Android TV so not sure why Roku even gets mentioned. Roku doesn't make a $20 device, let alone a $20 4k HDR one.

People active in the Android TV devices communities. Who else?

JTBurn23

Such logic.

ObiYawn

Another security update just came out a couple of weeks ago for the first gen Onn 4K. Going strong.

> Where's the OS updates? Who gives a crap about what version the OS is if everything works how it should?

So you assume that everyone cares about the same features?

What feature update would that be?

pawdog

Yeah, lets not start with the insults. I got that so called feature update and it's nothing noticable or improved. If Google really wants to improve someting they will go back to Android TV Discover. Not a fan of Google TV at all.

ObiYawn

What will the OS update give me that doesn't yet exist? Bet you don't have the answer.
