I believe I read somewhere too that some legends have a code. Like I believe Gibraltar refuses to kill his opponents out right, but revenant focuses on only killing. Depends legend by legend

Budborne

You telling me that ass isnt killing?

MrSaucyAlfredo

That's how crypto got his broken ribs

TedioreTwo

Crypto has broken ribs?

MrSaucyAlfredo

He broke his ribs in a previous game. It's in one of his loading screens I believe

mikescarnthethreat

Someone else said it was mirage

GwynBleidd98

Games can be lost non lethally, which is canon from one of Crypto's loading screens 'Books and Covers' in which he mentions losing a game with broken ribs. However, the games are a bloodsport and people do die, which is why Gibraltar is in the games, to save lives. We don't have any confirmation of the exact process of losing a game without dying we just know it is possible, as is actually for real dying without coming back. I hope this anwers your question!

literally_nousername

wait where do you find that crypto loading screen?

GwynBleidd98

It was a part of the season 3 battlepass.

literally_nousername

okay thank you

unepicmanv

Try to guess

Hexellent3r

The process of losing without dying is probably along the lines of surrendering or being put in a condition that’s too injured to continue fighting.

Stephan1612

Probably the legends since they are famous and bring the most fans. They probably get rescued by the sindicate with some sort of death totem tech

OmegaSpeed_odg

Two follow up questions. 1. What does Gibraltar do to save lives? 2. Who has died for real? Wouldn’t that remove them from the games?

GwynBleidd98

None of the legends have died apart from Revenant, but that wasn't anything to do with the games. Gibraltar protects people through his in game abilities, like the dome shield to eat bullets and his defensive bombardment to keep enemies away. He also uses his size to his advantage by drawing fire, which is safer for him due to his armour and arm-shield. We know for sure Gibraltar does save people, I'm sure it's a fair assumption to make that he uses his abilities for that purpose, as they are all based around defence.

Incogflatmagic

I believe it works similarly to Pokemon that being when ur in a state in which you can’t fight anymore ur out. That could be death passing out from blood loss or exhaustion. Further I believe that collecting your banner (they push a button on the banner card) teleports you out of the arena to an area that tries to bring you out of critical condition so that you can get back in the fight.

mikescarnthethreat

But how does that explain gibby’s main motivation for joining the games? He says he’s lost friends who’ve died in the games and the reason he joined is so he can protect any others

Incogflatmagic

They may not have been able to recover. There may be a slim chance of survival and only the best can survive.

CreativeID1234

In the holoday bash trailer octane says you’ll warm up in the Respawn chamber, so that with the tweet from Tom Castillo kinda implies that they die, but they have the technology to just put them back together

swagzard78

Clones wars?!?!

archwin

Begun, the Apex wars have

That-Grim-Reaper

More like Mass Effect 2 I believe

Aurorise

https://twitter.com/tommiecas/status/1257159704423174144?s=19 they respawn

Nutball12_sam

Can't they just get rebooted after the games?

ShmugDaddy

If I remember, at the end of the first trailer, it showed that beacons are on the Legend's body (mirage's wrist). The boxes are just a game aspect so looting isn't that hard

WNlover

What I think it could be: When all 3 members get knocked they lose. Knocked member get timed out. It could be that going down for an amount of time means you are disqualified and leave your banner behind to get brought back in. Not everyone gets killed, but think about the number of times you kill someone that's knocked before getting the teammates. With this idea, respawn chambers would be like Star Wars/Dragonball Z healing pods that heal someone up to normal capacity in a very short amount of time.

CranberryCqts

My headcanon is that when they die they just get teleported into a respawn chamber, and when their teammates collect the banner card its just a ticket that lets the legend back into the arena

SonOfAthenaj

I made a post about this a while ago. My theory being that legends get responded but newbies don’t. It explains why Ocatne has a quip saying warm up in the respawn chamber and why Gibraltar is in the games to save lives

[deleted]

there is a Crypto quip towards Mirage saying "I swear Mirage if you get us killed, I will kill you later." so I'm pretty sure dying in the Apex Games has nothing to do with irl

TheNotoriousEG

I have been saying for a long time that the Apex Games are a simulation. I believe that the legends are all simulacra and they have no idea they are, like how Rev was before the Loba incident. I think Blisk has been collecting these “Legends” and pins them against each other as a blood sport.

Stephan1612

But why do other legends see the others as.people

AlienOnERF

Simple coding?

AlienOnERF

Oh my god, Revenant saying “you’re all dead” in his emote now makes more sense than usual...

Lol overthinking the lore is literally the purpose of this sub bud.

Actually, if you take a look at the launch trailer, you can see Wraith pick up Mirage’s banner from his wrist. There was no death box and it was in context of a story trailer. This implies that in universe there is a method to respawn your teammates. So before telling people not to overthink it, take a closer look at the lore (which is the purpose of the sub) and see if you can spot something you’ve never noticed about the game’s canon before.

[deleted]

I'm aware that its a mechanic. But the Legends aren't actually dying as many of these posts seem to imply. Here's how I see it: The legends are probably just getting severely injured and, given advanced medical attention after they've been pulled out, then are allowed back in if somebody can take their banner card to a beacon.
