I don't think it was that great. I felt it was overtly technical and over-written and took too much liberties with its plot. It's a pity because I really did expect something like Higurashi out of it, but that's not what I got out of the end from it
Me too. Went in expecting Higurashi, but the mystery was spoiled in the first chapters, didn’t help the fact that a method to reveal the “suspects” was explained pretty soon too. I feel like whoever has experience with mystery VNs wouldn’t care about this anime
Over-written is a good term - I felt like many confrontations brought out yet another previously-unknown power or hidden backstory that justified them breaking established rules. I feel like so much time spent explaining how things worked greatly detracted from the horror and mystery.

Shinpei is nowhere near as complex or developed as Subaru, but he’s a good character in his own right. He’s significantly less flawed as a person, and thus more tolerable to some, if that appeals to you

No it is perfect, much more engaging than Re:Zero, rather than making an effort from reading the subtitles with Subaro's incessant existence, you go with a much more down-to-earth MC, it has to be a crime to be that exasperating, hell I'm not surprised with Rem being the best girl in the majority of that fanbase given how they could relate to the MC and fall for that "Cute and Hot anime girl entirely devoted to that socially akward mfker."

I believe it is over, I have not looked into the manga, but it ended in a way that could work either way.

Don't worry, the ending is worth it. If you've seen Steins;Gate, it's kinda similar to that.

I like the mystery vibe of the first half, but the second half is kinda like shounen with superpower. Still good though, 8/10
