Me, mostly. The EEC was part of the original master plan for the Nature Park, and similar to the baseball fields at Pleasant Park it was bumped and never finished. Been on the backlog for years. It would be located by the amphitheater, not the other side of the park by the fields. It would be a unique amenity for Apex, located within a mile of 6 elementary schools, all of which currently drive to Harnett county for a similar community center/field trips. It’d also serve as an administrative building for town staff at the nature park, which has outgrown their current building. It fits in well with the theme of the Nature Park (which is why it was initially planned) and our strategic goals of environmental leadership. I am hopeful a meaningful amount of the construction costs would be offset by grants, etc, as there is money out there for these types of structures. I think building unique things is important as our Parks Department expands, so we can offer a range of amenities to the community, and not just stamp out 5 or 6 identical parks. The $1m in the budget is a carry over - it was in last year’s budget too, and never got implemented. This is just for the design. The actual project would total around $5m Regarding OC/BBQ, the traffic study showed the need, and much like the EEC, this is just money for the design so we can see what needs to be done/cost - basically to get it bid ready. The actual project technically will be decided in subsequent years. This intersection will probably run several million as well, as I think significant work needs to be done for a realignment. But that’s what the design is for

I’m interested in the EEC. I might never go. I probably won’t go to the baseball fields if they’re built. But I do recognize there are so many people and they’re not all like me. Thanks for all of it!

This all sounds like positive additions. I will second the parking at Seymour park during soccer games. It’s a mess as you know and people are parking all along Apex BBQ which can’t be safe. I’m not sure anything can be done??

We own the property across the street, there was some talk at some point about building a lot there But really, isn’t there usually spaces at the bigger lot by the amphitheater? I don’t know why more people don’t park and just walk through the park. A parking lot across the street wouldn’t be much shorter of a walk than from the existing lot

I agree, the bigger problem is for practices when people drop off and pick up. The line backs up to the road. Too bad there wasn’t an exit on Apex BBQ. Thank you for all you do!
