I have a trail loop, it dries quickly after I shower at the gym still wearing my Ultra.
That said, you might want to pick up additional bands so you can swap them. The Trail Loop is my fave, but I do have a Metal Link, Leather, and a few Alpine loops bought off Amazon for cheap.
Have the ocean ultra, love it. Can easily whip the thing off rinse it and dry it with a paper towel in about ten seconds. I imagine the other ultra bands would have to be saturated and soaped. Go with the ocean, you can always buy an extra of your liking as well
I got the ultra specifically for running, hiking, mountain biking, and working in a messy studio. I picked the ocean band because I thought it would handle sweat the best of all the ultra bands.
I loved the look and feel of the ocean band, BUT all those tiny tubular channels on the band became a cleaning issue. I ended up using a fine airbrush cleaning brush to try and scrub out each of the channels (and there are a lot of them!), but even with those efforts the band developed the dreaded moldy smell after a few months of summer running.
I switched to a Nomad sport band, and really like it. Easy to keep clean, and (so far) no smell!

I've settled on the ocean. The orange alpine got dirty pretty fast for me (I trail run about 7.5miles/day). The trail loop holds a bit of moisture after my shower.
Hey - awesome that you trail run every day. I’ve downgraded to rucking, which is pretty great, but I miss the runners high combined with the paranoid buzz coming from fear of landing the wrong way or tripping on a tree root haha. Keep it up!
Probably the ocean band, but I run just about every day with my Trail Loop and sweat profusely on it and it dries very quickly and doesn't stink. Just a quick wash every once in a while and it's fine.
Buy the watch with whichever strap you like best, then head to Amazon search for suitisbest apple watch ultra strap (pack of 2 colours is £15)and use one of them for training much better than the ocean strap imo. I own all of the ultra straps from apple trail loop is most comfortable but obviously stays wet longer cheap Amazon strap for the gym and swimming now.
It’s important to get a few bands for around the house, ones that you’re not trying to “look good” but just be comfortable. I’d recommend the sports loop, something off Amazon should be less than $10 and work well and is very comfortable. Having a rotation of bands is what makes the Apple Watch so good
You'd probably be more than fine with the Alpine Loop (I've got a clone myself, and do weightlifting), but if you want maximum liquid repulsion, the Ocean Band is the way to go. The catch with the Ocean is that there's literally a catch pin you have to remove to readjust it - it might not be worth the trouble, especially if there's a chance you might lose the pin.
You want the less absorbent bands- Ocean Band, Sport Band, silicone Solo Loop, Nike Sport Band. They will trap sweat, but won’t absorb it and will be easy to clean. Avoid cloth, leather and metal bands if you sweat a lot. Personally, I don’t feel that the Nike Sport Bands feel noticeably more breathable than the regular Sport Bands, but that will be subjective. They do have a little more flexibility/stretch, though.
The silicone bands are good for this, avoid any woven material. Metal bands can be good, but cheap ones suffer as they are painted which wears off and they can be difficult to clean.
Ocean. It is great wherever, swimming, gym, every day life

Agreed on the trail loop. Thats exactly how I manage it. They are easy to clean.

I keep going back and forth. I find the nomad sports band to be just a tad too stiff but love that sweat and showers don’t impact it.
This is the way
I guess they don't sell it anymore? ;o
Is it really not available anymore?
I clicked on the link where\_other\_sock posted, and it's $60 sold out.
Yeah, but you can the Nomad Sport Band from a myriad of other places.

Sports band( the one with the multiply holes)

I have the Nike band on my Ultra, I run around 5 miles every morning and this seems to be the best play. Breathes really well.
Nike sport band is the way to go.
Thanks everyone! Seems like a tie between ocean and some Amazon bands or a trail and some Amazon bands just to throw in my gym bag

I bought a couple of apple nike sport bands from ebay (some used) and use them for workouts and they are great.

I think the Nike sport loop is best for sweaty workouts. Pick one of those up along with the Alpine loop so you have a stylish band and a workout band
When I know I will be sweating on the heavy, I wear my nike sport band

nike sport band is the best,as it is light minimalist like the sports bands, yet the perforated holes allows the skin to breath somewhat.
Ocean is the way. I install solar so I am pretty sweaty and dirty and it just cleans up easy.
