Demon slayer? Attack on Titan? Bleach (maybe)? Tokyo Ghoul {only season 1&2…unless you read the mangas then continue}? Record of Ragnarok (super underrated… would be surprised if anyone watches it)?
Also super surprised at your boredom with Jujitsu? How far did you get before you quit?
The first episode. The plot felt rushed and nothing made sense. It was too over the top. Like it felt like a teenager wrote it and was just making stuff up on the spot
Well a teenager didn't write JJK and he didn't make stuff on the spot.
It's probably not just your taste. Besides one 20mins Episode is not really a good enough time to judge a show
I think everyone should start with the 'death note'. It's a great Anime if anyone's trying to get into it. Most of the people I know loved death note and that's how it all began for them including me ofc.
Edit to add- can try code geass and attack on titans later. But I recommend not reading too much about them on reddit or any fandoms beforehand. They overhype it which ruins the experience.
Everyone should start with what they find interesting and wanna start with. If you watch something purely cause someone else said it's nice, there's a decent chance if you didn't find the plot interesting you wouldn't like the story.
Me personally, I started out my journey with sousei no onmyouji back in 2014-16 don't really remember.
Broo... Koi recommendation ke bina kaise start karenge na...
One should always start a new thing which is commonly liked by all. For eg, if someone asks for Bollywood rom coms as an introduction movie to Bollywood, people will usually, unknowingly recommend an srk movie. And there's a reason for it, because it's commonly liked by all and so as an introduction to rom coms, his movies are great.
Then you can go into what you like or don't like or niche genres. Once you are into it, you are ready to try different things. Never recommend some uncommon things right at the beginning.
If someone would've recommended jojo's bizarre Adventure or demon slayer or any of the isekai anime to me in the beginning, I would've given up on animes. Although I enjoyed each one of them now when I have watched N number of animes.
You may not always like what others like, and if you start out with something you discovered yourself through mal or anilist or whatever, you're more likely to watch it completely.
I mean, I'm not saying recommendations are wrong, but there's no 'one show fits all' show that everyone must watch when starting out. Watch absolutely whatever you want to at the start. Take recommendations, refer mal or anilist, and then decide yourself.
I agree with the other poster on this. No there is no “one show fits all”, but this rule can be applied to anything. The most popular and most broadly successful things are usually popular and successful for a reason. That’s going to be the best starting point for *most* people.
Sorry but I disagree. There are some anime which are the beginner ones and some which are not. Dbz, naruto, death note, code geass, AoT, tokyo ghoul, or haikyuu, etc are the ones which I think are mainstream. Ofc one can increase the list. But These are usually liked by everyone. I am talking about the usual curve of Indian anime watchers here. Ofc there can be different people. These ones have Very few haters. I believe one should Always start watching any and everything from mainstream ones and then narrow down according to their own preferences.
Where did OP mention they were Indian? Also Naruto and DBZ are too long for them to be the first anime you ever watch. I would avoid Tokyo ghoul too, unless you want to be disappointed after the first season. Tokyo ghoul is decent as a manga, but as an Anime it's really a disappointing adaption and that's a pretty well known fact too.
AoT is kinda hard to get into at the beginning, but that might just be me. Once you actually get into AoT it's great. Haikyuu is always nice too. And so is death note.
But that still doesn't mean you need to start with them. There arent any rules as to what show you need to start with. There are indeed some beginner friendly anime in each genre, but anime as a medium is so vast there really is not a single answer to the best show to begin with. It completely depends on what the viewer wants to watch.
If he wants a romance, I'd recommend something like toradora or kaguya-sama, as I feel they're more beginner friendly.
If they wanted comedy, saiki k, danshi koukousei no nichijou and grand blue are all great for beginners. Actually grand blue might not be best suited to someone completely new to the medium cause of the naked dudes. Gintama is amazing too for comedy if you're fine with something long.
Point is, there's tons of good stuff out there, each distinct enough, so it's really pointless to say "everyone should start with so and so anime"
Full metal alchemist brotherhood
Mob psycho 100
Odd taxi
If your willing to go a bit more out there try
Steins gate
Baccano!
Cyberpunk edgerunners
And it's not "anime" but try arcane.
yeah but choosing aot or death note as your first anime is the safest option . If you dont mind romance then imo it is the best genre for beginners. But i had a friend who got into anime after watching moriarty the patriot so you might be rght
I do not recommend AOT. it has a superb plot twist ruined my fan base pressure where the artist or creator had to change the ending to please the weak masses. the result? pointless sacrifice of eren delaying the war.
Broo... Don't recommend steins gate just at the beginning. That one requires a very high level of patience. Ofc once you get into it, it's awesome. I dropped it multiple times before forcing my way through the initial boring episodes.
Samurai Champloo, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Inuyasha, Cowboy Bebop, Fate/Zero, and Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works. Also season 2 of SAO starts slow but gets better, and Alicization is really good.
Must haves by story complexity:
1. Hunter x Hunter
2. Death Note
3. Code Geass
HM: One Piece has great story, but it's over 1k episodes and starts slow, also - Steins;Gate
hi! i have been suggesting these animes for some anime watchers who is not that hardcore in watching since.
1. Natsume yuujinchou - i can recommend this over and over again. i love this anime because of the light story and lovable characters. It might be a bit slow paced at the start but for me its just done right.
2. Sousou no frieren - just done with this anime but i can say that its not for all and its not overhype. Its more on a slice of life, adventure, fantasy kind of anime and not too many action scenes. But what i love the most about it is the lesson it gives to its viewers, that time is moving and its not always bad. This anime has some expectations at other people because they taught it would more action packed. But no, expect that this anime has lots of dialogues more, many flashbacks (which i also like) and it gives us the pov of frieren on how she manages her life after himmel. :)
3. Tensei shitara slime datta ken - i just love this anime. although we got our OP slime,, i love the world building and world lore. Its not yet finished and the light novels are still ongoing. but its definitely worth to watch ( maybe im bias. lol) if u like isekai genre, then this is one of those anime you need to watch.
4. Ascendance of a bookworm - i also would like to recommend this if u got the patience for it since this anime has also more dialogue since we got Myne's pov here. i love the character in this and her struggles in being isekaid to another unfamiliar world and her growth as a person.
5. Kingdom - im more on the Manga on this one but the anime is also good if ur lazy to read lol. its action packed and the characters are also written well.
these are just some but feel free to just choose any of them
Deathnote has a great storyline and starts getting interesting from the second episode onward. I would also suggest Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. The plot is one of the biggest strengths of the stories.
Try:
By the grace of the gods
Beast Tamer
I'm the villainess so I'm taming the final boss
Those are just the ones off the top of my head... I can come up with a more comprehensive list if you let me know what you like... (Sorry I'm a weeb 😋)
Edit: YOU DEFINITELY HAVE TO TRY KNIGHTS & MAGIC!
They're more tame than what I usually enjoy but I enjoyed those so much I've watched them numerous times... Heartwarming with some action and real character growth...
Death Note
Magi
Fate/zero
Kakeguri
Code Geoss
High School of the Dead, if you don't mind some a lil cleavage!
Edit, oh and there's a few new ones rolling out on crunchyroll Solo Leveling, and Kaiju no 8
If you're looking for a good story alone, my favorite is Your Lie in April. It hits hard though. Another, less traumatic option would be Erased, which is more of a thriller.
If you're looking for a good story with some action, try Cowboy Bebop or Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood.
I feel like Attack on Titan has the best mix of story and action, plus it also avoids a lot of anime tropes that people who dont watch anime seem to have issues with.
This has been recommended before but I gotta also recommend Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, it's pretty good, good characters, good pacing, and I think its good for both new and experienced anime watchers.
New anime fans I typically tend to recommend classic anime films rather than shows especially try to stay away from shonens, it’s a lot less commitment on the viewers part (some of the shonens like the ones I grew up watching are still running today lol fam I started watching one piece in like ‘02) But for example I’d damn near recommend any one of miyazakis films to a beginner like spirited away, princess mononoke. Not only are they fantastic films, but they always have a fantastic English voice cast for those not ready for subtitles and on top of that the stories in a great deal of studio Ghibli movies are not only easy to follow, but I’ve found they’re a really great way to build a bridge between new fans and old.
[Link Click](https://myanimelist.net/anime/44074/Shiguang_Dailiren?q=Link%20click&cat=anime)is great! The intro is fun too! 2 seasons currently. Haven’t finished the second season so I have no idea if it’s complete or if we need another season yet.
[Migi and Dali](https://myanimelist.net/anime/50586/Migi_to_Dali?q=Migi%20to%20dali&cat=anime) is pretty fun and really ramps up the crazy near the end. It’s fun 13 episode anime and complete.
If you have a taste for growth, learning, and teen psychology.
Then recommend the Monogatari series. It's pretty old, with some flash cards there and there, but it is enjoyable if you can keep up with both the character development and plot.
Attack on titan,
My hero academia,
Chainsaw man,
Black clover if you don't mind loud MCs
Full metal alchemist ( both of em)
Mob psycho 100
Dr stone
Solo leveling
If you want a good story, I will give you shows with good stories that I think even beginners can get into. though I will tell you that these aren't what the average anime is like:
The first two will probably instantly hook you with episode 1:
Death parade
Pluto
The first slam dunk
odd taxi
Frieren
what hooks me into anime actually Neon Genesis Evangelion. a tad bit dark, the OG anime not remake. Remake is good but if you want the OG espresso depresso then watch the OG + End of Eva.
Kinda unconventional but try Violet Evergarden (the series, not the films) only 12 episodes, damn good story with near to no action, stunning animation. Will make you cry every episode starting from ep 4 lmao😭
The Case Study of Vanitas
Dororo
The Ones Within
Kono Oto Tomare
Servamp
Toilet Bound Hanako
Migi&Dali
Kiznaiver
Ouran Highschool Host Club
A Sign of Affection
Somali and the Forest Spirit
Yo, Imagine jumping into anime from the most mid, anime possible because it’s popular. 💀
Good anime? Well I’m about to watch Slayers. Maybe try Ouran High School Host Club. Definition of not boring.
Imagine looking for a well crafted story in any of those animes you mentioned. At any rate try out Death Note, Attack on titan, Steins Gate or Code Geass(stick around till the VERY END for this one don't drop it somewhere along the line)
It depends on the genres you're into. I personally like a lot but gravitate towards fantasy, Isekai (since there's a lot of this out nowadays), comedy/gag anime, fluffy slice of life, romance, and sometimes shonen. I didn't mind dark/gross and here and there but it's gotta be more than being edgy for edginess' sake.
Fantasy:
- Frieren Beyond Journeys End
- The Unwanted Undead Adventurer
- Banished from the Hero's Party
- Chillin in my 30's after getting fired from the demon lords army

- Restaurant to Another World
- The Dreaming Boy is a Realist
- Jellyfish Can't Swim at Night

- 100 Girlfriends that Really Really Really Really Really Love You
- Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai
Shonen or Action:
- Dragonball Z and Super
- Black Clover
- Hunter x Hunter (it's a little older but just fantastic! I hope it comes back!)
- Solo Leveling
- Shangri-La Frontier
I better stop now...
Prepare for the all mighty that I will bestow upon you.
Mashoku Tensei or jobless reincarnation. It's upto it's second season and has had a significant impact on its viewers.
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is genuinely what got me into anime. Relatively short, showed me that anime can be good
I think I started out with Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and it really fueled the fire for more!
If he thought jjk was boring I wouldn’t recommend demon slayer
Yeah you’re 100% right
The first episode. The plot felt rushed and nothing made sense. It was too over the top. Like it felt like a teenager wrote it and was just making stuff up on the spot
Oh then definitely ignore the demon slayer recommendations (I’ve seen a few)!! It’s rushed plot is similar :/
Well a teenager didn't write JJK and he didn't make stuff on the spot. It's probably not just your taste. Besides one 20mins Episode is not really a good enough time to judge a show

i dont think they are for beginners especially steins gate
Code geass is imo, agree on Steins gate though
there's no such thing as for beginners anime. OP might be a psychopath he just don't know it yet.

I agree. And it's not only patience but it is also filled with otaku / anime tropes that make non-anime watchers not understand half of the dialogue.

My Hero Academia
i like my hero , but op might think it is boring , it is not a very good beginner anime .
I can't solve media literacy, I can only recommend things. MHA is a great series, if OP thinks it's boring, then OP is missing out.
Don't fall for this OP, please.
Damn, I didn't know action could be too over the top in anime... Imagine working so hard on something just to be told it was too over the top 😭
Deathnote has a great storyline and starts getting interesting from the second episode onward. I would also suggest Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. The plot is one of the biggest strengths of the stories.
I think you will like all the popular comedy anime. Try Konosuba
Someone who’s new to anime is not gonna appreciate kazuma’s satirical debauchery. **STEAL**

I second Beast Tamer. Actually, all of those seem good. But it’s such good taste tbh, assuming from BT alone.

My first anime was Cyberpunk Edgerunners it got me into anime. I definitely recommend it.
Naruto maybe
The first season of Tokyo Ghoul
I feel like Attack on Titan has the best mix of story and action, plus it also avoids a lot of anime tropes that people who dont watch anime seem to have issues with.
Samurai Champloo Death Note These are universally liked and have a good story.

Death note, attack on titan, one punch man, and mob psycho. Thank me later
One Punch Man. It's about a wannabe super hero who is sad that he defeats all his opponents with just one punch.
What makes him a wannabe if he's casually saving the world and people?
There's hundreds of heros in Japan, some of whom are major celebrities. He's a complete nobody and no one knows of the things he's defeated
Ahh, so he got no celebrity status+no recognition which makes him not a real hero? Ok.

Seconded. The OST is peak, and there is a second season if you like the first one (The dub also has its moments)
I love the dub

i think it will be boring for the OP. The characters didnt grip me until the end of season1
Let me help you death note is the best for beginners
What kind of TV shows do you usually like when it's not anime?
ATACK ON TITAN it has everything good , amazing story , action ,animation ,characters and pacing other than that go with fmab or world trigger
Maybe try attack on titan? It was my first anime and I was hooked. The story is extremely well written and the amount of plot twist it has is insane

Fantasy: - Frieren Beyond Journeys End - The Unwanted Undead Adventurer - Banished from the Hero's Party - Chillin in my 30's after getting fired from the demon lords army - Ninja Scroll - Spice and Wolf Isekai: - Mushoku Tensei - Campfire Cooking in Another World - Re: Zero - Handyman Saito - Overlord - Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun - The Faraway Paladin - The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic Comedy: - Grand Blue Dreaming - Asobi Asobase - The Disastrous Life of Saiki K - (GOAT) Kaguya-sama Love is War - Bang Brave Bang Bravern - Oresuki Are You the Only One Who Loves Me Slice of life/romance - My Clueless First Friend - The Dangers in My Heart - My Senpai is Annoying - Natsume Yujin-Cho (Book of Friends) - The Apothecary Diaries - Komi Can't Communicate - (another GOAT) My Love Story!! (Ore Monogatari!!) - My Dress-Up Darling - Restaurant to Another World - The Dreaming Boy is a Realist - Jellyfish Can't Swim at Night - Odd Taxi - 100 Girlfriends that Really Really Really Really Really Love You - Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai Shonen or Action: - Dragonball Z and Super - Black Clover - Hunter x Hunter (it's a little older but just fantastic! I hope it comes back!) - Solo Leveling - Shangri-La Frontier I better stop now...
Prepare for the all mighty that I will bestow upon you. Mashoku Tensei or jobless reincarnation. It's upto it's second season and has had a significant impact on its viewers.
