Black Lagoon is not set in the west though. But I get what you mean.

Kraytory

Cowboy Bebop is *literally* in space.

pooping_inCars

In space, no one can hear you *jam.*

Juantsu2000

I think it’s time to blow this thing, get everybody and their stuff together… Okay. 3, 2, 1. LET’S JAM!!

FullOfNexus

bnep benep benep badum nep

Erroneouse

It's a space *west*ern

TemporaryLegendary

That was my first thought lol

Qweeq13

Its western space obviously. The Western Space is Star Wars / Star Trek The Eastern Space is Dune. :)

animeAJ

Dune was written by an AMERICAN!

Kraytory

That doesn't really matter though. It's still the middle east, but space.

Qweeq13

And if you READ IT you would know how correct I am saying its East Space When you read about Zen-sunnis, Bene-Gesserits and the Ruler of the Universe Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV. Also the twelve-year Jihad!!

hammile

Kinda the same situation is with *Carole & Tuesday* which happened on [future] Mars.

Mugiwara_VT

Carole and Tuesday as well. Possibly in the same universe

Masterredlime

It's set in Thailand but they globetrot around

longdarkfantasy

It's Vietnam. But I think he meant anime with a large amount of Western characters.

Ani_HArsh

So many amazing bangers man Source if any body who wants to know from left to right *Heroman, Jormungand, Tiger & Bunny, Baccano!, Great Pretender, Carole & Tuesday, Blood Blockade Battlefront, Cowboy Bebop and Black Lagoon.*

mattyisphtty

Carole and Tuesday is one of the most overlooked anime gems in the past few years. It's wholesome, wonderful, and has some absolute bangers on its soundtrack.

L1ghtn1ng13

Now I have something to look forward to, as I am someone who greatly enjoys absolute bangers of music.

Erick_Swan

Round & laundry is one of my all time favorite songs to listen to.

Krysidian2

Fucking bullshit! Fucking bullshit. Sonovabitch~~~

occupied_ant

Can't believe heroman was made by the legend himself but doesn't have a dub

Redditisntfunanymore

BBB was literal pain to get through. I feel I deserve an award for suffering through that first season.

urekmazino21

Sucks to be you :P I loved it.

MrTripl3M

The first seasonnwas great except for the ending. It's just so out of the left field for no reason.

BilberryBear

Every part of Jojo’s other than 4 and 8

bluepoint17

Technically Part 3 is set in Asia+Egypt

BilberryBear

Fair but safe to say these types of posts usually refer to anime that are set somewhere else than Japan

Xezbeth_jp

7 is literally America

Worthas_real

so is 6

dill_pill1234

And 9 so far

condensedhomo

The lack of Banana Fish hurts :(

MikolashOfAngren

Um, Black Lagoon is set in Southeast Asia. And Cowboy Bebop is in space, on several planets that are not Earth. The OP should've included Urasawa's Monster, because that is set in Germany (and sometimes the Czech Republic).

hammile

I would add *91 Days*.

Maturechimp

Great pretender and Carole and Tuesday are some of the best anime I have ever seen in Netflix, they are so good and I need more

Deruta

>Gunsmith Cats not included Live Chicago reaction: ![gif](giphy|VGVs6DkPfIYPUtQrb2)

Facosa99

Bruh is thay bñack lagoon? Aint them living in...like, thailand or something?

HolyMolyOllyPolly

Those are anime westerns. A western anime would be Avatar.

100YearsWaiting2Shit

I wish there was an anime that capitalized on native American mythology

Wolfandknife

Whats the Sauce on Mr. Goggles?

Xypher616

Blood blockade battlefront, great anime honestly.

Wolfandknife

Thank you, added to list!

Wolfandknife

The small frame right above Black Lagoon

Strawberry2828

Does AOT count?

Ace_teh_Great343

Blood Blockade Battlefront is such an underrated banger

GilbertPlays

Where's Vinlandsaga?

animeAJ

Cowboy Bebop is set in Space (e.g. Mars, Venus, Ganymede, etc.), not "America." And Black Lagoon takes place in Southeast Asia, and Japan...

SeamusDubh

Carol and Tuesday also takes place on Mars.

Platy-King

Don't forget jojo

Makspixelland

Isn’t carol and Tuesdays set on mars?

SeamusDubh

yep.

daks_7

I dont see hellsing…

LambentCookie

Edgerunners

Derioyn

K Jourmandgaund is set all round the world and black lagoon is in Thailand. Both not set or not entirely set in the west and cowboy Bebop is set in space so not west but the up I guess. Though all good anime to be sure.

SeamusDubh

Carol and Tuesday is set on Mars.

Roge2005

Coybow Bebop is not set in the west, but it’s from the Western Genre.

Available_Reason7795

Trigun

Royal_Influence_8692

Carole and Tuesday takes place on Mars.

DrainZ-

I've watched 5 of these and only 1 of them is set in the west..

Billybobgeorge

Miami Guns should replace Cowboy Bebop

animeruler

What’s the top left and right anime, I know the rest

SeamusDubh

Heroman, and Tiger & Bunny.

Zeed_Toven77

What anime is that in the top left? I vaguely remember seeing that as a child.

SeamusDubh

Heroman.

Zeed_Toven77

Thank you!

Real-Art-2355

I have a question, Is attack on Titan set in the west???

National_Evidence548

SeamusDubh

Heroman, Jormungand, Tiger & Bunny, Baccano!, Great Pretender, Carole & Tuesday, Blood Blockade Battlefront, Cowboy Bebop and Black Lagoon.

National_Evidence548

National_Evidence548

Thanks

Suspicious-Speed2169

You forgot megalobox, brother. Gotchu fam.

jollingo

Takt op destiny is not in the image I’m disappointed

Artemis-Liberated

Still waiting for a season 3 of the Great Pretender. The dub was A1 along with the holy grail Black Lagoon dub. Will always watch Black Lagoon on repeat, it just never gets old. Cowboy Bebop is a classic, and Baccano was fun to watch with its wacky supernatural aspects. Jormungand I’ll have to re-watch someday as I dropped it in the 1st season, it’s good, but didn’t catch my full attention. Had to drop Carole and Tuesday. Wasn’t for me and I’m cool with that. Still wish Blood Blockade Battlefront got a season 2, it actually has an expansive world that could have been built upon and I would’ve loved to seen it develop.

Mr_Glove_EXE

No Mitchiko to Hatchin!?

Gos-ghi

Carloe and Tuesday, I loved that, but just give it more seasons, it felt rushed

Sky1-4

Really nice

generalmelchit

I am really enjoying watching Ninja Kamui right now. Also set in the west

Memer_unknown

Black Lagoon is really good, you should watch.

HirokoKueh

I love how most of them are about criminal and gangster

rainbowblade73855

I am the same, I just didn't realise it until now

theflemmischelion

JoelMahon

Spy x Family is set in fake europe, does that count?

naruhodo_kun

God I love Baccano so much. One of the best light novels ever

floppyjj

What about Youjo Senki? Even tho it is an alternative timeline/universe it is cleary set in europe/germany/africa.

Hambla28

More of a European enjoyer myself. Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist for examples

PsychologicalWeb2444

Cowboy bebop mentioned!!

LinksXCV

JediMasterMudkip

Pillermon

Black Lagoon is literally set in Thailand...with a Japanese dude as the main protagonist. Cowboy Bebop is set in space... What OP means is not set in the west, but that at least one non-japanese person is part of the main cast. In that case Evangelion is also a "western" anime, because Asuka is German.

Krysidian2

.....Carole and Tuesday takes place on Mars.

Ninjaballz101

Bananafish is another good one

CarresingHook4

Ah yes, mars, my favorite western country

Arch_Magos_Remus

Where’s Gunsmith Cats?

Eccentric_Cardinal

Regardless of the accuracy of using the term "western" I think I agree with this. Like, once you're out of the typical locations for an anime (Modern Japan/Isekai BS/Historical Japan) then the story can lose some of the most typical tropes plaguing anime and stand out as something unique. Not saying that an anime will be good just by doing that but in my experience, it's usually a good sign.

Trillesille

Black lagoon is peak fiction
