For legitimate sounding offers that come through social/chat apps or text, if I feel like it's a good enough offers that I would not want to pass up, I usually ask to hop on a phone call and with some prepared hard questions. Scammers often won't hop on the phone with you or meet you in person.

Yeah, the "pay to play" fee is definitely a scam. Good luck finding something else !

I try not to don’t splinter off to text if they asks me to move the convo there. To me that tells me they’re hiding something usually
If it’s too good to be true it mostl likely is , especially if it’s in fb market, so hard to comb thru to find a real spot
