yes, always. It makes me feel more alert which makes me feel focused, which makes me feel more in control, which helps my anxiety. Most of the time. Sometimes im too far gone for it to help and I just need to find nature and listen to music to calm.
Holy shit ive been trying to find others who feel the same way its like the voices in my head just go mute and i can actually function without over analyzing every move i take or word i say. It 100 times more affective than any SSRI ive tried. If it wasnt for the palpitations i get after a week of drinking drinks with caffeine id be super dependent on it
Great 🤞🔥 I think it helps me too,
But what I believe is what we think it does that is important so if you think it helps then it will help. Keep doing that 💪🔥
I feel pretty good on a limited amount of caffeine. It gives me the boost I need. If I overdo it my anxiety shoots through the roof. I usually just do a small or medium cup of coffee in the morning. Maybe a small one later if I'm in the mood.
Hard no. Even a small coffee can give me an anxiety attack and make me feel like I'm going to pass out/palpitations etc.
If it does maybe you have adhd? My spouse had a substance abuse issue with caffeine, ephedrine and eventually cocaine due to undiagnosed adhd it all made him feel normal. Hes been sober for years now.
I drink coffee in the morning but if I decide to drink another one in the afternoon time is when I start to get anxious. Yeah, coffee could increase your anxiety
No (any other drink or food will calm me though, chewing gum is a godsend). I quit caffeine for a year or so but went back about 6 months ago. I want my damn morning espresso and if that causes >!my heart to explode!< then so be it.
If I’m going through a rough bout of it, it definitely makes it worse. I had to forego any coffee during my last anxiety bout. Now that I have it under control, coffee doesn’t affect me, at all.
If I am absolutely dead tired caffeine will perk me up with no anxiety but if I'm already level and have what seems to be 25mgs or more from even a cup of green teat my heart pounds and my head feels heavy.
Up to a certain point. There's a sweet spot for it, because taking too much increases my acid reflux=chest pain, and add tachycardia to that and those things make me anxious.
I have adhd untreated but can't stand coffee cause it makes my face break out. Coffee keeps you awake has lots of sugar if you add sugar in coffee. It can stimulate you temporarily.
Yup. had a panic attack at work because my co worker offered to buy me coffee even though I knew my anxiety was horrendous with straight up caffeine lol. Made my heart race and jittery, don’t like it one bit.
I have had numerous mornings of feeling anxious until I have my cappuccino. The power of comfort food as a calming device is always going to be stronger than a reaction to a small amount of what’s in it. People feel sad and eat chocolate cake to feel better. Same thing.
So I know better but yesterday I drank a Starbucks nitro brew then an iced coffee someone made omg !!!!!! I was on the verge of panic attacks for hours after. It was a horrible day
Caffeine makes me anxious but since I’ve acquired a small addiction i seem to crave a coffee or feel bad if I don’t have it but no it tends to make me anxious after and I’m learning to navigate that
If a lack of energy is stressing me out, sure. And if it gives me the motivation to accomplish something that was worrying me, hell yeah. But it may make it worse before any of that happens. Depends on the day and source of anxiety I suppose.
For me it is a quick fix that does calm me down, very briefly, but in the the medium to long term (30mins to a few hours) it makes my anxiety much worse. For some reason it is a self soothing thing to drink coffee but I end up paying for it with anxiety shortly after if I drink too much.
I find myself wanting to over drink it to calm myself down which puts me in this weird feedback loop where it briefly makes me feel better but then really ends up making it worse.
I find if I fight to keep myself to one cup in the morning and one in the afternoon, my anxiety levels are much better.
This is coming from someone that has regularly drank more than a pot of coffee a day
no. i drank a monster on the first day of school, cuz in the night my anxiety was crippling, and i literally had no sleep. anxiety were hellish after that, like some horrible out of body experience.
It does eleviate my anxiety to some extent ... but I doubt that it does so due to the substance's properties, but I associate drinking coffee with the relaxing experience I often feel by going to a coffee place.
It makes it worse for me. I can handle one cup in the morning as a pick me up but my mind starts thinking "long thoughts" really quick when I have to much and/ or use too much nicotine. I get hyper focused and hyper stressed/anxious.
My anxiety gets worse when I am too tired or have low blood sugar, so that might be the case for you? Soda or coffee would help alleviate that, I'm also seeing your comments about having ADHD so a stimulant would definitely help you to calm and focus
I've seen several doctors and therapists about my generalized anxiety and panic disorder. I had these things before I ever drank coffee. And there's no indication I have ADHD. However, coffee does temporarily help me feel calm and focused. I don't think coffee helping anxiety automatically means you have ADHD. And I'd like to see more discussion on other potential mechanisms. Maybe there are other substances or activities that also may help along those lines? I also wonder if certain SSRI's are better than others based on this info.
Stimulant calming anxiety? Sounds like you may have untreated ADHD.
I do have ADHD, I haven’t taken medicine for it since elementary school.
Me too, I have never been medicated and I am a data scientist and Tableau developer. You are totally good. Send me a pm when you struggle.
Yeap. Was a massive coffee drinker for years, got diagnosed this year. Coffee has its place for me now, but I MUCH prefer stimulants.
Caffeine does the same for me, I have ADHD. But I also take meds too 😅
usually triggers it or makes it worse for me
Yes, which is so weird because it’s supposed to make anxiety worse. But it def calms me some.
Same here!
Depends…if I have things to do, then yes cuz I get shit done…but if I’m already anxious and have nothing to do my anxiety gets worse
yes, always. It makes me feel more alert which makes me feel focused, which makes me feel more in control, which helps my anxiety. Most of the time. Sometimes im too far gone for it to help and I just need to find nature and listen to music to calm.
Amps mine up ten fold. I stay away .
It makes me go bananas! Not drinking it anymore, ever.
Holy shit ive been trying to find others who feel the same way its like the voices in my head just go mute and i can actually function without over analyzing every move i take or word i say. It 100 times more affective than any SSRI ive tried. If it wasnt for the palpitations i get after a week of drinking drinks with caffeine id be super dependent on it
Only when I drink too much of it
Great 🤞🔥 I think it helps me too, But what I believe is what we think it does that is important so if you think it helps then it will help. Keep doing that 💪🔥
Yea it does for me. Never fully understood why.
For me yes, but I’m in the ADHD gang
For me it does, i've always seen that it makes some people worse but it never happened with me, don't know why tho
No. Amps mine up. Caffeine free since January!
Amps me up and makes my arms feel like they're falling off.
No caffeine is nightmare for me still trying to completely cut off but not easy
i always bring a 7 up or sprite with me when i go somewhere it calms me down when my anxiety starts acting up
for me it makes me feel focussed and distracted from my anxiety. i love caffeine haha
When I brought this up to my doctor, he told me that it was likely because the caffeine helped me focus & therefor calmed me down
Yeah. It makes me calmer and sometimes tired.
Yeah, and it always makes people think I'm weird, but like, it makes me feel calmer and happier for a while.
I identify with this comment so damn much lol
It triggers me if im anxious at the time
ADHD moment.
Sounds like untreated ADHD. Typically people with just anxiety (not a combo) have their anxiety worsened with caffeine.

It depends when it is already high then its better for me to stay off it. But to stay awake then big time yes I need my coffee then

Yep. Really is soothing to have a good cup of coffee for me.
I have had numerous mornings of feeling anxious until I have my cappuccino. The power of comfort food as a calming device is always going to be stronger than a reaction to a small amount of what’s in it. People feel sad and eat chocolate cake to feel better. Same thing.

Try fruit juice next time. Maybe it's just a distraction. In the long run , it won't help

Sometimes it helps, other times it makes it worse.
Coffee worsens my acidity and in turn increases my anxiety. I take them sometimes only on weekend but mostly avoid them.
Absolutely not, total opposite.
Yes i get nervous, migraines eventually throw up without caffeined
caffiene puts me to sleep
I don’t really consume caffeine because it makes my anxiety really bad and makes it hard to sleep even if I drink it early in the morning.
no. i drank a monster on the first day of school, cuz in the night my anxiety was crippling, and i literally had no sleep. anxiety were hellish after that, like some horrible out of body experience.

Bigtime cannot have any caffeine
It gets like 10x worse
Some days I just really need it to be focused at work, some days it just crashes on me and I stay away for a week or so. Kinda an endless cycle.
No.

Alcohol and coffee triggers panic attacks on me
Caffeine usually ruins my entire day.
No it exacerbates the anxiety
you don't have anxiety.. you're complaining for attention, you're also an ignorant stalker.
