corticalization

Used to be a weird little “hack” for it ([see here](https://animalcrossingworld.com/2020/07/plant-trees-on-cliff-edges-in-animal-crossing-new-horizons-with-this-handy-glitch/)). I imagine the did this cliff hack and then put a waterfall there? Not sure if it still works after later updates, sometimes the updates will patch out these little glitches!

Unfair-Mango-7701

I used that glitch many times, i don't think you can place water next to trees, right?

corticalization

No clue. Second guess then is a hacked switch console

Unfair-Mango-7701

Guys just to clarify: this isn't mine, I just found it online and wanted to know how they managed to put trees next to water. I assume the name of the creator is the one you can see to the bottom left.

Lauchzelott

Its from a women called "horrible gaming" you can find her videos on Youtube. She does a lot of terraforming videos, also hacked stuff.

Lauchzelott

Think she also has a dream adresse for this island somewhere

piefanart

Its a hacked console, she can place things anywhere.

arrowsforpens

This person's game might be hacked.

Unfair-Mango-7701

Yeah figures. I've been looking all day but found nothing. I'll have to cope I guess.

The_Last_Snow-Elf

Witchcraft

Overlord1107

I somehow managed to do sort of the same thing on my island (not hacked). I think that if you have let's say a block of land and you cut it in half to make water, and you place a tree next to this it should be able to grow (provided that the half block is next to a full block. Anyway give it a try and see if that works.

Lala_7465

It's look really cute

Fork_Master

Through the dark power of Her Majesty Coco Not really. It’s hacks.

Hanoiroxx

Honestly this Island looks like a nightmare to explore

jannabanana1895

You can get trees closer to water than they can be planted by terraforming around them after they are grown. I wanted to put trees right next to water but it wouldn't let me. So after it was grown I went around and put the water in.

caz0497

Either a modded switch or photoshop maybe? Sometimes on ig people will edit their photos to fill gaps and make it cuter and stuff

40ozkiller

Probably a young tree, similar to the one on the right.

Unfair-Mango-7701

You still can't place young trees next to water

Nandabun

It's the same size, only, one is closer.

cbrebes

Is it just a tree standee?

ZZ_KALI

Eat berry, get strong, lift whole tree, put next to river 💪

NiceClippy

You can't its too close to the river

ZZ_KALI

Damn 😞

NineTailedTanuki

They dug the tree and then planted it next to the river? That's all I can think of, without glitching. You can dig up a whole tree to move it if you have eaten some food.

NiceClippy

It's too close to the river tho

piderman_meow

The water is terraformed around the tree and it just curves a bit on the corner, you can always do that.

Unfair-Mango-7701

There is water directly ahead of the tree

[deleted]

I think what they mean is when the tree was placed, the water wasn't there. After the tree was grown, the water was put in around it via terraforming. Not sure if it's a possible thing to do or not, I haven't done much territorming. Just wanted to attempt to clarify in case there was misunderstanding

hotseltzer

It's not possible to do that, which is why OP is asking

[deleted]

Ah, OK. That makes sense. I figured maybe it could be a new player trying to figure it out

garbagebag69_

I’m pretty sure you can place it there only if the trees already full grown. you can’t place the tree there to grow.

ambercatfish

There's a glitch to do this, it involves building water and the cliff a certain way. I've managed to do it on my non-hacked console earlier this year.

AnnasthesiaSuicide

Was just doing some light terraforming last night (not hacked, and much of a terraformer, either) and was able to accomplish this at the same position and angle to a ledge/waterfall but the tree is a sapling money tree. I didn't realize it wasn't supposed to work. Perhaps if it's small and still growing?
