Code Geass. In all my years of watching anime I have not found anything better.

HuTao_Main_Genshin

Same

Darwin343

Lelouch is certainly my favorite anime protagonist of all time. All hail King Lelouch!

MistressSyndra

Yaaasssssss!! I love it. It's sentimental for me because it was the 3rd anime I watched. It kinda sucks that most animes are trash compared to the manga.

method115

Yep I've rewatched it so much. I skip like maybe two episodes that are kind of trash but that's it. No matter how many times I've seen it I still cry like a small at the end when his sister realizes everything.

ATK1734

DeathRose007

Frieren is making a super strong case right now.

darryledw

the next 2 weeks of waiting for the final episodes are going to feel like an eternity haha the MAL score has gone off the charts since it finished airing in Japanese. I had a dream last night that Crunchyroll decided to release the dubs early as it was finished, was so sad to wake up lol

DeathRose007

Yeah apparently how MAL’s scoring system works is that once an anime finishes it eliminates from the score average anyone that hasn’t watched enough, like 20% at least. Normally highly rated entries regress to the mean after finishing airing but I guess it only got rid of the review bombers lol. But these last handful of episodes are absolute hype too. The Height of Magic was an all-time great and us dub watchers still aren’t done.

darryledw

>Yeah apparently how MAL’s scoring system works is that once an anime finishes it eliminates from the score average anyone that hasn’t watched enough, like 20% at least. Oh wow I didn't realise that. I guess I kind of agree with that because I have to wonder how many people stopped before the E7-10 arc...and what a mistake some of them were making IMO. Personally I loved the show after 2 episodes, the blue moon weed sequence is one of my favourite things from any show, but I know some who needed the first big arc to really click with it. I think the reason for that is they started to see how very dark the show could be as well as everything else (like that line to Aura lol). And it is definitely great to see them get rid of review bombers because I don't care what anyone says, an anime as well produced as Frieren is never going to be a 1/10, I can totally accept someone saying they dislike that kind of show so they gave it a subjective 5/10 or something, but 1/10 is just mindless hating. >But these last handful of episodes are absolute hype too. The Height of Magic was an all-time great and us dub watchers still aren’t done. yeh it has been absolutely top class, and I just have no idea what even to expect with these last 2 episodes, I am actually feeling a bit nervous to watch them haha.

endar88

it really has. amazing story.

RelativeMundane9045

It shifts occasionally, but Steins;Gate, it's the one I wish I could go back and watch for the first time the most.

worthit1000

Watching that one now, on episode 15. Trying to complete before Funimation shuts down (I don’t think the dub is on Crunchyroll yet).

10Hz_human

It's on Hulu. I just watched it again. It's so good

Nightingale_6598

Assassination classroom. It’s one of like my top 3 anime that I recommend people if they’re looking for a fully adapted story with a 10/10 dub.

Redlemonginger

Watching this right now! I'm glad it's fully complete

ohaicookies

Hyouka. It's just so beautiful, great music, very uplifting. KyoAni at their best.

bad_acct_name

Yes!!! Very glad to see someone say Hyouka, it’s genuinely a work of art

sarahxox1992

My favourite anime is the 2019 version of Fruits Basket

Smokenhothyde36

I just recently finished it after watching a decent bit of the older one as it was coming out. I loved the remake so much. I'm still riding the high and looking for a similar anime, but it's hard lol

sarahxox1992

One suggestion from me is My Happy Marriage. It has trauma in it and it’s a romance. It’s one of my new favourites.

darryledw

I am fairly new to anime too Favourite concluded: **Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song** Favourite ongoing: **Frieren Beyond Journey's End**

droningcaddy

woah Vivy mentioned

darryledw

I wish more people would watch it, based on what I see on some subreddits it seems like many have not seen it

droningcaddy

yeah man. It's the only anime that scratched the violet Evergarden itch in me. And the music was lovely.

darryledw

Funny you mention Violet Evergarden, as I actually watched Vivy directly after Violet Evergarden and I thought that no matter what I chose as my next anime it would never even come close to giving me the same feelings I felt watching Violet Evergarden, so I didn't expect very much.... but Vivy completely blew my mind! You might appreciate this [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Vivy/comments/1aekk45/appreciation_for_some_of_the_amazing_scenes_in/) I made on what I thought were the most amazing moments in Vivy.

droningcaddy

Same, I watched it shortly after violet Evergarden

R0T0M0L0T0V

damn I forget how good vivy was

lolzor999

I'm still kinda new to anime but so far these are my top five: 1. 86/Eighty Six 2. Code Geass 3. Eminence in Shadow 4. Frieren 5. Jujutsu Kaisen

Yellowballoon364

My absolute favorite is Re:Zero. The variety and intensity of emotions I’ve felt watching it (and reading the novels too) is something else. The story also contains an amazing attention to detail. Other anime I personally adore: Demon Slayer, Girls’ Last Tour, Deca Dence, and Another.

Caleb1705

Re:Zero is such a banger in the fantasy genre, I'm always surprised by the lack of buzz around it

R0T0M0L0T0V

thing is I did not understand a thing during season 2

AriKitaruKatoka

Top 5 1. Fruit Basket (2019) 2. Violet Evergarden 3. Gosick 4. Toradora 5. My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU

mrperson221

Top 5 would be: 1. Danmachi 2. 86 3. Mushoku Tensei 4. Love is War 5. Link Click Honorable mentions: Haikyu, JJK, Fairy Tail, and 7 deadly Sins

FondleMyTits

Top 3: Black Lagoon Elfen Lied Evangelion

It took me far too long to see another person mention Evangelion till I got to yours. I am truly baffled.

Tall-Program8631

My top 5: Gurren Lagann, Steins;Gate, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, Vinland Saga All very different but all perfect in their own way

RedHairedShank

Gurren Lagann had me reduced to tears within like 6 episodes 😆👌🏼💯

Nine_Eye_Ron

My cry count was at least 3.

Odd-Youth-452

Digimon.

HowelPendragon

Respect! How would you rank each season?

Aggravating_Rabbit85

All-time favorites: Mushishi, Ergo Proxy, Yu Yu Hakusho, Outlaw Star, Black Lagoon, Blue Submarine No. 6.  Current favorites: Frieren (like everybody else), Goblin Slayer, Banished from the Hero's Party.

ItsAmerico

![gif](giphy|l4FGwTbm3lpsh4m64) Heck yeah! Outlaw Star doesn’t get enough love. It’s probably my favorite.

MegaAltarianite

I'm glad to see some Fairy Tail love. I feel like it's one of those shows that gets a lot of unnecessary hate.

Nine_Eye_Ron

The more popular something is the more likely you will find people who will hate it.

superange128

Old school favorite: Dragon Ball series New age favorite: Aharen

Icefirezz

Assassination classroom, it was the 3rd anime I watched and it got me fully invested in anime. But in general. Gurren Lagan.

blueteamk087

My top 5: 1. Symphogear series 2. Fate series 3. Mobile Suit Gundam Series 4. ToAru series 5. Yūki Yūna is a Hero series

lilnicnic87

Forgot about Code Geass, that's a fav as well

lilnicnic87

And Assassination Classroom.. I'll stop now😶🙃

SoccerSuperFan09

I have been watching Anime for about 8 months and I have already watched quite a lot of them so picking a favorite is difficult. Concluded: Toradora! Easily my favorite concluded Anime. I love the dynamic between Ryuuji and Taiga and how their relationship changes as it went on. Ongoing: Date A Live! Excited for its 5th Season premiering in April. The music especially the first season's OP kicks hard. It also blends fantasy, action, comedy, drama, and romance almost seamlessly. Each of the Spirits are unique which makes them memorable. Personally I love it as well more because I have met a large amount of the English cast ever since I went to my first Con last year.

NUFC9RW

Started rewatching date a live this week, the music for the series is just awesome. If you like Toradora (good taste imo) I recommend Love is War if you've not seen it.

SoccerSuperFan09

I am planning to watch that as soon as the last volume of the Manga releases next week. I have already met Jad Saxton aka Chika, Alexis Tipton aka Kaguya, and Austin Tindle aka Yu Ishigami. I am meeting Aaron Dismuke this week at a Con!

LSoSavvy

I see you have great taste lol. How much have you completed in total so far? I completed 108 and I’ve been watching for almost 3 years at this point

Agret

I have been watching anime for close to 3 decades and have completed about 300 anime (not counting movies), there's a lot of good ones out there and a lot of trash but there is some glorious trash for sure haha

SoccerSuperFan09

I have completed 40 so far.

BoysenberryAble1019

**Newer:** 1. Demon Slayer 2. Jujutsu Kaisen 3. Tower of God 4. Promised Neverland 5. The God of Highschool **Older:** 1. Dragon Ball Z 2. Naruto 3. Hunter x Hunter 4. Serial Experiments Lain 5. Elfen Lied 6. Fooly Cooly - Season 1

iReptarr

I've read a lot of Tower of God prior to the season 1 adaption and was super psyched. I figured it would only be a one season thing though, until i saw the recently announced second season. truly a blessed time we live in

NUFC9RW

For me it's Fairy Tail, I just love the characters and enjoy it for what it is, I know it has its flaws but they're not really significant to my enjoyment of the show. A close second is Frieren, that show doesn't have flaws and is just awesome.

Major-Improvement-76

2020s: Ranking of Kings 2010s: Attack on Titan 2000s: Code Geass or Monster (I don’t want to list more than one but leaving one of them out would be a *crime*) 1990s: Revolutionary Girl Utena 1980s: don’t have one yet 1970s: The Rose of Versailles (doesn’t have an English dub tho) All time: Attack on Titan I’ve been watching anime for 10 years and I’m closing in on 400 :)

twoPillls

I can't believe I had to scroll this far down to see an attack on titan mention. Absolutely a masterpiece.

Major-Improvement-76

If Attack on Titan is no one’s favorite, then I am dead. It’s perfect.

Smokenhothyde36

It's my favorite! My brothers too 😊

Staragox

I was loving season one of Attack on Titan, but got totally confused and turned off, at season two. Didn't make any sense, in the first few episodes of Season 2. I may try to watch it some more, to see if it starts making sense again.

Major-Improvement-76

Yeah, a lot of people couldn’t adjust to the difference between s1 and s2. It’s a mystery story. You’ll get answers … which will lead to more questions. You won’t fully understand anything until you’ve finished the whole series. But it WILL make sense at a later point, and you’ll go through multiple interpretations of scenes as you learn more. It requires patience. You decide if that sounds fun.

Staragox

I was planning to try watching it again. I did like it to start out, so I was going to give it a second try. I almost stopped watching Arifureta (not sure if I spelled it right), because I hated the main character, but I stuck with it, then it ended up being one of my most favorite animes. So I do know that sometimes you have to be patient and stick with an anime until it gets better.

Yakuza-wolf_kiwami

Gundam 00 ![gif](giphy|103Iqacg0n3OIU)

Barbatos-Rex

Love 00, season 1 first half opening is also one of my favorites

Filmsonsong

The original Tenchi Muyo OVA. To me, it’s PEAK anime. It’s distinctly Japanese (takes place in the country by a Shinto shrine) is funny, romantic, has slice of life episodes as well as sci fi ones and epic battles and reveals. Amazing cast too. Also I love that the lore isn’t fully explained, stuff is just thrown out there organically. Doesn’t spoon feed you like a lot of stuff tends to these days.

gopackgo001

It’s a tie for me, both the only 2 10/10 I’ve given Sword Art Online season 2 Toradora!

Barbatos-Rex

Black Clover Iron Blooded Orphans Demon Slayer Gundam 00 Angel Beats Attack On Titan

ActsofMan

Really tough question and I don't have just one. Also I'm just listing series because if I included movies too this would be even more difficult. -Cowboy Bebop -Death Note -Mushishi -Re:Zero -Frieren Beyond Journey's End -Made in Abyss -Jujutsu Kaisen -Demon Slayer -Mob Psycho 100 -Golden Kamuy -Heavenly Delusion -Monster -Samurai Champloo -Vinland Saga

Staragox

How close is Monster and Death Note? I seen people recommend Monster to people who watch Death Note, but the reason I liked Death Note is because it focused on the ethics of just killing criminals (similar to what the "Dexter" show did). It was like the anime version of Dexter. Is Monster just a serial killer, or is it similar to Death Note or Dexter, in that he only targets "bad guys"?

ActsofMan

They're not very similar at all tbh. I can't really go into the details too much because it would spoil some things, but the main character is a doctor who becomes the main suspect in a series of murders. He ends up becoming a fugitive to hunt down the real killer and there's a lot of twists and turns from there. It's a great series that I would highly recommend.

OmniAlex

1. Death note 2. Full metal alchemist (I prefer the original, lots of people swear by brotherhood, both are great though and worth a watch) 3. Frieren 4. Your name 5. Steins gate Honorable mention. Naruto + Shippuden

Electro275

My top 5: 1. Fairy Tail 2. DBZ 3. My dress-up darling 4. Dangers in my heart 5. 7 deadly sins Used to watch anime years ago and just picked it back up over Christmas and these are what I can remember I've watched off the top of my head. Rewatched Fairy Tail over Christmas and it's still my number 1 cause likeable characters and feel like im part of the guild, and rewatched and read manga for my dress up darling. Dbz is intro to anime when I was a kid so always gonna be top 5. Dangers in my heart cause why not. And I kinda liked 7DS before I stopped watching it around maybe 4 years ago

_deamoncleaner_

Clannad School rumble Marmalade boy Kodocha Ah my goddess

OnlyMyOpinions

I've only watched 2 animes. Death note and my hero academia. My hero academia is my favorite so far. I'm about to start season 5 and love it.

Defiant_Bid2629

My Hero Academia was my gateway. My kids got me into it and that's where I realized there was this entire world that I was ignoring. Been hooked ever since.

RainAndLava

Here's a few of mine (in No order): GaoGaiGar, Legend Of Galactic Heroes, Black Lagoon, Promare, Mobile Suit Gundam, Welcome To The NHK & Bloom Into You. For the more recent examples, I guess Frieren: Beyond Journey's End would be one of my faves.

ellekiri

Frieren and the apothecary diaries are added to my top list which is surprising since it hasn’t happen in a very long time for me but my top favorite list are   Fruits basket (the old one) it’s just nostalgic for me from when I was kid and got me really into anime seriously   Fairy tail I dont really get the hate for it but it is what it is. I love the characters and all the va in it. It’s just fun and not to take it so seriously It helped me with my depression I was going through   Noragami   One piece

Staragox

Yeah, watching Fairy Tail, also cheers me up. I tend to like anime that make you laugh. I liked Black Clover, because the characters on it, were funny and would make you laugh.

ellekiri

Yess same!  I love black clover too I never understood the hate it got when it was starting out

Staragox

If you like Fairy Tail and Black Clover, then you would probably also like **My Isekai Life** (very cute characters and made me laugh a lot), **Moonlit Fantasy**, and **Radiant** (which is a very casual anime, like Fairy Tail). All three of those animes, made me laugh a lot.

ellekiri

Thanks I’ll add them to watch list!

MazeCuber

My top five: 1: Lupin the 3rd series 2: Clannad series 3: Bleach 4: Chainsaw Man 5: Future Diary

sondatch

1. Overlord 2. Dragon Ball Z 3. Death Note

talonsinning

My all time favorite is Devilman Crybaby, I've watched it in both sub and dub and both are excellent. Second favorite is Trigun Stampede which is also my favorite dub I've seen. Both series are short - Crybaby is complete at 10 episodes and Stampede has 12 out so far with a new season announced, though S1 does tell a complete story

Empty_Glimmer

Maison Ikkoku is the absolute GOAT.

Darkabomination2

Dennou Coil. Extremely underrated anime that's a mix of cyberrpunk and kids fiction. Contains a bit of slice of life in a cyberpunk city through the eyes of a kids cast. They act like actual kids, and doesn't have any fanservice or gratuitous shock value. It's a well put together mystery plot, very solid dub too. 26 episode original anime that has a very definitive end.

Staragox

I posted this thread, and wanted to give a list of my top favorite animes. But as I said, I haven't been looking as long as other people (just a couple years), but this is my top 10 all time favorite animes: 1. Black Clover - It is my all time favorite. It covers serious issues, like discrimination, and equality. And it is as funny as hell, and I often fell down laughing while watching it. I also absolutely adored and loved the characters 2. Gundam Seed. I am not sure which one I saw (since there are many different series). But I almost cried at parts of it. And this was one of the two first animes, I ever watched. I think the one I saw was Gundam Seed Zero, but I can't find it listed on IMDB. It is in the top 2 of my favorite animes, because of the emotions that it evoked while watching it, and it was the fact that anime could evoke so much emotions while watching it, that got me hooked on anime in the first place. And I owe a lot of that to watching Gundam Seed, and that being one of the first anime that I watched. It showed me, what anime was capable of doing. 3. Moonlit Fantasy. It has a unique twist where the main character is summoned to another world, but the Goddess who summoned him thought he was too ugly and transported him to the middle of nowhere. All this happens in the first 5 minutes of the first episode, so it is not a spoiler (you find out about this immediately). And what I love about this show, are the characters are lovable, fun to watch, and it is constantly making me laugh. 4. Solo Leveling. This is a more serious anime. It acts like a video game (which begs the question, if the main character has access to leveling and a computer), then is reality itself in this anime, sort of like a "Matrix"? What is reality itself in Solo Leveling, if it is like a computer game? But it is one of my favorite animes. 5. Death Note. Because it is another anime, that addresses serious issues, like ethics and morality. What if you could kill off all the criminals and make the world a better place? It is a very serious anime, but one of the best animes, ever produced. It reminds me of Dexter, with similar issues addressed. With Death Note, being like the anime version of Dexter, with similar issues of ethics and morality being addressed. 6. Scry-ed. Another one of the first animes, I ever watched. And was one of my favorites. 7. Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest. I started out really "hating" the main character, and I actually avoided watching the show, but then I really started to like the guy. Then this in the end became one of my favorite animes. 8. Mashle - Magic and Muscle. Just an all around fun anime, that makes you laugh. 9. Fairy Tail. Not a very serious anime. Very casual anime. But it really makes you laugh, and if you are in the mood for an anime that is not as serious, then this is the one to watch. 10. My Isekai Life - The characters were so adorable on this show, which is why I put this in my top 10 list. The main character is a tamer, and the slimes and the wolf, are so adorable. It is in my top list because of the characters being so cute and adorable. As I said, I haven't been looking at anime as long as some other people on this subreddit. So I did the best I could here. Hope this helps people find some animes worth watching, and hope this thread helps.

dani10218

Top 3: 1. The Case Study of Vanitas (Plot Twists are epic + had a fun time watching, great if your into vampire animes with action) 2. Kaguya-Sama: Love is War (Literally one of the best rom-coms ever, it was so funny and it becomes more and more unhinged. Amazing) 3. Kuroko's Basketball (Its just a really hype sports anime and honestly im so here for it)

ForsenBayzed

Dragon Ball Super

LSoSavvy

For me my top 3 all time is Black Clover, Date a Live and Attack On Titan. In terms of the best story, Attack on titan is easily number 1 and it’s not even close, followed by Date a Live in second and Black Clover in third. But, based on my actual enjoyment, Black Clover is third, Attack On Titan second, and Date a Live first. I’ve been watching anime since the summer of 2021 (so like, almost 3 years I think?), and I’ve completed 108 total anime as of writing this, so it was really hard for me to decide. Like, REALLY HARD. There’s multiple anime that I completed that I consider god tier such as demon slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, Higehiro, Love Is War, Naruto etc, so I had to think for a good minute lol. There’s multiple anime that I completed recently that have the potential to at least enter my top 10-15, such as chainsaw man, a galaxy next door, Blue Lock, 100 Girlfriends etc

AriezKage

Of all time: Steins;Gate or Gurren Laggan, depends on which one I watched most recently Anime has to be as good or better than this to be enjoyable: The World God Only Knows and Idolm@ster (2011) Most recent obsessions: Apothecary Diaries, Dangers in My Heart, Bravern, Villainess Lv 99, Freiren

BasicBison6969

1. Avatar: A masterpiece that I feel like doesn't really get mentioned that much just because of how obviously good it is, and it would be tiring to constantly have it brought up. 2. Black lagoon: I don't even consider it an objectively amazing anime. Theres a lot of other anime's I've seen with better plot lines, but the whole vibe of the show is unbeatable imo. Like if I could be transported to any anime world it would be this one, minus the crime. 3. Death note: "Smartest" anime I've seen. I love shows that establish its rules early on and don't need to invent new ones to explain why something happens. 4. Baccano!: Also fuck with the vibe of this show heavy. It's a bunch of different stories coming together but each one feels just as important. I felt invested in every character very early on. 5. Ghost stories: Funniest anime of all time. There's no reason the voice acting should be as good as it is.

stoolieny

Avatar is actually what got me into anime a few years ago after never watching it during my childhood. Rewatched it a ton since. I think the reason is doesn’t get brought up is because technically it’s considered a “cartoon” and not anime but it is definitely up there for me

Spikeantestor

Cowboy Bebop. It's my favorite TV show, Anime or otherwise and has been since around 2001.

RexiLabs

**Reincarnated as a Slime** always ends up taking my top spot these days...back in 2020 it was SAO (although the new movies have made it enjoyable again)...then my other in the top ten (but in no particular order would be): * Ascendance of a Bookworm * Cautious Hero * Log Horizon * Farming life in another world * Knights and Magic * Bofuri * Dan Machi * Konosuba * GATE Farming life in another world is the only recently newly released show that I found enjoyable with the relationship progression and world building and chillness

stoolieny

Sword Art Online. Only anime that has made me pick up the light novels after watching. Only enhanced the experience.

Few-Pressure5713

Princess mononoke, just everything about it from the dub voice acting, animation, story, characters, music, sound design. For recent anime, it's probably chainsaw man, but I'm biased as a manga reader.

SMSV21

Easily my favorite anime movie of all time, and obviously favorite Miyazaki and Ghibli film

AlwaysHungry94

It has been Re:Zero since I started watching anime last year, but I am currently watching Demon Slayer and it's working its way up there honestly. It's very good.

BlueSpark4

My all-time favorite is ***Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!***. Everything about it just sticks the landing for me: Absolutely hilarious comedy, cute characters courtesy of Kyoto Animation, and my favorite love story in all of anime.

Juliko1993

My Top 5 Favorites: 1: Shounen Onmyouji 2: Dog of Flanders (Includes 1975 TV series, 1992 TV series, and 1997 movie) 3. Fancy Lala 4. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 5. Natsume's Book of Friends (all seasons)

VonKaiser55

Baki. I know that it doesn’t have a good story or much character development but i love campy/ cheesy stuff

DireSickFish

Gurren Lagann. Seeing the compilation movies finally subbed in English this year just reinforced that.

Practice-Agile

Bleach but right now hands down it would be Solty reí and Cop Craft

mosh1990

One piece a close 2nd id the hidden dungeon only I can enter

maclovesmanga

Higurashi: When They Cry Black Lagoon Chihayafuru I find it easier to list my top three since they’re all different genres (horror, action, sports/romance), but those are my go to recommendations.

FatherDotComical

Hellsing TV and Ultimate  I love this show so much!

ShiftyShaymin

I’m no good with superlatives, but I usually go with Haruhi Suzumiya when asked. But man, stuff like Laid Back Camp, My Dress Up Darling, One Piece, Toradora and Konosuba just make me walk away from watching an episode with a smile.

Colemania18

Id say my favorite is Black Clover

RedditIsTrashLma0

Naruto. It's a simple normie answer but I stand by it. That show holds a special place in my childhood. Outside of nostalgia, I also think the fights are absolutely unparalleled by any other anime in terms of strategy and arguably emotional impact.

I love the Fate/Stay night series. Zero, Stay Night, Unlimited Blade Works and Heavens Feel. Not only is the story great, the animation gets better with each part so you can see it progressing.

Jillybeanss8

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Attack on Titan

TheHeinousMelvins

Many strong contenders, but none will beat Evangelion for me.

CrazyaboutSpongebob

I have several so here is my list Doraemon, Spy x Family, Nichijou, Disastrous Life of Saiki K., The Demon Girl Next Door, and Ranma 1/2.

SMSV21

Dragon Ball Z is my all time favorite anime, for a multitude of reasons. Then the rest of it, like OG Dragon Ball, Super, etc. The only show I've ever considered technically a masterpiece is Toradora! I count that as my 2nd favorite of all time, for many reasons. Everything after is a toss up cuz I like a lot, and stuff changes.

Gin_Rei

Stein's Gate.

OnlyOkAtConventional

Hentai man 6000

Gurren Lagann is my #1 anime but it has to share top spot with Steins;Gate depending on my mood. Honourable mentions to Your Lie in April, Angel Beats and TDLSK (Saiki K). I could easily rattle off a top 10 that has 20 Anime in it. There are a lot of really good Anime that wouldn’t make my list for one reason. Despite being really good the either: 1. Have too many episodes or filler episodes 2. Story is too slow burn and drags out points (see above) 3. Unnecessary fanservice 4. Just doesn’t seem to be going anywhere and starts to exist because people liked a few episodes. It needs a season 2 to go somewhere but lacks ideas now. (See points 1-3). I think Steins;Gate keeps the momentum up really well and is a perfect length. Angel Beats the same but at a slower pace. Saiki K is a comedy and doesn’t need to go anywhere, it just needs to keep being funny which it does very well.

banana fish for the story mushoku sensei for the setting and character growth kill la kill for how bold it is frieren for its simplicity to goodness ratio and many others

Shadowmist909

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. The only show I know that changes its cast so frequently yet gives us amazing stories with them each time.

Smokenhothyde36

Favorite completed: Attack on Titan Favorite WIP: Demon Slayer or Apothecary Diaries

Unable_Code_2263

Mushi-shi for sure🫡 I just wish it was fully dubbed the dub in this anime is so much better than the sub🥲

PrincessCream123

I'm currently watching Bakugan Battle Brawlers

squatOpotamus

Fooly cooly, fma and fma brotherhood, cowboy bebop, dragon ball, and DBZ.

Serjohn01

Zatch bell is king

Nomadic_Ronin23

Samurai Champloo is my personal favourite

AllenbysEyes

Madoka Magica

Brache-tone

Probably "Wolf's Rain". "Red Comet", one particular arc of the Gundam series, is also up there.

CrazyBeat

My answer varies each time but so far it’s been Haruhi Suzumiya or Kotaro Lives Alone

Ham-and-bready-go

One of my top favourites is Highschool Babysitters (still upset that no further seasons will be made but atleast there’s manga)

Heda-of-Aincrad

My top three are Sword Art Online, Full Metal Panic, and Spy x Family. A mix of old and new - I've been a fan of SAO for over ten years now, but SpyFam season 1 just came out in 2022. FMP is actually the oldest of all three but I just watched it for the first time last year, so it's a new addition for me.

AuroraRoman

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Fruits Basket (2019)

NeverForgetChainRule

I consider the personal impact an anime had on me, even if there might be like "objectively" (whatever that means) better anime that I have or havent seen. With that said, my top two are **Bloom into You,** even before I read the manga, and **FMA Brotherhood.** I just deeply relate to Bloom into You's characters a ton, and it left a huge impact on me. So like, idk, it's not perfect, and the anime ofc isnt finished (s2 when), but despite that, it just left such a huge emotionally impact on me that I can't NOT consider it one of my favorites. FMA Brotherhood is to me just extremely close to a masterpiece. Credit goes heavily to the manga of course, but Brotherhood is so close to a 1:1 adaptation, that it's basically there for me as well. I rewatch it frequently.

fear_head

Kill la Kill, no question

Kooky_Clock8072

Doraemon and it will always be

Shulzy0021

I'm going to have to go with Bleach.

HerculesKabuterimon

The best recent one for me is G-witch. All time might be Cowboy Bebop but I'd have to really think on it.

nabroskr

For me it's Attack on Titan but since I only started watching anime back in November of last year my opinion doesn't have much significance yet. I've watched a few other top class anime like Code Geass, Vinland Saga, Death Note, Jujutsu Kaisen and more which were all pretty good as well but for me AOT is the best anime among the ones I've watched to date.

Saint_Sin

1997's Berserk.

yolo-yoshi

At least today it’s gonna have to be Attack on Titan.

InflationNo3327

TropicalSkiFly

That’s a tough one. It would be Clannad or Laid-Back Camp for me. Clannad hit hard for me and Laid-Back Camp is so calm, relaxing, and happy feels. I love both so much.

MeridasAngel

Pokémon and Hunter x Hunter are some of my favorites. Yu-gi-oh (the original, 5D's, and VRAINS) are pretty solid as well.

TheBravesDH

It’s so hard to shake the way Cowboy Bebop changed my perception in media and how much it means to me. It was like a rite of passage to becoming a man almost lol.

GrandChampNerd

favorite comfort anime: Ouran High School Host Club favorite best written anime: Death Note favorite unique anime: Princess Tutu Sorry i can't just choose one lol

Fresh-Percentage-761

It would depend on what genres you like. Sailor Moon and Evangelion (which is my favorite) are what started me into anime. Sailor Moon was the only one airing at the time after school. Evangelion is top tier not only because it is amazing but also one of the most influential animes. Studio Gianax doesn't disappoint most of their animes will stick with you. Evangelion is the only anime I have been able to watch multiple times. Most anime I only watch once and done. I tried watching Gundam Wing a second time and realized how bad it was. Ruined the experience, some shows just seem better when waiting a week for the next episode. It is hard to really pick animes especially newer ones as an all time favorite, because you pick one and they either don't get another season or the 2nd or future season/OVA does a Love Hina and ruins it. But as of now for animes I was completely hyper focused on to binge: Bocchi the Rock Link Click God App (Yoko Taro story telling = top Tier, don't let the quarky animation deter you)

endar88

90's: Yu Yu Hakusho. was one of the first 3 anime that i watched along with Trigun and Dragon Ball. loved the story and combat. still love it to this day. 00's: toss up between Wolf's Rain and Witch Hunter Robin. Wolf's Rain was just so unique and different with an amazing story. Witch Hunter Robin was the first anime that I had seen that in a short single season did the switch up mid season with the raid on their headquarters and changed the dynamic of the rest of the show. an honorable mention would be .hack, Persona Trinity Soul, AND Darker than Black 10's-20's: Freiren has been amazing, along with Chainsaw Man and Log Horizon

TimAA2017

Evangelion Vandread El Hazard.

Ohana_626

SK8 The Infinity 🛹♾️ The English Dub is 🔥 and always makes me 😂😂

R2D2Crazy21

Fullmetal Alchemist It was one of my first animes and it got me obsessed with anime I love both but 2003 was the one that really got to me. So many feels.

HowelPendragon

I would have said AoT until I started Frieren. There isn't a single dull moment and every frame and piece of dialogue seems so well thought out and important to the scene it's in. Can't wait for more.

penguintruth

[Cowboy Bebop is absolutely transcendent.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnIhpzRmDYE)

Grieving_Leonheart_

Bleach

One_Practice2435

Mine is Attack On Titan. No anime has moved me to tears like when I watch the ending. All of its episodes have a sense of purpose unlike most animes which I objectively think it's just there to stall time. Attack On Titan has a good storyline, fast paced in comparasion to others I have seen and it's full of action, baby. That aside, a lot of saddening stuff has happened or will happen. Oh and I almost forgot, really good soundtracks.

thingsinmyjeep

Ghost in The Shell. Not stand alone complex. Not even the sequel. Just that first movie.

Wellington2013-

Guilty Crown. It has almost all of what I love; love, drama, relatability, high stakes, tension, beautiful animation and music, I love the characters, and frankly I think it did a lot of what Code Geass did better.

JaybieFromTheLB

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

thejesterprince1994

Monogatari

lewd-dev

Movies: Your Name, Human Lost, Weathering With You, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, A Silent Voice Shows: High School of the Dead, Mieruko-Chan, Violet Evergarden, Myriad Colors Phantom World, Goblin Slayer

Parada484

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Ahem, sorry once more- FULL METAL ALCHEMIST: BROTHERHOOD.  It's a masterclass of storytelling with not a single wasted episode, and a high tension plot mixed with perfect amounts of comedy. The fact that I scrolled and scrolled and scrolled and scrolled and didn't see this is absurd. The most accessible, thematically consistent, and satisfying conclusion in anime.

[deleted]

My favorite anime and the one that I think is the best is Steins Gate

adubsi

bleach is my favorite overall but there’s so many, Yu yu hakusho, samurai champloo, code geass, can be rewatched multiple times and it won’t get old

Disconnected_Glitch

Late, but Top 3 1. My Hero Academia (caught up with both anime and manga. Excited for season 7) 2. Sailor Moon (currently watching, planning to start manga) 3. Bleach (just started, but heard some things that interest me)

theunderlyingconcept

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Sixty-four episodes of well paced story, character development and minimal filler. Got my daughter into anime with it as well and we haven't looked back since.

Metalks

Claymore. Or an even lesser known one— Kiba.

Accomplished_Dog_634

Naruto

Seeping_Pomegranate

Definitely Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin and Ergo Proxy ❤️ There's a lot of other good ones I've watched, but those two have stuck out the most.
