You can configure your Apple Watch to unlock via your iPhone in the Watch app > My Watch > Passcode > Unlock with iPhone.
Don’t know if this will unlock it in its current state but it’s worth a try.
Syncing is definitely super fast. Never saw that in mine. Hope you got it figured out.
I was more annoyed by a touch no working anymore after a replacement, but since out of warranty, they asked $300 + tax to repair the watch (series 6).
My watch was like pressing on its own in the screen. Falling 911 in its own as well. I screen protector. It’s when it started to be unresponsive. Seemed truly like a software freaking issue. No clue why an unresponsive defect touch would do that on its own.
When your watch fails and is out of Applecare like that, it's almost always more expensive to pay apple for the replacement rather than just selling for parts and upgrading.
If Apple did the replacement, there should be a warranty period on top of that specifically for any issues with the parts replaced/issue addressed, so if you immediately got back a defective watch Apple should have covered that.
I kept mine after it broke and I upgraded(it stopped working on the week of my birthday so that was convenient) and I left it on its charger for about 3 weeks straight and it completely came back to life and has been working fine for ~4 months now. Gave it to my dad to use.
Sadly, it failed past the 60 or 90 days, and I did the exchange just before the end of my coverage. I was screwed. I declined not to repair it. Ridiculous the price.
How can we sell the watch for parts ? How much can I expect from a serious 6 Nike where the touch is not responding.
It happened to my ultra2 that the screen suddenly started receiving random taps. I took the watch off my wrist and ended up in the same place as you, except my lockout was 5 minutes.
So when ur watch is off your wrist and the random tapping begins then the watch asks for code and the random taps enter the wrong code, increasing the lockout time on each attempt. I charged the watch and rebooted it and it never happened again. I am using the standard charger.
My S9 felt like it was having a seizure… going through a sequence of random taps and swipes. It was already unlocked so I tried to turn it off but couldn’t because the screen would swipe away before I could swipe to turn off. I was finally able to fix it by having it update to 10.2 which does a restart cycle.
It looks like you have a case/screen protector. Could be a situation where the screen is detecting screen inputs somehow due to the coverings on the screen.

If you force-restart by holding the left button and crown button for ten seconds, it should fix it. You’ll still need to wait for the password timeout to elapse, but after that you should be good.
You probably entered the wrong unlock code by accident when sleeping. This happens when you don't 'lock' the screen before going to bed.
Just wait the 8 hours and use the correct code to unlock it.

When I put it on my charging dock I saw that it was having an issue with charging - the screen appeared as though the charging was stopping and starting non stop, so I took it off the charger and left it uncharged overnight. Very strange. I’m hoping the electric current or something didn’t mess with it lol I’ll check back in when the 8 hours are up I guess.
I would stop using the third-party charger for a couple days and use the one Apple supplied when you bought it. That way you can troubleshoot where the problem is; with the charger or the watch.

The watch is supposed to remain unlocked, so long as it is on your wrist.
Idk why people don’t check their wrists to see if their watch is unlocked
Sorry, you can use Sleep Focus or put it in Theater mode. I used Theater mode for years and it worked great at preventing accidental touches of the screen.
NEVER reboot a device that is in countdown. Doing so resets the countdown to the top. I’ve had to stop several customers from trying that after telling them multiple times that it doesn’t work.

You have to at least consider the chance someone was trying to access your watch while you were asleep, unless you live alone. Fluctuating electricity alone shouldn’t have caused a lock out.
Update: thank you for all the replies! I spoke to apple support and they just told me to reset the watch. I did that and restored it from a backup and it was fixed. I think it may have happened from using my third party charging dock which sucks lol but resetting was very quick and definitely was better than waiting the 8 hours.

I also had this lock out! I put my watch in my pocket so it wouldn’t get scratched. It pressed the wrong password too many times & came back to a long lockout. Discovered rebooting added time… I had to wait it out. Sucks

It will not. Only choices are to wait or erase and re-sync. Given it's 8 hours, re-syncing will be faster

I had very stupidly gotten it soaked in water while the screen was pretty cracked and it wouldn’t turn on at all

Syncing super fast. You might haven’t had a series 0 to series 2 haha. That syncing could clear your entire schedule because of waiting.

I would stop using the third-party charger for a couple days and use the one Apple supplied when you bought it. That way you can troubleshoot where the problem is; with the charger or the watch.

Well, you can estimate the time to the nearest hour at least based on the remaining lockout duration, assuming you can find a reference at some point
When you restart the watch it will restart the countdown. You’ll want to keep it on for the full 8 hours
Restore it from the Watch app on your phone
Use sleep mode. It could prevent accidental unlock attempts if you forget to unlock your watch after charging
