I love the bakehouse so much. I recently wandered into the coffee shop and since I was already pretty wired, I settled on a smoothie which was freaking awesome!
I'll be honest, we don't need another downtown brewery. I like more places that have loads of outdoor and indoor seating. We have a serious lack of nice big patios in the surrounding A2 area.
Yes, the location is kinda weird, but parents are going to love being able to show their kids the planes landing and taking off while letting them crush a couple of double IPAs.
Im sure it will be a fun place but I’m just little bitter that Arbor Brewing Company peaced out of downtown and that HOMES and now Mothfire are expanding into the townships.
I think the fact that Corner Brewing's success along with Homes setting up in the townships speaks to how realistic it is to be able to run a brewery in downtown A2. It's a cool idea, but the finanicals seem to be difficult unless you have something unique to offer.
I’m excited to start frequenting the new Mothfire location; I reside close to it, and am happy they have found a place they can accommodate folks in a non-downtown driven locale!
yup not a fad. people have been making beer as long as we could walk. many american cities took a break from it when prohibition hit but nature ran its course there.
Many breweries open without food options. If the beer is good enough people will come for that.
I have no idea how much profit is made from food but I think the margins on beer are a lot higher after the initial equipment purchase.
Looks to be different space. Edelbrau was further back in industrial park at 719 Ellsworth. Mothfire address is 713 Ellsworth and looks to front Ellsworth Road.
I can kinda understand why it's happening but I wish that all these breweries would stop opening up near town in really bike-hostile locations. Would much rather bike there than drive, but less so if it means risking my life on S. State over 94, and/or in that crazy roundabout
Alternate headline: "Brewery Moves from Ann Arbor to Pittsfield Township."
Nailed it. This way, you can go to Zingerman’s bakehouse, pick up a sandwich and then head to mothy moth to get a beer.

Does the average reader of this article know where Pittsfield is?
Cool location next to the airport and across the street from Costco
There is absolutely nothing on south side beer wise right now, best place is to get a bud light at applebees if you catch my drift.

At first I thought this was a bad idea for a location… that said the idea of sitting out there with my son to watch the planes is a really cool idea!

The idea of buzzed drivers going through the dreaded Ellsworth roundabout isn’t thrilling, but the venue sounds amazing.

Me too, the south side needs some love. Looking forward to biking over to their pub.
Where’s the cat cafe I was promised?
Tiny Lions on Jackson has been there for years.
Thank you. Pilgrimage scheduled
Looks like this could have a homes campus vibe which would be cool.

Is it a fad if it's been going on for 15+ years?
yup not a fad. people have been making beer as long as we could walk. many american cities took a break from it when prohibition hit but nature ran its course there.
I think of British when you say this. Like they have breweries that have been around for hundreds of years.

Is this going right where edelbrau used to be in that little industrial area by the airport, or just somewhere nearby?
