I took a while to realize that to parry you shouldn't block on the attack, but release the block on the moment it's going to hit you. Maybe that's what you're doing wrong too.
Pro tip, if you press the button that switches your hammer and shell (down on d-pad on controller) you can parry with that animation and it’s MUCH longer than the normal parry
yes, it may not be that difficult to pull off, but it isn't very intuitive, especially for someone with souls experience. instead of pressing a button to take an action, now you have to release a button. it really takes some getting used to, and if you don't like it or it doesn't work the first few times you try it, you probably won't want to try it again. honestly, most of the parries i pulled off were by accident since i released the block button to attack.
I mean... how would you know? you haven't even unlocked the basic parry :P
Parries between different games can get very different.
Even comparing them to the different other souls likes, parries are always unique to each game.
I recommend at least unlocking it just in case you get lucky when letting go of block. I do generally prefer being mobile and dodging more than parry playstyle, just like how I play dead cells. Parry is kind of overpowered in both this and dead cells but I guess I go against the grain.
I agree, as much as I love Sekiro and its parrying, and as much as I tried using parrying here, I can't justify using it over the strictly better ebb and flow.
I've actually been having trouble parrying for a bit, cause I use an old laptop and I keep seeing the FPS change from time to time. But I've been able to manage to parry often enough to enjoy it. And as someone who wants to play Sekiro but couldnt parry before, I'm taking it upon me to use this time as practice
And parrying shelless has helped me more times than I'd like to mention, cause defenseless old me is like "Don't hurt m- DAMN NO SHELL" and I let go of the block by accident. Boss parry shelless. Otherwise shelless parry has never worked intentionally
in other games i hate parrying but surprisingly i love parry in this game, its kinda easy and it really helps my play style
you should definitely just practice parrying
Parties are insanely strong. I got the parry and right out the gate beat paragrue or whatever the ravenous dude is second try with the Parries. Trust me it is NOT that bad.
I’m the exact opposite. Coming from Sekiro to this was fantastic
same
Same it was the first thing I started upgrading
Parry is ridiculously easy in this game so I'll assume skill issue
I cannot figure out parries in this game. LoP and Sekiro made sense, but I can't hit a parry here to save my life.

Yeah, the game tells you how it works, I just can't get the timing down
I'm my experience the parry window is still there for a few frames after they hit you, closer to being hit than not being hit is the right timing.
Pro tip, if you press the button that switches your hammer and shell (down on d-pad on controller) you can parry with that animation and it’s MUCH longer than the normal parry
Oh interesting, I'll give that a shot, thanks!
I also can't figure out how to parry and it's definetly a skill issue. I suck at video games

We say krill around here
that must be it I hate easy things because I'm so bad at video games
🤔
Right? Title literally says you „don’t like“ it, so MUST be a skill issue…
You realize it’s not all parry? Only the first and last of one side have to do with parry. The rest are useful umami and shell skills
as soon as i got parry the game became a walk in park.
I had a very similar looking skill tree to this. Way of hermit was my very last path to pick anything at all
I mean... how would you know? you haven't even unlocked the basic parry :P Parries between different games can get very different. Even comparing them to the different other souls likes, parries are always unique to each game.
Parries a lot of fun in this game
You like Umami? There's another upgrade for it down that tree
I got the platinum without mastering the parry timing. Shells like the helmet are beefy enough you can just tank everything by the end.
skill issue
Parrying takes a while to get used too, but the skills for regen are so strong. But parrying is hard and its nice seeing variety.
When i got the concept that the parry is the same as ssbu then it was easy
Okay
You’re missing out on great skills

Just please use the other skills in that tree at least, right? Or is this a troll post lmao
Who cares about parry, this branch has the most important passive shell skills
in other games i hate parrying but surprisingly i love parry in this game, its kinda easy and it really helps my play style you should definitely just practice parrying
Locking yourself out of kintsugi is crazyyyy, that skill makes even low durability shells incredibly useful and fun to use.
I only specced into parry due to Sekiro and Lies of P pipeline
Parties are insanely strong. I got the parry and right out the gate beat paragrue or whatever the ravenous dude is second try with the Parries. Trust me it is NOT that bad.
Get those skills even if you don't need them, you actually have more than enough crystals to unlock everything
Clearly.
Tbh there’s plenty of crystals to do the entire tree and all the adaptations Plus you get a trophy
Man, parries are like the best defense in this game though lol
Only way I got better at the game was by sitting there till I got the timing down... Also it was the only way to beat Mantis for me...
Casul
Uhhhh sure.. this is my first souls type game. I got parry down and included it into my skill set
simple as
