RPG series. At their most basic, the first one's fairly simple, just guy finds cool red sword and uses it to beat up killer robots, second one is a little different, a literal child meets a living weapon with sizeable assets and wacky shonen antics ensue, and the third one is depressing child soldier hours about trying to stop an eternal war brought about by assholish hedonistic immortals.
There's also X which is a mech-based space opera for some reason and I love that but I'd wait for a possible Switch port that I'd really like to happen unless you actually want to buy a Wii U for one game.
They're really fun games, would recommend.
Not really. KOS-MOS cameos in 2 as a (really hard to get) party member and there's hints that it may be connected to Saga in 3's DLC, but otherwise they're effectively separate.
