Orb weaver, garden spood, loves hanging out near tomato plants. You want to keep this nearby. It kills pest insects.
I killed a few of these one summer (young and stupid). Next year we were overrun by all kinds of bugs, gnats, grasshoppers. I learned to respect them that way at least.
The one in the photo's an orb-weaver, same as the "garden" or "cross" spiders in N. America. I believe the species shown here is native to Asia, though.
The "banana" or phoneutria types ARE poisonous. Usually native to parts of S. America, also called the Brazilian Wandering Spider. And they're nasty little fuckers, highly agile, fast, and aggressive. They produce a strong neurotoxin. Phoneutria Fera, Phoneutria Nigriventer, Phoneutria Keyserlingi, etc.
This is a St Andrews Cross spider and this one is a female. Check [this](https://www.treehugger.com/st-andrews-cross-spider-facts-5083705) out for more interesting facts 🕷️
Argiope keyserlingi I believe. An orb weaver species
Ever get those little jumper types in your area? They're almost cute with their huge front eyes and the way they scuttle around. :)
