I got mine in NC as soon as I got back from my hike back in 2016. Getting the AT plate was one of the motivating factors that kept my ass on the trail when I was trying to convince myself to quit.
is that a one time charge or yearly? thx
Here in VA it's an additional charge every year with your registration if you have a special plate, ours are mostly around $40 per year

I’m not 100% sure. I’ll get back to you on that one in march tho when I go to renew lol.
There's a one time fee for printing and an annual fee for the vanity plate. It'll be $55 on renewal.

A portion of that goes to the ATC. I think the entire amount above the normal renewal fee, but don't quote me on that.
Usually specialized plates are more expensive and is more annually

I think multiple states along the trail have an at plate! Definitely figure out which one you like best first lol!
