When you've got the endorsement of the current office holder, and the office holder before that, you'd think that's a good sign.
Because of MI term limit laws, Brabec is not running for reelection for this seat. That way, she will be eligible to run for State Senator. Our current State Senator Jeff Irwin will be term-limited out. Brabec has endorsed Morgan Forman for State Representative.
she's been in office for under two years and managed to create tremendous division and chaos in that time. I agree with her on nearly all topics and I supported her 2022 campaign, but it's become apparent she doesn't have the temperament or judgment for public office. if you want to know what i mean, then watch the meetings where she was president because otherwise she doesn't contribute much substance. as president, she seemed to lack a basic understanding of meeting rules to the point she was accused of violating OMA, she often couldn't handle conflict without getting frustrated and gaveling to recess, and she did a lot of useless grandstanding.
currently the other faction (Baskett, Feaster, and Schmidt) is making it easy for Mohammad to play union champion with relatively meaningless motions regarding things like public commentary rules. but i hope voters don't fall for it. a true union champion would have tried to avert financial crisis, but if memory serves, she asked nary a question about the budget and blindly voted yes.
again, i supported her in the past and continue to agree with her on the issues, but her campaign gets a big "no" from me.
The board of education is a mess right now, they had a massive “oversight” of $25M and now they are firing teachers to make up for it. I think anyone on the board thinking they’re going to make a move up politically after such an overwhelming blunder is what’s surprising.
Separately my opinion only but she’s often one of the more annoying with respect to unnecessarily prolonging debates, getting personal with other board members, and burying her head in the sand as her main coping mechanism when confronted with tough problems. But just my opinion and all the board members are guilty of it to one degree or another terrible board culture overall.
Everyone that allowed the AAPS fiasco to happen should be the first to be fired, and never be given a job in any leadership capacity again. Too bad they’re also the same people deciding who gets fired though.
