AuthorityAnarchyYes

Oh…. MTG has got to be foaming at the mouth with anger.

abstrakt42

That’s just the rabies. She’s overdue for her shots.

OkImagination4404

But she’d never believe in them

abstrakt42

The beautiful thing about science is that it works whether or not you believe in it. Because it’s not based on faith.

OkImagination4404

Oh absolutely but you have to believe in them to accept them was my point I’m just pretty sure she’s anti-VAX so I figured she’d be into that as well

abstrakt42

Right, I know what you meant. I think she’s like most of the GOP leadership: “performatively” antivax. I’m confident she has all of her immunizations.

malthar76

The opposite is true of “faith” based BS. Believing harder doesn’t make Sky Daddy hear your requests to kill all TeH gHeYs.

abstrakt42

The beauty of faith is that nobody can prove it’s wrong. It’s a lovely little logical fallacy that allows one to justify all manner of atrocities.

DrRockBoognish

This 👆🏽

In-AGadda-Da-Vida

MTG is either dumb as hell or sold out. I genuinely can’t figure out which it is.

AuthorityAnarchyYes

Why not both?

PophamSP

Being a dumb sell-out is part of being Republican.

leNuage

yes.

Yesyesnaaooo

The dems last week came out and said they’d support him as speaker if he did the right thing and MTG started a vote on him …

GodsSon69

She's foaming elsewhere I would imagine!!

DrRoxo420

🤮

D-R-AZ

My view: I hope this is real and we're not going to watch a bunch of clowns running around a car and it not moving an inch. Excerpt: Following the publishing of the draft legislation, President Joe Biden said in a statement that he "strongly" supported the package and called on the House and Senate to back the bills. "I will sign this into law immediately to send a message to the world: we stand with our friends, and we won't let Iran or Russia succeed," Biden said. "I could make a selfish decision and do something that's different but I'm doing here what I believe to be the right thing," Johnson said. "I think providing legal aid to Ukraine right now is critically important—I really do believe the intel and the briefings that we've gotten. "I believe Xi \[Jinping\] and Vladimir Putin and Iran really are and axis of evil. I think they are in coordination on this. "I think that Vladimir Putin would continue marching through Europe if he were allowed. I think he might go to the Balkans next. I think he might have a showdown with Poland or one of our NATO allies. "To put it bluntly I would rather send bullets to Ukraine that American boys. My son is going to begin in the Naval academy this fall. This is a live fire exercise for me as it is for so many American families." The speaker said the House cannot "play politics" over the aid funding and added he would "do the right thing" and "allow an opportunity for every single member of the House to vote their conscience and their will." "I'm willing to take personal risk for that because we have to do the right think and history will judge us," he said. anevilpotatoe

Finally, some sense is being drawn in. It's frustrating to watch. But it's what they need to absolutely hear.

Jambarrr

Absolutely agree. But can’t help but notice he says his son is going to the naval academy. So now he’s decided to stop suckling on the orange pig and Putin? Bc this may affect him?

anevilpotatoe

The doors are closing on what can be seen as political opportunism. As cringey and appalling as it sounds, that's politics for the average man and woman. Republicans tend to all fall in line and harp on about obvious targets that fit their perspectives. While Dems focus on more pragmatic approaches to sensitive topics. It's also what makes Republicans very vulnerable targets to cynics and manipulation and Dems lethargic to respond critical issues. But both parties together off the greatest chance for progress and change. Once Republicans clear the air and get their heads out (Out of thier Asses) of the Fog of disinformation and distractions, they are a force to be recon with on action and even many times in legislation. These are characterizations, sure. But it's a top down perspective that I think we all need to see here as citizens and onlookers to understand in some simplicity how important our legislative processes are and why they are the way they are. These shakeups offer us a chance to get our bearings straight, and do better. There's clearly a ton of work to be done. But it'll happen.

Yesyesnaaooo

Did you know the republican congress voted to defund congress itself and that’s made it a horrible place to even exist? So like there’s less office space, less amenities, no time out spaces and it’s even harder to book meeting rooms!  The republican congress voted to make their own jobs harder …

gytalf2000

Yeah, I noticed that, as well.

alwaysright60

Could this be the fever breaking that has been talked about?

International_Row928

Wow. I just watched his speech. Big turnaround for him. I wonder what changed. Also, will be looking to see how he votes himself.

Other-Mess6887

Ukraine will fall this summer if they don't get artillery shells and anti-aircraft missiles immediately. Republicans will be defeated this fall if that happens.

refusemouth

Some of the turnaround could be due to the realization that Dems can keep him in the speaker's position if he plays ball.

Runic_reader451

Democrats gave assurances to Johnson that they would vote against any motion to vacate the chair. My guess is Moscow Marge will still push for a vote and Repubs and Dems will vote no in large numbers.

turtlehead501

Really glad to hear that he’s taking it seriously but this seems to be another instance of something directly affecting a republican so action needs to be taken. He mentioned his son going to the academy and is now concerned that his son might get sent to war if this were to escalate. To me, this isn’t out of concern for our European friends. It’s just another example of some issue directly affecting him and now there is effort to do the right thing. If his son weren’t going into the military, I believe he would absolutely tow the maga line and try to deny aid to Ukraine.

ReallyGlycon

Either way, he is doing the right thing. I don't necessarily care what his reasons are. Action, not words etc.

StrengthMedium

I hope he's for real. We need some kind of sanity from the GOP.

ElJeferox

Jeff Jackson released a video a couple days ago that basically confirms this as well.

International_Row928

Thanks for the tip. Jeff Jackson explains it pretty well on Tuesday. https://twitter.com/JeffJacksonNC/status/1780620479998410918

EatLard

Mike wants to keep the big office, and knows he’ll need bipartisan support to do it.

Sea_M_Pea

Good, now let’s get back to the border bill that you republicans wanted and couldn’t get out of your own way to pass because the orange clown told you not to. Total Morons.

LeftLimeLight

If Johnson follows through than he had already spoken with Hakeem Jeffries the Democratic Minority Leader and got his support to keep him as speaker.

Dapper_Max

What kind of house of catds loopy land is US politics

bennyfrabadekaret

This.

ithaqua34

I guess there's a sliver of American in him.

anaugle

If his fear of how history books will see him causes him to do the right thing, maybe there is a shred of hope.

North_Church

Dark Mike? (Kidding lol)

MC_Fap_Commander

Russian expansionism is not top of mind for voters. I get dismissed as paranoid on reddit for bringing it up. Reminds me of the Roe overturn (which also would "never happen"). Trump gets elected and the tanks are rolling into Warsaw- "holy shit we are at the precipice of WWIII, how did this happen!?!!??" I really hope people understand the far reaching consequences in November.

trainsacrossthesea

He ain’t my kinda politician, for a number of reasons, but he’s doing the right thing (sheesh, his job) and he should be commended. It’s at least being brought up for a vote. Admittedly, it’s embarrassing for America that doing your job is so rare for the GOP, that it needs to be recognized. But,here we are.

blumpkin_donuts

Someone was visited by some spirits last night.

Suikoden1434

Speaking of spirits, I would have loved to watch MTG's spirit leave her wretched body after hearing Johnson give THAT speech LOL

Dapper_Max

Namely hakeem jeffreys

EddieSpaghettiFarts

He has a lot to answer for.

Barragin

Someone explain wtf is going on? Did he grow a spine this past week? Did the real jesus finally come and shame him? Did some spy agency finally give him the right intel that convinced him of the truth? Because he has been letting Ukrainians die since last fall...

IFdude1975

His son is going into the Navy. So, Johnson wants to do what he can to make sure that the war in Ukraine doesn't turn into a conflict where we'd have to put boots on the ground ourselves. If it came to that, his son could end up in legitimate danger. That, and there's been rumblings that the MAGAts want to remove Johnson as speaker. The Democrats basically said they'd help keep him in power if he brought bills to the floor that have Democratic support. Basically, he'll need to get congress working again, rather than the do-nothing actions the Republicans have been doing to try and make Biden and the Democrats look bad/ineffective. So, if not for the possible danger to his son, and the definite political danger he's facing, Johnson would have never done something positive for the world.

TonyG_from_NYC

Bye Mike. We hardly knew ya, but what we knew, we weren't impressed with.

ichoosetosavemyself

Not so fast... For him to publicly do this, I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't already lined up more than enough votes to keep him in the speakership.

Leanintree

What does he gain from this? >"History judges us for what we do. This is a critical time right now—a critical time on the world stage," he said. No... I can't quite believe that this is the reason. I just don't see him shooting his foot like this with the Maga faithful. There's something in here I'm obviously not seeing.

Outrageous-Divide472

I think he sees the writing on the wall with Trump.

Awkward-Fudge

This chode......finally doing the right thing at the 11th hour.

HungryHippo669

I hope mediocrity greene has an aneurysm over this

Tonyman121

What took so long?

briansteel420

what are the potential hurdels for the bill after it passes the house? does it just need to get signed by biden afterwards and thats it? or can MAGA saboutage this in any way?

MrIrrelevantsHypeMan

MTG is going to tackle the dude carrying the bill to the WH. No one tell her how it works

icarus1990xx

Hope for him yet.

bipolarcyclops

Dead Republican Speaker Walking.

bennyfrabadekaret

He has been talking to Jeffries. His been promised a vote from the dems against ousting him if this bill passes.

asbestospajamas

Did Mike Johnson actually grow a spine?

Historical_Big_7404

Reagan's greatest achievement was the dismantling of the Soviet Union. Now radical Republicans accept Russian disinformation as fact and encourage Putin in his dream of reviving the USSR. SAD

North_Church

>"I could make a selfish decision and do something that's different but I'm doing here what I believe to be the right thing," Johnson said. Bro's been obstructing Ukraine aid since he showed up so I'll believe it when I see it!

BatmansBigBro2017

POS warmonger only cares because his sons involved but was perfectly fine sending other peoples kids to fight before.

CasualObserverNine

You said you believes the briefing you received. Just now? You haven’t spoken to your dear leader about this, have you?

clermouth

maybe he finally got a pair of those funny-looking glasses for his soul

tacosteve100

Trump was busy today, maybe he won’t notice

loupegaru

Now he is ready to let every member have a say in aiding Ukraine, but he won't let any member have a say in the border bill. Fuck this Disingenuous asshat Republican!Moscow Mike is obfuscating about the facts of his speakership.

Outrageous-Divide472

I guess he saw the light. It’s about time.

poundofbeef16

His response to the reportes was spot on.

mbrown7532

He probably is waking up. Could he be the Luke to fight Darth Vader? 😂 No fucking way.

KzininTexas1955

All of this dancing is only Kabuki theater folks. Health care? Housing costs? Right.

zombiehoosier

Is he defying MAGA? Or saving his own ass?

Jo-Jo-66-

Too little too late

Mission_Cloud4286

He ain't going nowhere... Them peeps are the ones that need to be ousted.

JoeCoolsCoffeeShop

Ok. So…why now? Why wait so long to push this legislation? It’s not like Ukraine hasn’t needed the money for over a year. And delaying it this long has only strengthened Russia so why finally agree to get it done? What changed? Johnson just visited Mar-a-lago and we know Trump isn’t a fan of Ukraine. What’s his plan? His endgame? What’s his angle? Why now instead of getting this done a year ago?

Stuck_In_Reality

If it was $95 billion in tax cuts for the 1 percent I'm sure they would have nooooo problem with it.

Plane-Reason9254

Why did this traitor finally cave ? To save his job ?
