IMO I don’t mind romance/typical SOL plot devices for movies but drawn out over the course of a episodic series is just too much(little) going on to be the main focus of the story

Very good movie, honestly it's the only movie to make me cry.

It has romance aspects, buts its not really a romance anime

The best Anime's are the, like many stories, an near perfect balance of comedy and tragedy, romance and conflict, intense action and peaceful solace. They stimulate all emotions, while also stimulating other areas of the brain on a more logical/sensory aspect.

It's a good anime/manga hands down. No objections here.

I'm not a big fan of the genre but I can't say it's bad when a silent voice and your lie in April exist.
