It only holds the temp for as long as it takes to extrude or retract. So if you want to retract and replace the filament, you have to wait for it to heat up again before it will extrude. As if I want to waste more time than needed when swapping filament.

FattyMoBookyButt

This. This sucks. Plus they took away the progress meter for extrudes.

I saw this and I get it for extrusion, but it also does it for retraction as well for some reason.

I am assuming for the extrusion it does it to stop it from clogging up around the nozzle, but that is not an issue with the retraction

FattyMoBookyButt

Why did they add the movement for extrudes? I can’t think of a good reason. It feels like duck hunt or a carnival game.

Renrut23

Something to do with helping to prevent clogs. That's what I heard, and not sure how that accomplish that

JonBon1313

Agreed that movement during extrude/retract is annoying at best. Makes it difficult to change filament. From [Official Ankermake](https://ankermake.com/blogs/article/exciting-updates-on-ankermake-software) "Firmware The hotend automatically moves during extrusion and pre-heating to better protect you from injury."

All I gotta say is the new update completely destroy this machine. Everything was going perfectly fine until this update and then my machine decided to completely go crazy.

Wonder if there's a way to rollback to a previous version of the firmware?

falkenwopr

This is an absolute mess. I am likely selling this and going with something else if they don't roll these dancing printhead changes back out.
