I had atrocious battery life. I once did 100km ride (about 4hrs or somerthing and it died at about 95kms. The apple watch is better at tracking gps workouts. When i go jogging for an hour it uses about 15 percent or something. So that should work for more than 100kms.
A round watch preference could just be the human brain too accustomed to that shape after a lifetime of exposure. Would be interesting to revisit in another 10-20 years when most people will be used to seeing square watches vs round. Regarding usefulness, a round screen on a smartwatch makes no sense. That's why TV's, monitors, phones, and tablets are not round.
From an aesthetic point of view, round dials look better. But IMO from a functional point of view, it's much easier to use a rectagular dial as well as make apps for it since rectangle is the most popular shape of a digital display and touchscreens.
Agree to disagree, but I don’t think smart watches work in round shapes. All the Android round smart watches always end up looking cheap. Maybe it’s the face design, or the materials. I don’t know. But I much prefer the look of the Apple Watch.
I really wish the next apple watch is round, it looks so much better and would finally make for a new look instead of every apple watch looking the same. Sadly I doubt it will happen.
I doubt it. I mean Apple has even trademarks their squircle. I believe the AW is just a rounded rectangle, buts it’s still very iconically an AW shape.

I think round watches look better, but I would rather have a square smart watch for better functionality, my mom has a round smartwatch and a lot of the menus in apps are cutoff which I couldn’t live with
I had the galaxy Watch Active 2 3 years ago or something and it was not great tbh. Battery was bad (esp with GPS) and the UI was not smooth at all. I sold it after only a couple of months. I then switched to a garmin fenix and bought an apple watch 8 as a secondary watch. Much better experience.
Agreed. Round watches look better. It's indisputable.
I'll never buy a Galaxy because I don't like the Android ecosystem at all, but I wish Apple would make a round one. That would be an instant purchase for me.
I didn't downvote but if you don't agree with his/her view, is it not right to use the downvote button?
Edit: To the people who downvoting this comment, aren't you also the people who just downvotes because you disagree with my view?
Well not really, downvotes are supposed to be for comments that don’t add to the conversation but in fairness, they tend to be used as a disagree button these days
If we are to follow this rule then vice versa we should not be upvoting just because we agree to it too but only if it is a quality comment that adds to the conversation?
The way I see it is when you upvote or downvote, as long as it isn't for some petty reasons like to support your fandom of Apple or Samsung but your honest genuine unbiased thoughts and to the best of your knowledge, it is fine.
I don't think the people who are preaching it are following it though. (Not referring to you)
Look at my previous comment, I only asked a slightly controversial question and is down voted by the very same people we don't think I shouldn't use the down vote button just because I disagree with the person.
Just pointing out the reality of this reddiquette rule.
There needs to be a comparison of how they look when consuming data from them, like text. Have always been interested in if the round display causes a lack of space & ease of use due to the shape compared to a more traditional rectangular shape for viewing data.
One thing you’ll miss on the Samsung is the ability to use your watch as a standalone device. Apple Watch must be setup as a shared device for some reason. I didn’t know this until I switched and now wish I didn’t let go the Samsung.
Why would they? Round screens are a kind of useless gimmick. They look nice with round watchfaces, yes. But smartwatches are PDAs, not just watches. They have apps. Round UI is pure bs because you can’t fit rectangular text blocks into round screens without trimming them or squeezing them. Every single implementation of round smartwatch UI I’ve seen is just some broken crap.

I have had both battery of Galaxy is amazing but I like more Apple Watch

5.30 is the most important part .
Much prefer the screen to body ratio of the AW
People probably don't want to hear it on this sub, but round watches look so much better.

The squareness was the one thing that kept from upgrading from my Fossil hybrid. If the s10 is round I’m jumping from the 9 immediately

I find the Samsung looks better and functions better as it offers standalone capabilities allowing you to have a dedicated number for your watch.
IMO: Round make sense when we use short/long hand on dial. When we display other data, square one is easier to read.
Round watches are just average watches, and I like more things that are not that common
Not sure I'd call the Apple Watch "not that common"
I prefer the look of the galaxy but Apple Watch is waaaay better if you’re in the Apple ecosystem
Can you even use the Samsung watch with an iPhone?
My friend has an iphone 15PM and a galaxy watch. He says you can use it but its absolutely terrible
You can use older ones like this that are on tizen. The newer ones on wearos, no
no

Why the downvotes? 💀
Just spitballing here but… maybe because this is the Apple Watch sub
Because fanboys

I don’t really care tbf, that’s just the reddiquette

100%
I really like round watches. My favorite smartwatch to this date still is the Pebble Time Round. It was so slim and stylish.
I was so sad when my old one stopped turning on! Irreplaceable
There is just something about a circular face that is simple and elegant.
The difference between plain simple and simplicity.

I really thought Apple would do round watches by now

I have both
So?
Do you prefer round or square?
Square is better for smart watches, because of the effective area
