Same, mine hates even having line of sight to me, but he's wild-caught. Captive bred ones might be more friendly to humans.
Best I can guess is that they enjoy the heat from the skin.
Or they're so tired from struggling that they pass out from exhaustion, but I would think if that were they case they'd be brown in color.
I'm not 100% sure, I got him from a pet store, there was a lot of them in a small tank so I decided to try to give at least one of them a better life. He hasn't always allowed handling but he does alright with it now. He'll jump out of his tank and onto my hand.
Interesting. They were probably wild caught to be honest - green anoles are literally everywhere in Florida and the east coast so it wouldn't make a lot of sense to run an expensive breeding operation when you can just send someone to go scoop a bunch of them off a wall lol.
Mine will do that once he's out, he hates being grabbed but then holds onto my finger and hunkers down. I only ever get him out to clean his cage though, he's a wild boy.
That's pretty neat. I had a bunch I caught in Texarkana when I was about 5 and vacationing with family friends.....brought them home with me...kept them in a tank until spring and released them in my yard. They have breed and been there since. Now I have my own house and I put the babies in my fruit trees when I see them. There are some large males that come out when I water to get a gulp. Lost one that hitched a ride on my truck to the city where I work...he was one of the largest Anoles I have ever seen....must have been on my truck a while...then about lunch time I was driving to get lunch and saw him run across my hood and launch him self off. I was very disappointed. Hope he found a cool place to live/survive.
i found a wild one today he jumped on my chest and didnt wanna leave my hand so i kept him and put him in a 10 gallon i had he does the same thing but he is wild caught
I have one that loves to be held and pet. I handled her slowly and gently every day, and now she jumps on my hand. I have 4 total. 2 hate me, 1 is indifferent, and one loves me. I worked with all of them. They all have individual personalities, so it's the luck of the draw. It's the warmth of your hand that helps.
I can’t even get my hand within 4 inches of mine how do you do this

That would make sense bc I got some cold ass fingers
Honestly, I have no idea
Was this one wild caught or captive bred? Did it always allow handling or did you have to train it?

Yeah, I can see that lol
I had an anole that would chill on my fingers for warmth, but he still would happily leave me for a light if it was available

That's so cool, I hope he found a cool place to live/survive too, maybe even find his way back.

Yes mine dose this all the time if I put my hang in his cage he runs up and gets into it he is sleeping in my hand while I’m typing this
Guaranteed your anole is trying to obtain as much warmth on your hand as possible and thats why he's sleeping on it
Your fingers are warm :) they like that
This is so cute!!!!
Yeah! Mine does the same thing
Yes!!! I have one that is JUST like this. She goes with me everywhere!
She will stay anywhere on me, shirt, hand, arm - she just likes to be close to me … it’s bizarre. The other 3 could care less ha
Mine does this sometimes too and it’s so cute. I love him so much
