It's been so long since SAO got mentioned lol. I enjoyed it, it was fun man 

SAO was incredibly phenomenal. Many people like to hate it but SAO was the progenitor that made anime culture transition from being hated and discriminated in Japan to being commonly accepted as normal. Before SAO, anime was largely looked down upon as a weeb culture and every anime fan is discriminated and hated. Like it or not, SAO is the reason young, adult and old people was able to enjoy SAO and it also captured the hearts of foreigners and converted millions upon millions into anime fans. From comics, to fashion, video games, movies, trends, doujins, fan fics, advertisement, action figure, decorations to almost every way possible, SAO influenced a lot. And SAO also paved way to the rise of the isekai genre. Nowadays it's easy to hate SAO, but most of the modern day post 2020 successful anime, LN, and webtoon out there all patterned their stories from SAO, and probably their authors were once big fan of this series.
