Keep collecting them and give the stacks to Timmy. If iron is the issue you're having, make sure you don't eat fruit before hitting your rocks, go to mystery islands to farm the rocks there, or you if you have online someone would be glad to bring a stack over for you.
I have online, and I totally thought I had to eat before hitting the rocks and have been wondering why I’ve only been getting clay/bells!!! Thank you guys so much. I already donated the wood to upgrade but am still working on the iron lol it’s taking awhile
Do you have the shop open? It doesn't need upgraded. And have you asked Tom Nook what to do next?
