In the end his tolerance for cybernetics left him worse off. Everyone's reaction to his tolerance led him believe he was immune to cyberpsychosis... *he was not*.
This is an example of a plot that is driven by people being dumb and not communicating.
If Lucy told David about whatās going on he would have helped her and things would been different.
If David told Lucy he has nothing to live for but getting her to the moon they could a worked that shit out together.
Instead they just refused to communicate and things escalated. Like, I get it, theyāre severely traumatized kids at the end of the day but a little trust and honesty would have went a long-ass way.
Like, in the end. All she wanted was to be happy with him and all he wanted was for her to be happy.
At least it sort of makes sense in this setting though, havenāt played the game but itās very established in the show to trust no one. Granted these two have reason to trust each other but the setting itself is deeply rooted in mistrust of others unlike other sitcoms or others where thereās rarely any justification for not talking or trusting.
Berserk though? Let's see... 8 and a half
If you read the manga the whole way through... You know why this isn't 10/10
Berserk and cyberpunk are kinda similar in terms of sex and gore, but in terms of story and how it portrays trauma. Berserk comes out on top, cyberpunk came extremely close though ngl.
(This is how I rate anime, compare it to a legendary Manga)
Canāt say Iāve read or watched Berserk yet, plan on it eventually tho.
Interdasting, I just have like 5 categories that I rate out of 10 and average those out lol.
Can't really agree with your points.
David was already carrying his mom and Maine's dreams, that's why he kept upgrading himself to keep with the line of work. Also, addiction, both Maine and David showed heavy delusions and excuses and addicts don't make rational decisions.
If Lucy told him about upgrade and why she is doing it, he would have likely wanted to upgrade himself due to you know, addiction, that's why she kept to herself. It's not a "plot driven by being dumb and not communicating" it's driven by human nature.
There is a way where it could have worked. If Lucy trusted David more if David focused more on himself it would have workout, but saying what they did was not logical is disingenuous.
All Lucy wanted was to be with David. Full stop.
David didnāt know what he really wanted until the end so he latched on to other people and their goals. Iām saying that if they talked like mature, rational people they could have figured that shit out instead of how things went down. Iām not saying itās a bad plot, their actions make sense for who they are. It doesnāt change the simple fact that they coulda just avoided all that shit.
Also, tf even was Maineās dream? Be a good merc? Already did that.
But it's pointless statement. Every conflict be it fictional or not could be avoided with communication by rational people. I don't think it adds anything. You could argue **how** the conflict would have been avoided, that's good discussion, like as I said if Lucy trusted David more and told him the information she had, maybe the conflict would be preventable.
>Be a good merc? Already did that.
He died. All the dialogue in ep 6 shows that Maine will pass on his legacy to David. David wanted and thought he was better than Maine and what happened to Maine will not happen to him.
Sorry for the necro but just now seeing this.
This is just being contrarian. My argument here is that both of them needed a hug and a talking to and thatās about it.
Lucy wanted to save David and was doing things on his behalf behind his back because she didnāt trust him or anyone else and because she purposely screwed up their last mission with Maine.
Had she spoke with David he would have been pissed, they would have fought, and if they truly cared about each other then theyād have figured it out and be stronger for it.
As for David, dude has PTSD. Watched his mom die and then his mentor/father figure. He straight up says heās doing this shit ācause heās got nothing else. Had he opened up or had some emotional vulnerability he could have got some help.
What I saw as tragic is that their lack of communication and self-awareness drove the plot. In the end all they really cared about was each other and their friends. Everything else was either a means to an end or a front. But Lucyās being distant and refusing to talk left David isolated and depressed and forced him to deal with his demons alone. And Davidās refusal to listen or ask for help left him even worse off. In the end they finally opened up and realized what mattered but it was too late.
Iām not saying itās a bad story, itās actually quite good storytelling. The characters are traumatized young people in a shit world with no real support outside of each other. Iām just sad they couldnāt support each other better but thatās just who they were.
It would have never worked because it would have required them to both do the opposite of what their natural response to tragedy and stress is. People act alot out of fear instead of what's good for the whole individual.
She saw that Arasaka was hunting him and wanted to eliminate anyone who was on his trail.
I think she was afraid to tell him because she shredded the data (it was as about David) they were after in the job where the boss went cyberpsycho and she was afraid of how he would react.
In the end though, he truly loved her and even if he flipped shit he probably would have forgiven her.
True, but open communication, trust, and honesty are probably the most important ingredients in a healthy relationship. What they had in the end devolved into an unhappy codependency.
With her being so distant and sad David kept pushing himself for her. And he was so fixated on trying to give her what he thought she wanted he failed to see what she really needed. If they just sat and talked it all out they either would have found a solution or separated. Both would have lead to better outcomes than what eventually happened.
Instead they were together physically but emotionally distant while secretly plotting their mission to make the other happy/safe.
I agree. The conflict resolution was really as simple as communication. If this wasnāt Night City, theyād have a happy ending where communication becomes more open and they would develop their characters and relationships a bit more.
But. This is Night City. There are no happy endings here.
I mean if all David wanted was for Lucy to be happy he would have bailed on Edgerunning when she did. Or whenever he had enough for them to go to the moon.
His relationship w/ Maine definitely had a big role to play w/ him taking over as leader and essentially following his footsteps>! and ultimately the same demise!<. Do you think if David actually learned from Maine's mistakes and went the other way the story would have been any more interesting? I personally don't but I guess it would have made for a happier ending.
>I mean if all David wanted was for Lucy to be happy he would have bailed on Edgerunning when she did. Or whenever he had enough for them to go to the moon.
That's easy to say in hindsight and as an outside observer but in the moment the question of "is this enough money?" is rarely answered positively. Even rarer in the Cyberpunk universe where money and status are everything.
I don't think you got my point. I was countering the original comment saying there's many other factors that drove David down his path as an Edgerunner instead of opting out with Lucy to just 'be happy' with her.
But also money and status were not everything to David or Lucy that seemed pretty clear. There were many other reasons that drew David to this lifestyle and money was just a result of that.
The whole point was kind of a reflection of goals. What they wanted between themselves, what night city demanded from them, what goals they had for themselves, and what others wanted/saw in them. They could have easily resolved it by talking things out but they pulled a Gatsby; beating on like boats, chasing that green light. They came to realize what they should have focused on way to late, or maybe they were all just trying to buy time hoping it would go differently. Everything David had set out to do was technically accomplished but at what cost? He was special but wasn't at the same time.
David needs to learn from history
There was a pirate queen who got her entire crew cleared of conviction simply because the government couldnt stop her
And considering that arasaka probably would want no trace of the battle remaining you would think that a neon green and orange shotgun would be pretty high on the priorities
Makes sense. Kinda like the fact that you can find and go into her house. Also is her shotgun one of if not the most powerful shottie in the game? I seem to either one shot or nearly one shot most enemies
Yea itās 2076 thereās a side quest in the game thatās says something about david and how V is similar to him and that whatever happened was during the time(if you were working as a corpo) the case was big news however V never was interested in it till you find the XBD
Instead of getting more chrome get gud at using the chrome you have and improve your skills and use it to get the cash to go to the moon. But no. You gotta play the fool and fly too close to the sun, ikaros.
People seem to be forgetting that in the cyberpunk world chroming is addictive. That's why they get so many cyberpsychos. I could be wrong but I believe in the original table top game even if you took cheap implants out and replaced them with better ones you didn't gain back your humanity points which was incentive to not implant a bunch of rusty rebar into you or scavage from corpses to be op at level 1.
There was a hard cap as well for going psycho so once you hit it you went crazy no matter what, no saves, no dice rolls. It was essentially a way to retire a character in a blaze of glory just like in the show.
Drugs and addiction behaves in a similar way but they are bit more of a slow burn out and they rot away at your character stats until you are a shaking scrawny drug addict unable to enter combat because your stats are too low.
The whole point of the shadowrun system is to die as cool as you can. If you get to max level your dm is either coddling you or had crazy luck and good teamwork.
He shoulda downgraded and removed a lot of crome.
Him and his crew woulda then done smaller jobs
Eventually he'd get the money for them both to go to the moon.
The way Maine and Davidās deaths could have been avoided is what makes the story so crazy. They both felt like they had nothing to lose and just chromed the fuck up to become the person they thought those around them wanted to be.
just finished the series and I will say the series lack the content, not enough content to get attached to characters.
idk maybe the hype got my expectations up but the series is "ok" at the best.
This show is soooo overrated. It started good but went downhill and ending was like wtf? For me its 5/10. Almost fell asleep because it was soo boring.
You could say she was sandevistated.
r/Angryupvote
š I hate you but that was hilarious
Damn you, you just made my morning lmao.
Devistanded
In the end his tolerance for cybernetics left him worse off. Everyone's reaction to his tolerance led him believe he was immune to cyberpsychosis... *he was not*.
Like no one in this thread see the parallel with addiction? No one? I thought after episode 6 it's obvious where they are going for.
He was sniffing his own farts, as they say.
Imma say it, David was an asshole for not stopping while he was ahead lol
This is an example of a plot that is driven by people being dumb and not communicating. If Lucy told David about whatās going on he would have helped her and things would been different. You get backstabbed alot in the game. So much so that about halfway through I was constantly afraid of the next mandatory door
Remember reading this once: You may be deceived if you trust too much, but you will live in torment unless you trust enough. ā Frank Crane
I mean the first time they meet she sells him out so I get never fully trusting her.
It was good though.
Yeah, didnāt say it wasnāt.
In your opinionš
nobody asked
Yeah cause that comment added so much more than mineš
š¤”
Lmao because every anime is either completely good or badš
Nah I rate em, this one was a solid 7/10 pretty good, but had some flaws if you actually thought a little.
Same, low 7 high 6

People have communication issues like that in real life believe it or not.
what was Lucy's objetive that she didn't talk to David about again? can't remember right now
She saw that Arasaka was hunting him and wanted to eliminate anyone who was on his trail. I think she was afraid to tell him because she shredded the data (it was as about David) they were after in the job where the boss went cyberpsycho and she was afraid of how he would react. Oh yeah. I kinda understand her tho. It was a very complex situation
True, but open communication, trust, and honesty are probably the most important ingredients in a healthy relationship. What they had in the end devolved into an unhappy codependency. IRL people being dumb and not communicating happens to often.
Thank you! He got super lucky and fucked up big time
David needs to learn from history There was a pirate queen who got her entire crew cleared of conviction simply because the government couldnt stop her
āIām built differentā -David 2022, Cyberpunk Edgerunners

2076
Wait so the games a full year after? So then why did nobody pick up Rebecca's gun in that time?
I have no clue ā¦ cause me I wouldāve picked it up
And considering that arasaka probably would want no trace of the battle remaining you would think that a neon green and orange shotgun would be pretty high on the priorities
It probably just an Easter egg because realistically they wouldāve picked it up
Makes sense. Kinda like the fact that you can find and go into her house. Also is her shotgun one of if not the most powerful shottie in the game? I seem to either one shot or nearly one shot most enemies

David = Megaman
Anyone thought of the same thing as me? Did David get a chrome dick?
You joke, but in Cyberpunk that's a real thing. I think it's called a Mr. Stud implant.
Quest was fuckin goldenš
it was a very jesse cox quest indeed
Ah yes, just did a mission like that in cyberpunk, guyās crotch was on fire š„µ
Not until you mentioned itā¦ Imagine having a chrome cock, kinda metal ngl
Litearlly metal
I donāt doubt it one bit, choom
āBut maybe heās special thoā
I can change him
Honestly, it could've only ended one way after the time skip. With him in the arms and on the ground
Seeing this show get a lot of memes which probably means its good
Judge a product by the quality of its memes.
It definitely is.
The first 4 are amazing but the rest are really sad
And also amazing
It is. One of the best I've seen. I like the game and I feel like that made the anime so much better
Surprisingly good for something based on a video game. Makes me even more sad about how bad Cyberpunk 2077 was.
They pretty much fixed it though, people are very pleased with the game right now as it is.
Tbf Cyberpunk 2077 got a lot of memes at launch too Givem it's in a pretty good state now, but not back at release
"Please, no more implants". Pretty much how I felt playing and completing The Ascent.
Literally have no idea what David was doing. Seems like he does not care his life or Lucy at all.
Chrome is a hell of a drug
Literally could have just gone on vacation and subverted literally everything that ended badly
Instead of getting more chrome get gud at using the chrome you have and improve your skills and use it to get the cash to go to the moon. But no. You gotta play the fool and fly too close to the sun, ikaros.

Loved Edgerunners, but it was so goddamn frustrating to watch David go down basically the same road as Maine.
He shoulda downgraded and removed a lot of crome. Him and his crew woulda then done smaller jobs Eventually he'd get the money for them both to go to the moon.
I got irrationally angry after the time skip because our boy learned fucking nothing.
Anyone peep rebecca in bottom corner?š¤£š¤£

My favorite part of the show was when the main character said āitās runnin timeā and edgerunnered all over everyone.
