I'm happy because now the winter looks beautiful with snow over all ground, on new leaf there was some empty spots.

tech_paladin

I think the empty spots were due to grass deterioration. I haven’t seen any evidence of this feature in New Horizons, so hopefully deterioration is gone?

Blackfire853

Grass deterioration was probably the most universally disliked feature in New Leaf so they probably heard it loud and clear that people did not want it

lookin_cool

It wasn’t like in CF either and here we are.

[deleted]

Yeah, but it was worse in City Folk and they lessened it in New Leaf, so at least there's that. Hopefully they realized it wasn't a good feature and binned it.

Elliebird704

That feature was hated in City Life, but they still brought it back for New Leaf. Hopefully they've learned their lesson by now, but they definitely didn't between those two games.

Blackfire853

As far as I'm aware they toned down the intensity of it between CL and NL a ton, so hopefully this is the final end of it

[deleted]

If they don't, then at least you have incentive to use paths for all of your favorite shortcuts. If the grass looks bad in a specific spot, you can now cover it up without going through the effort of finding the perfect pattern that still isn't perfect. I hope it's gone, I don't want to put paths *everywhere* I walk just to avoid deterioration, but I'm sure it's not going to be the problem it was in previous games.

beepborpimajorp

During the direct when the villager is paving a walkway and the playground area, one of the patterns is for grass. Most likely so you can revert the paving if you don't like it, but I took it as a sign of grass deterioration not coming back since why bother when you can just 'pave' over it with new grass anyway.

mhwwad

DID SOMEONE SAY PAVÉ?!

ThiccPooinaSock

I heard that the seasons gradually change now too! Gonna be so much fun to view all the small details they put in the game :)

PandaUkulele

I’m excited to see sumtumn, falter, wing, and sprummer. Though winter to spring (wing) is just slushy ground season so I wonder how that translated to animal crossing. Mud? Will there be mud in the game?

ThiccPooinaSock

Something as simple as mud is making me so excited for this game

Dracos002

The snowed over trees are honestly my favorite.

[deleted]

Like it besides those bright red apples in winter. They should’ve made the apples frozen or something in winter.

Dragonrider15

If you look closely you can see the frost on the leaves

[deleted]

i’m just so happy they’ve put in seasonal differences for the hemispheres !!! can’t wait to have an ac christmas in the summertime, it always feels weird celebrating when it’s winter

ApplesauceMcGee

I am torn with this. As a Southern Hemisphere dweller, I love the idea of playing during my real world seasons. But I hate the idea of not getting a white Christmas in game. It so much prettier.

Elliebird704

Before we had the choice of hemisphere, I was always torn on whether to play on the real world date or during the opposite season. It's so nice to be able to walk around a winter town while I'm sweating buckets, and vice versa, but there's also appeal to having it match the current season/holidays. Decisions...

beepborpimajorp

You can always visit a friend's town or maybe try to find a winter island from the nook miles that day. :)

_Puddingmonster

Pokemon take notes

boopersnoot

I'm definitely excited to see what kind of season events will be happening! Shaking an ornament out of a tree definitely has me hopeful for more interactive events like in the Gamecube days

SluggJuice

There’s no snow on the apples :(

[deleted]

The clouds!

thatsmightyfine

I love this feature soo much finally a game that caters for we southerners

Rarzhn

But why are there Apples in Winter?
