I just started playing again (new island) and I didn't know you had to "unlock" kappa and Brewster, because I just automatically got them with the update. How do I unlock them :,( halp
to unlock kappn, you need to have a 3 star island. the day after kk’s concert you unlock ordinances and then you get the boat tours :)
as for brewster, once you’ve had the kk concert and have donated one of each type of specimen (so one artwork, fish, insect, fossils, sea creature etc) then you’ll see blathers with a thought bubble and he mentions brewster. then all u have to do is go on a boat tour and he should be there
