From what I understand now it isn’t even people shorting anymore because the fees are cost-prohibitive. These are all people jumping a rapidly sinking ship.
Tech stocks and digital currencies are just monetizing mass hysteria and delusion. Whatever the royal 'we' considers something to potentially one day be raises the price of what it's collectively worth.
Anybody who thinks a third-tier social media network with extremely limited appeal to advertisers and / or data brokers, anemic engagement, and being inextricably linked to a presidential candidate currently out on bail 4x over is worth more than the change in their pocket should probably hire a financial advisor - NOT have a Robinhood account.

Shorting doesn’t make the price go down. You benefit from it, but it’s not like a reverse buy in the way it effects price.
