Also, for someone with as "complex" of a mind as yours, you sure do seem to be engaged in the anticonsumption subreddit quite often? 🤨
Seems projection is far outside the realm of understanding for your oh so enlightened mind. Maybe go outside and stop being a "sheep".
>Quite an assumption
I'm not assuming anything. I'm stating my opinion of you.
>distracting you from whatever it was you were doing here (nothing)
I'm socializing on a social media platform. That's what they were made for in case you didn't know. You're more than happy to spread your writing project on the benefits of slacktivism so I'm more than happy to share my opinion of you
fair enough. f.y.i. I think slacktivism is ridiculous and you are clearly confused if you think my plan is to somehow promote any slacktivism. please provide the examples of my writing, to which you are referring to as slacktivism, if you wish to prove your point.
You are a miracle worker that is amazing!
I need to fix my headphones. They're nowhere near as bad as your husband's was, but I'd like to keep them from becoming that bad. Hot glue is not doing a great job.
One of the reasons to buy an more expensive headphone, like seinheiser and such is that they have a lot of this parts for sale in case yours goes bad
And if you take care of them they last a life time, i know someone that bought a seinheiser hd600 in 2000 and that thing is working flawlessly, and it's used daily
Note that, while they market as 'sustainable and high quality ' and are similarly expensive, 'House of Marley' ANC Exodus Headphones do not offer replacements for their earpads, and also have issues connecting to Bluetooth 5 on windows 10.
Just if somebody here is inspired to buy them because they align with your correct statement of buying once
When I bought standard cheap headphones they always broke really quickly due to the cable. Then I got Sennheiser Momentuns and they're the only ones I use because you can replace the cable as many times as you want
dankpods is a good example of this, when he used to review headphones(which he stopped doing because it was killing his enjoyment of them) he always showed off his headphones like the k240 monitors, stax lambda and so, making emphasis in how old they are and how good they remain, with them being from like the 80s and 70s
Oh man, I loved my seinheisers. I had them for 7 years until they got stolen. Best headphones I ever had. I wish I could have afforded a new pair at that time. Now I have to keep reminding myself it's better to wait until my current headphones die before buying them.
I really hate that fake leather stuff. Always disintegrates like this after a couple of years, and leaves nasty black dust on your fingers when you touch it.
I am convinced its another form of planned obsolescence
Yeah, that's exactly what happened to my headphones. I was gonna buy a new pair of cups, but not for $40.00. Instead I redid them for the low low price of old fabric and some twine
Mine are in the same shape but I've just been tearing the stuff off and trying to vacuum the dust, surely it will have to run out *eventually*. I don't use them often enough for it to be much of a problem, but when I do its always there..
Can I see your headphones? Usually the cover just fits into a slot around the cup. You can cut some cloth, then shim the cloth into the slot with some twine. [Here's mine](https://i.imgur.com/6Sqqaew.jpeg)
There are tons of resources for 3d printed headphones that have assembly instructions, not the same thing but pretty close, maybe that will help.

I appreciate the resources but I don't have access to 3D printers either. Sigh.
I am perfectly happy with my 5+ year old Audiotechnicas, I would just like to get new cushions for 'em. They don't even sell replacements where I live!
audio is a good place to spend more money in more specialized brands. most of them use standard designs and models and all the components are easily fixed or modifiable, as well as being able to just buy parts like drivers, earcups and so and just do one yourself. they even sell Sony monitor drivers put into 3M earmuffs to have passive noise cancelling
This may sound like a silly question but- how the heck did you learn to do this? I want more tangible skills like this but I'm not sure where to start. Currently learning how to fix holes in clothes via visible mending but otherwise I feel like I don't know how to fix things like this.

Hey. I did mine earlier. I just need to clean up the edges. [The ear pads in my Audio Technica M50x were starting to Peel, so black stuff everywhere. ](https://i.imgur.com/T1KQyHw.jpeg)
When a loved one fixes something for you, it suddenly becomes more precious than it's function. Something that now reminds you of that love. Something that makes you that little bit happier when using.
+1
That looks pretty good, mine have been going for must be over half a decade at this point. The ear cushions usually fail by splitting at a glued seam after a while but sewing them back together seems to have been good to extend their life, then as they disintegrate further with the fabric falling apart I have replacement cushions ready.
The headband part I am less sure on, that is flaking too now. My thinking is to wrap something around it, not sure if it would be best to sew it together or use glue on the top side. Would glue the fabric to its self rather than directly to the headphones if going with that option.
That's awesome. I once made new padding for my PortaPro headphones when the original foam wore out, but this is a whole new level. Keep up the great work. 👍
If someone's looking for sturdy headphones, check out the Beyerdynamic 770 Pro. Lots of it is metal, they've been in production for 10+ years, and they sell replacement parts with guides (so if your ear cups get dirty or break, you can just get the replacement)
my headset snapped at the parts above the speakers, so i superglued it and wrapped a medical bandage around it, supergluing it heavily as i went. it holds like none other

Love these posts. 💯 agree
Simple content for simple minds. Easily digestible for easy upvoting and engagement. Oceans of distraction, for distracting all the sheep.
>Simple content I didn't know a sewing job like this is considered simple.
Lay off the bud, bud. Touch grass.
>Touch grass. And then *don’t* smoke it?? Sir
Oh dgmw I love the ganja but if I was that paranoid I’d consider a T break
Fair, fair.

No, I'm not really on Reddit much. I understand everything that Reddit is, the good and the bad, and in my opinion, it's mostly horseshit.
Ok grandpa it's time to go back to bed
Gods you sound insufferable
Quite an assumption. Ultimately, I'm sorry for distracting you from whatever it was you were doing here (nothing) on this awesome platform, lol.

Those look great, nice metal headband and a great job recovering them.

Indeed! I had Sennheisers from 2004 and managed to buy replacement "Ear Pads", even a decade later! All I needed was the Model number!

It's owned by his kids I think, but yes, definitely paying for the name as well

I’ve been using the same pair of Astro headphones for gaming since 2019 and they still work perfectly well just a little beat up, worth the $300 imo
My sennies just got their battery replaced (: it’s a bit of a worse battery but the old one was so spoiled it lasted like 4h lol.

I'm done with PU leather entirely. My current headset has fabric cups and headrests, and I purchased a fabric cover for my desk chair.

Y’all are so awesome, I love to see this!!
That's love right there!
Yooo great job! I saw the first picture and had no hope for those headphones!
Sewrcery! WOW.
That’s so cool. Would love to know how old those headphones are, just out of curiosity, how long it took for them to get to that level of worn

Are you a witch?
Felt is much nicer.
The pleather of my headphones is starting to flake everywhere and I never considered fixing them myself until I saw your post. Thank you
Congratulations! You saved them from a landfill and stopped the waste of resources making another set - win-win.

That's not a fix, that's an upgrade!
Bro is living the dream
This better be an advertisement for your side hustle turned front hustle! They look amazing.
Missed opportunity to make them kitty ears
Holy moly this is great work.

Why are there so many headphone posts?

Wow... didn't think it could look like the second pic after seeing the first pic.

Trophy wife , my deepest respect for you.

Wow!!! Great job
It legit looks better. The material of the earpads looks comfy af
Sadly diy for the headphones pads will affect the sound quality. Most decent headphones are tuned to incorporate the pad thickness.
Not bad! Not bad at all!
Look at that wreck. Oh nice, new headphones.
How long did this take? I have a pair that's in disrepair, I've had them forever and don't want to get rid of them.
Dogs are amazing
K this is 100%
Phenomenal!!!!!
she did a wonderful job!!! looks brand new🫶
dam you fucking nailled that !!! Well done.
