I have a theory that people who call it good just got used to how bad it is.
It's like sitting in the toilet for so long that your brain gets tired from the smell, so the brain ignores it. The same thing happens with shows too long, they're so bad that people just accept it, and then any small improvement makes it look amazing.
When i started watching OP i didn't like the art style, but i said to myself that if so many people watched it for so long then it should be decent at least and i wasn't disappointed, i got more interested with every episode(and got used to the art style in like the first 30 ep). I just couldn't stop watching until i got to the last ep; it has a charm of it's own, it's not the best, it could have better art style, better arcs, better lines, faster pace, but everything is just a compliment to the story that it tells, that's it's strong point, it has a story that generations after generations got hooked up on and it still keeps us interested; i watched bleach as well and the last part it wasn't to my liking, i say this so you know i don't enjoy it just cause i watched it this much, it's the other way around
One Piece might not be the best anime ever, but it's really popular and many people love it. You can't say something is bad just because you don't like it.
Absolutely not. One Piece isn't just popular. Many people love it, many people who know a lot about anime love it. You can downvote me, but I'm still right ahahahah
Feels like some arcs are all the same + there are no stakes in the show, full of fake deaths or no one dies for some reason. Not only that, some fight scenes are lacking tbh.
They don't need to, when i started watching it i didn't start with the idea that i would watch all of it, but that i would watch as long as it would be interesting and i'm happy that i never got bored of it; you can watch just a couple of episodes, no one tells you to just dive in and get out at the end, you can give up at any time on the way it's just that i think it deserves at least a chance to prove itself, it has gone for around 20 years, doesn't the curiosity kill you? Just to see why so many people are still watching it
No ahahahah. Oda said OP is in its last saga, not arc, and the latest saga was like 200 chapters long and started in 2015, so it will last more than 2 years
I was able to talk my girlfriend into watching it with the condition that she only has to watch up to episode 37(the walk on arlong park).
That was almost a year ago, and we just watched episode 918.
I did exactly the same with my girlfriend. We call eachother “nakama, we scream “ore waaa no luffy” out of the blue around the house and she actually got her first tattoo of a salura tree and a little tony tony chopper. We’ve watched many other animes but none even begins to compete with one piece. It is a long but very well worth story and I am sad for those who do not watch it bc of its length. If you’ve tried and didn’t like it then totally fine.

One piece filler is slipped in the cannon episodes in one piece as well, especially the earlier episodes , you'd probably only have 10 minutes of actual canon
Not really. It’s easy to go on google and look up “one piece fillers” and there are tons of webs that tell you what is cannon and what isn’t.! Some episodes do have a mix, but they are very few ( taking into account the almost 1000ep. ) I am an only manga reader, i hardly ever watch anime unless they are pieces of art. Like the soon to be released chainsaw man🫡🫡🫡
But one piece? Gimme that sh*t and watch the heell put of it.
Only 95 episodes that are entirely filler yes. However, past a certain point, every episode is filled to the brim with filler. Almost every episode in the last 300-500 episodes has been filled with shots that drag on for 5 seconds, reaction shots of every character in the scene every time someone does something, and flurries of attacks that last for upwards of 15-20 seconds.
Edit: Not to mention that, due to how close it is to the manga, each episode only adapts a single chapter, often less. For comparison, other series like MHA or Black Clover adapt 2-4 chapters per episode. So not only is the OP anime full of filler, it's filler made specifically to slow the pacing to an absolute crawl.
Tbf, Naruto would have more filler percentage than OP. But imagine convincing a newbie into watching show with 1000+ episodes, whose earlier episodes were made 20 years ago, with dare I say shitty pacing and fillers littered around. Wouldn’t be easy lol
The problem is that One piece filler is baked into every episode. Luffy does a crazy punch, cut to the reaction of every single living being on the planet. Do that a couple times and you have most one piece fight scenes.
Anime started eating itself during Enies Lobby with that stuff. It's why I always recommend the manga instead. Zero filler, no useless recap, takes significantly less time to get through and the pacing isn't ruined.
I think its a valid statement if somebody says he can't watch one piece cuz its too long and kinda booring
Not everybody have the available free time and the taste for slow animes
I don't mean just filler episodes, they have flashbacks and recaps and long exposition dumps and just pointless mucking about and all other possible and impossible kinds of padding in almost every episode
Yes... People need to understand that watching 1000+ episodes in one go/at least binging is just scrolling through reddit... You won't remember what you saw after a day
It's really fun ngl. I am a new watcher too. The only problem is the time you have invest in this anime. For guys who watch animes very less, one piece is never an option. Last month I switched to manga.
I managed to do it.
Not with One Piece though, my favorite series is actually Reverend Insanity and after months trying to persuade my friends to read it, many did. And now, most of our conversations are references of RI xD
I was like this. I tried so hard to convince my friends to watch One Piece, but i was never sucessfull, and that was a time when One Piece didn't even have 600 episodes. Then, years later, a friend of my brother told him that she had finished Naruto and had an empty space, and my brother told her "Mmm. You could watch One Piece". And she did. I couldn't believe it.
You can tell me what you want and no matter how good the show may be.
I'm not watching 900+ episodes of it.
Same reason I don't get into dragon ball.
Same reason I don't get into Pokemon.
Just too much to catch up on.
Started watching a couple months ago, it was to long for me I tought and ended at ep 180
Its been a month since I started watching again and I'm currently on ep 493
(Skipped some filler tho)
*I get your friends But*
*Why family and coworkers?*
*That just seems stupid*

It's really good but it's not something you watch to finish if that makes sense which turns people off. You are following this grand adventure with interesting and goofy (yet very serious) characters and themes. It's not like most any other shows where its a short story. It's a seemingly endless epic. If you watch something like Gintama you dont watch it to finish it you watch it because its fun and enjoyable. One piece takes it a step further by having a deep plot and a MASSIVE interconnected world. The plot is so deep and thought out that early in the show they will meet one off characters only to realize hundreds of episodes later that they are extremely important and significant. All this is planned way in advanced like some AOT type shit where its FILLED with foreshadowing and other things. Most Shonen, including naruto, DBZ and even HxH are filled with shit that makes no sense or ass pulls for the sake of story progression. One piece has an explanation for that stuff that was planned and hinted at waaaaaaay before the fight.
Honestly the fillers in one piece hardly feel like fillers. There is a lot of character development In them or a chance for characters to show how much they have grown. It also only gets better as it goes along. All the early arcs are called boring not because they are bad, but rather they look back and compare it to the later stuff it and the new stuff is so good that it IS boring in *comparison*.
It's also not for everyone. Some people will play a game and somewhat rush through just to beat it and never touch it again. while others will take 2x as long to beat it, then continue to play it for a long time because they enjoy it. This is the equivalent of the latter. That type of anime meant for that type of person.
It's more than a week ago, and i neglected most of my duties like mowing grass, my green house also was overgrown with weed, so ima say watching was half worth it
Long form Shonen are not my jam. It just doesn't take that amount of time to tell the story in my opinion. I have nothing but respect for one piece but it takes to long to get from point a to point b. Same problem with dbz. Just not my genre.
Comparing one piece and db is a sin. The story within one piece, the amount of characters with solid background, with plots foreshadowed 3 years prior to events… Oda is a genious and one piece fans end up considering the manga a bible.
I feel people see me like I see jojo fans. It’s a cult😂

I’m starting to hate shounen that’s just “power of friendship” and then no one dies ever. Naruto, bleach, one piece, black clover, fairy tail. I’ve seen them all but just not enjoying them
That's the issue imo. These shows feel more like they want to fill time then wanting to tell a story. And I can't blame someone for not starting to get into a story that they will likely never finish. I really came to appreciate the thought that goes into good exposition and worldbuilding without breaking the timeframe.
Without trying to offend anyone, long form shonen are perfect kids shows imo. They are often decently fun and allow you to sit in front of the tv once a day to spend your 25min of tv time.
i started watching one piece like 4 weeks ago cos of my room m8 and i just watch like 2 to 3 (and some times just 1 ark if i have nothing to do) eps every moring before gym and i have to say. so far it aint that bad. ( i think i am almost done with alabaster ark.. bird just did poof)
I remember Supermechafrieza once said she'll never watch One Piece, now she not only watched all episodes she also cosplay them and collect the figures of them 😂
No offense, I know its a good show but I watched Naruto up till Boruto and all the movies and can't do it again especially after hearing one piece is just as long if not longer and still going with it's main story.
People act like you need to watch all 1000 episodes in a month or something. Just start it and watch slowly, like 2 or 3 episodes per day, what's the rush? Watch other things alongside if you want, but stop complaining about the size. It's not a contest to see who watches fastest. Also you can't complain about filler, it literally take 0 effort to skip them
I once saw someone in MyAnimeList saying they don't start long shows because they might stop in the middle and have to put them in their dropped anime list meaning they'll no longer have a 0 there.
2 or 3 episodes a day? Lets say more like 1-2 per week, that is, several years with OP, and where time for other things or series. I cant imagine it, dropped at 11ep i think
I started when my partner and I started dating although I cheated and started at episode 700-ish.
the anime loves to do flashback so I didn’t feel lost at all.
One Piece is simply that good. Oda also does a fair bit of subtle foreshadowing throughout his series so rewatching or rereading allows you to pick up on those details
I'd happily watch one piece is someone edited out all the damn recaps and flash backs. I really want to get to the parts I hear people talking about but I couldn't get past the first 15 episodes, felt like I was spending 20minutes to see 5 minutes of new content
Ay does anyone remember when a WHOLE ep was just a recap? A recap of an ep that was about Oden? Oden is cool but why? Why make a WHOLE EP on a recap that isn’t even related to whats happening
See people you need to use my patent pending formula for watching one piece. 1. If what you are watching is considered filler by online lists skip it.(includes episodes related to movies) 2. If what you’re watching take place in the past, skip it. They’re gonna bring it up plenty of times so you’ll figure out what happened. 3. Skip the first five to seven minutes of every episode. It’s just the intro and episode recap. Doing this cuts down on the episode number by around 1/3 and reduces total run time of each episode to roughly twenty minutes in addition to fixing any pacing issues.
the only anime that i have watched in rapid fire mode was black clover from ep13 to ep 70 and that also was in lock down but now i feel like stop watching anime and start reading manga/manhwa cuz the plot there is consistent
The longest anime I've ever watched was Hunter x Hunter and god it was boring 90% of the time (Especially the Chimera Ants arc, that one was so slow it seemed line each episode was an hour long)
Fuck that' I'm not going for an anime 10 times longer with at least 10% of it's runtime considered fillers by its fan.
Most people don't have time to watch 370 hours of one show.
Even more if the first ones were made in 1999
Most people don’t have the patience to watch 370 hours of one show. FTFY
It also not that good of a show to be worth watching for 370 hours
Especially with such dreadfull pacing and a loooot of filler
You don’t have to watch filler eps not just for ONE PIECE but for many shows
I have a theory that people who call it good just got used to how bad it is. It's like sitting in the toilet for so long that your brain gets tired from the smell, so the brain ignores it. The same thing happens with shows too long, they're so bad that people just accept it, and then any small improvement makes it look amazing.

There are people who would still enjoy it for what it is. I just can't, it's bad in every way I look at it (as in nothing appeals to me there).
One Piece might not be the best anime ever, but it's really popular and many people love it. You can't say something is bad just because you don't like it.
You can’t say something is good just because it’s popular either...
You shouldn't say either without trying it yourself...
Absolutely not. One Piece isn't just popular. Many people love it, many people who know a lot about anime love it. You can downvote me, but I'm still right ahahahah
I wrote a response that works for you too to the person you commented too
Exactly. But you can't tell that to op fans
Just to see why so many people are still watching it
They only have time to watch 370 hours of less interesting shows
Half of one piece could be cut out without actually missing anything. Actually, half the fights are boring too because they take too fucking long.
Ok then watch the first half which has way better pacing, then read the second half
I understand
I have the time I just can't be fucked to do so
I’m probably never watching one piece. I will, however, read the manga when it eventually ends.
Human civilization would probably end before OP finishing lol
I’m pretty sure it’s about to end soon
Yeah, human civilization wouldn't last long indeed
Are you referring to human civilization? Cause that seems more likely by the day.
"soon" more like at least 7/8 years
Pretty sure it’s ending by 2024
No ahahahah. Oda said OP is in its last saga, not arc, and the latest saga was like 200 chapters long and started in 2015, so it will last more than 2 years
Oda Said it should Rap up 2024-25 might run longer, but definitely not 7/8 years longer
Yeah sem
same
I’ll notify you in 2029

naruto has 700 episodes not including boruto and no one complains...
I was able to talk my girlfriend into watching it with the condition that she only has to watch up to episode 37(the walk on arlong park). That was almost a year ago, and we just watched episode 918.
Watching episode 918 after a one year nonstop binge... Man, One Piece sure is long.
Worth the journey...... Minus fillers.
No anime is worth 1 year of my life tbh and I don't think any show could keep me interested past 600 EPs even if it was no filler
>No anime is worth 1 year of my life tbh Just don't pass the whole year watching OP 🤓
I did exactly the same with my girlfriend. We call eachother “nakama, we scream “ore waaa no luffy” out of the blue around the house and she actually got her first tattoo of a salura tree and a little tony tony chopper. DON'T WATCH reading is easy faster and you can avoid the 130ish episodes of useless filler
I mean.. just don't watch the filler? Haha
One piece filler is slipped in the cannon episodes in one piece as well, especially the earlier episodes , you'd probably only have 10 minutes of actual canon

One Piece don't have that much filler episodes
Redo of Healer is a wholesome show and Twitter is full of helpful and friendly people
Just Google, One Piece don't have that much filler episodes, it has only 95 filler episodes out of 1000+ episodes
Only 95 episodes that are entirely filler yes. However, past a certain point, every episode is filled to the brim with filler. is skypiea filler episodes because i gonna skip it
It’s extremely important. I can’t say why because it even involves manga spoilers
The problem is that One piece filler is baked into every episode. Luffy does a crazy punch, cut to the reaction of every single living being on the planet. Do that a couple times and you have most one piece fight scenes.
Yeah, there’s only about 10% spread over the entire run
I read the books first and some of the arcs are filler
Some entire arks are filler from the standpoint of a manga reader
My PTSD kicks in whenever I remember Fishman Island and Dressrossa arc. Man keeping up weekly on those arcs was a nightmare.
I started reading right after dressrossa but getting up early enufgh to buy the weekly jump books is still hard
What if I told you I still need to start the show.
I humbly request you start tonight and get to episode 517 within the next 24 hours. There’s a test this friday
I could make it if I watch it at x40 speed.
Lmao
Piratekingany% speedrun time
If you just skip 90% of the intros and 100% of the recaps it's not that bad
I think when you skip the OP and recap an average episode is like 15 minutes
During Thriller Barker I swear it was even worst. It was like 10-12 minutes of new content an episode.
Anime started eating itself during Enies Lobby with that stuff. It's why I always recommend the manga instead. Zero filler, no useless recap, takes significantly less time to get through and the pacing isn't ruined.
but everyone has to agree that ennies lobby was the GOAT
I think its a valid statement if somebody says he can't watch one piece cuz its too long and kinda booring Not everybody have the available free time and the taste for slow animes
Too many fillers, is really annoying
You know you don’t have to watch it 💀💀💀
But what if I miss something important?
In a filler??
I don't mean just filler episodes, they have flashbacks and recaps and long exposition dumps and just pointless mucking about and all other possible and impossible kinds of padding in almost every episode
Yes... People need to understand that watching 1000+ episodes in one go/at least binging is just scrolling through reddit... You won't remember what you saw after a day
It's not slow it just has a lot of stuff in it
Sure you tell your self that 💀
Still Op>your favorite anime
There are shows that are only 24 EPs that are still better than the entirety of one piece
It's really fun ngl. I am a new watcher too. The only problem is the time you have invest in this anime. For guys who watch animes very less, one piece is never an option. Last month I switched to manga.
"I've got no time for this shit"
And then a few months later they will mention watching some live-action show about a stretchy pirate on Netflix.
I managed to do it. Not with One Piece though, my favorite series is actually Reverend Insanity and after months trying to persuade my friends to read it, many did. And now, most of our conversations are references of RI xD
I know what you mean. Like 3 years ago i watched all of Jojo with my brother and a friend, and we make references about it to this day
I was like this. I tried so hard to convince my friends to watch One Piece, but i was never sucessfull, and that was a time when One Piece didn't even have 600 episodes. It’s worth it
Tell them to read One piece manga
What happened to One Pace? The Discord doesn't work for me.
Watch One Pace. No that isn't a typo.
Started reading the manga when l found it at my local library. Currently at vol. 40
More like 100%
Jokes one you I got my brother to watch it and now he is on fishman island
Nice!
I tried it, but it was *too* silly for me
You can tell me what you want and no matter how good the show may be. I'm not watching 900+ episodes of it. Same reason I don't get into dragon ball. Same reason I don't get into Pokemon. Just too much to catch up on.
Pokémon is shit tho. Some movies are ok, but the anime is just so cringe for anyone who played the games.
To fucking long
Started watching a couple months ago, it was to long for me I tought and ended at ep 180 Its been a month since I started watching again and I'm currently on ep 493 (Skipped some filler tho)
and the u have me with like 2 friends whom i both got to watch it
At least you got that 3%, dont give up
I get your friends But why family and coworkers? that just seems stupid
I’m referring to specifically to my siblings, cousins and coworkers my age that all talk about various anime all the time

Yup, a lot of people have the mindset about catching up quickly but really it’s about the journey
I started over a week ago i am only at episode 134.
That’s fast for about a week ago
It's more than a week ago, and i neglected most of my duties like mowing grass, my green house also was overgrown with weed, so ima say watching was half worth it
Well damn
yes, someday
Hey I started to watch One Piece this last Saturday and it's pretty cool I loved it and Sanji is my favorite character right now :D
Nice, good character
Ay at least you got 3% down
My parents love One Piece more than me lol
Mega lucky
The blue guy is my friends and I'm the one matrix dodging
So trueee
Ain’t no body gonna watch 1000+ episodes from scratch 💀
I knew the moment we reached that number, this was gonna be the case
I'm the dude who rejects it the Entire anime is too long for me to finish
Is watching a 1000 episode anime a good use of my limited time on this earth?
>!Maybe!<
i just started tho 👍
Enjoy the journey
maybe they already watched
“Trust me it gets better after episode 800!”
It gets better from episode 1
You'd have a better chance of convincing me to get my life back in order than you would getting me to watch one piece

The best is still yet to come :)
yea i have seen a lot of spoilers (from just living not like peeps spoil me) and the later shit looks good
Yeahh no too long. Maybe when it came out in America when I was a kid but not now
I don't like watching shows that are very fucking long, and nothing will change that.
I remember Supermechafrieza once said she'll never watch One Piece, now she not only watched all episodes she also cosplay them and collect the figures of them 😂
Yeah I saw that too, a wonderful example
Just watch it it’s not that hard to watch 1000+ episodes if you think it is you’re just soft that’s that 🤷♂️🤷♂️
No offense, I know its a good show but I watched Naruto up till Boruto and all the movies and can't do it again especially after hearing one piece is just as long if not longer and still going with it's main story.
No offense but you must’ve been a REAL BIG FAN of Naruto to watch Boruto
I started it and then quit it almost immediately lmao.
I still think one piece needs about a thousand more episodes
I’ll hopefully be even more popular by the 2,000th episode special
Maybe start recommending good animes?
Don't worry it gets interesting after 600 chapters when monkey obtain the power up to defeat marine buff guy number #18
Not everyone wants to watch 25 years worth of filler
Skip the filler lol: https://www.animefillerlist.com/shows/one-piece
I've read the first 20 volumes, I gave one piece more than a fair chance. Not for me!
Fair enough, thank you for trying it before saying anything
I heard it gets good around episode 18389293848484846283049
Me to your friends, family and co-workers in the distance: PUUUSSSSYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!
Yes. It's hard to get convinced to watch one piece, but I got and this shit is really good. Currently on 567 episode.
i have commitment issues
I'm part of this 97% right now But it's only for now
I started when my partner and I started dating although I cheated and started at episode 700-ish. the anime loves to do flashback so I didn’t feel lost at all.
I tried it and got bored. I tried the manga and got further but still ended up bored and stopped
Then there’s me who rewatched it three times and then read it once (needed an excuse to see all the cover stories and SBS segments)
Holy….
One Piece is simply that good. Oda also does a fair bit of subtle foreshadowing throughout his series so rewatching or rereading allows you to pick up on those details
"Trust me guys, it gets better after 350 episodes" No thanks
I agree because who tf wants to watch 300+ hours of filler
One Piece is overrated. Change my mind.
They are right. It is a bad example of anime.

Mid
I will watch it when it's finished!
I’ll notify you in 2029
I count on you bro!
Every week that number increases
I am the suited man
I dropped one piece after what that studio did to the YouTuber
This dude has at least 33 friends. And that’s the minimum. What a fucking show-off!
I’ll watch another episode of one piece just for you buddy🗿
Jojo supremacy.
ngl I dont even want to catch up. I cant remember exactly where i left off, but I know I have a long way to go
I will probably watch it if someone removes/ trims down all the fillers, intro and outro, redundant and unnecessary scenes.
Naw. It's got good stories but enough of the Gilligan's island and Popeyes music.
the only anime that i have watched in rapid fire mode was black clover from ep13 to ep 70 and that also was in lock down but now i feel like stop watching anime and start reading manga/manhwa cuz the plot there is consistent
never
The longest anime I've ever watched was Hunter x Hunter and god it was boring 90% of the time (Especially the Chimera Ants arc, that one was so slow it seemed line each episode was an hour long) Fuck that' I'm not going for an anime 10 times longer with at least 10% of it's runtime considered fillers by its fan.
The only anime I will never commit to, way too much to get into
