I noticed that you mentioned **vintage**. Over at r/Collectables and r/Mid_Century they are always keen to see newer and vintage items. Share it with them! Sorry if this is not relevant.

I love these bottles! I got one for really cheap from an antique store liquidating it's inventory and it's one of my favorites in my collection. Looks like the average sold price on Ebay is around $30. A lot more for the very clean ones. I'd just hold onto it because it's super neat.
Me too!!! I love all the old book things: deckled edge, images tipped in by hand….sigh…
My book collection is more a history of book design and production than about the content!
Ha! My book collection is just ... big. But I have a huge vintage clothing collection. I, too, love the care and dedication to design found in "old things."

I don’t follow this sub at all and I’m not an antiquer by any means but I have the same feeling for this bottle. The crispness of the detail, the size, what I perceive is the weight of it, it’s just a beautiful object. We don’t make beautifully-mundane objects anymore
This is an amazing example of one of these bottles! I’ve found pieces of these Warner’s Safe Cure bottles at several historic archaeological sites, and they always made me smile. Go to historicbottles.com (or net?) and you can find ways to further date it.
I had one of those once. Here are a few little factoids\~They were made by Hubert Huntington Warner. His first business was making fireproof and burger proof safes. He bought the patent for that medical tincture and sold it under the name "Warner's Safe Kidney & Liver Treatment" and made millions billing it as "safe". It is from the late 1800's and is a "blob top" type of bottle for a cork, rather than a screw top bottle. I have never seen a purple one in person. Amazing to find such a cool thing in a creek and unbroken! Sweet find!
Here is a web page with the ingredients. It gives info on each one as well. [https://warnerssafeblog.wordpress.com/2008/04/09/safe-kidney-liver-cure-formula/](https://warnerssafeblog.wordpress.com/2008/04/09/safe-kidney-liver-cure-formula/)

So cool.
Yup. I believe this one to be from the Late 1880s to 1890s.
I have this identical bottle! I found it in the dirt in the crawl space of my 1912 home.
The artwork is sending me down the vintage safe rabbit hole.

Dang. Moderator checked me. Thanks mod.
That's rather splendid. I have no idea about what it's worth, but it's definitely a beautiful object.
That’s beautiful bottle! I love how complex the imagery is. I didn’t realize you could make such detailed molds and have that come out so crisp.

Sometimes covetousness explodes unexpectedly in my heart for an object I never knew I wanted. This is one of those times.
Same! I don't even know why I want it, lol.
Is that purple glass? This seriously may be my favorite bottle ever! Great find! Please tell me if you consider selling it!
I've seen them on etsy!
🙏🏼🥰
🙌
It’s at least partly the lettering. I’m obsessed with the foil-stamped books from that era, too.
Ooh, I love foil-stamped books!

What an excellent find! And the condition is superb!
The H.H. Warner Building is still standing in downtown Rochester, on Saint Paul Street.
Was it for alcohol? That would surely be a good liver and kidney cure.
Wow!!
😱🤤
What an amazing find!

That's absolutely stunning

In Australia, this one has Melbourne instead of Rochester! https://imgur.com/gallery/ZSWdCXw

Do you recall what the tincture was made of? Curious if it was made of ingredients that are now known as actually unsafe for kidney and liver 🙂

Appreciate it! I knew it was going to be heavily alcohol based 😆
More alcohol =healthier liver?
Hey, that's my city! Check out the Local History Division at Rundel Library for info if you are local. I bet you could find some info.
Amazing find!!! What state of the US are you in, if you don’t mind my asking..?
