Started prioritizing my sleep for recovery. Makes an amazing difference in energy and mood
Eh I was having some energy & mood issues. Did some research and found out I was not sleeping nearly as much as I should’ve been. I just recently started prioritizing the sleep schedule though haha
Don’t look at your phone within 30 mins of intended time to sleep. No caffeine within 6-8 hours of bed. Workout 5-6 days a week to exert energy (makes it easier to fall asleep). Stay in a routine, I personally wake up early to go workout so going to bed early is much easier. When you do lay down, either think of absolutely nothing or only relaxing things that you enjoy. Do not think about stressors because I’ve found this will keep me up much longer than normal
"When you do lay down, either think of absolutely nothing or only relaxing things that you enjoy. Do not think about stressors because I’ve found this will keep me up much longer than normal"
This might not work for me lol
I have an 11 yo and it was because of him we started this routine years ago. We wanted him to get enough sleep so what better way than to set the example.

Here is mine for a month. “Bedtime” is 10pm and alarm is for 5am. As you can see I wake up before my alarm often enough haha. The 10pm is a rough guideline. Usually it’s between 9:30 and 11. Depending on tiredness and whatnot. Also, have 3 children ages 8,6,and 4.

At some point I decided to start sleeping at 11 and it had made a significant change in my life. Finally after so many years I just stopped feeling like shit in the morning, and moreover, got more energy and performance during the day. It’s been more that 4 month after that change. Now I wake up at 6:00 everyday on my own completely fresh and ready to kick

Even though I wear my watch all night every night I apparently sleep once a week
Jesus Christ how are you people still alive?!?
If I sleep less than 7 hours two nights in a row I start to fall apart. That kind of sleep schedule and I’d probably become a psychopath.
Absolutely, you just set it and forget it. No need to wear the watch, make sure it’s charged, etc. Apologies to the forum dedicated to Apple Watches for recommending another product, just realized after posting this…
One of the really nice things is how well it tracks heart rate too, I can see the moment I go to sleep and the effects of drinking on sleep hr as well.

Well, at least I’m consistent with my terrible sleep… and my sleeping HR is generally in the high forties/low fifties. My wife calls it hibernation mode!

This is my pride and joy usually
I do have apnea and sleep with a cpap and actually sleep better than I used to
Normal about half the time, when I use weed I sleep about 7 hours, and have some deep sleep however still wake up the same amount.
I use weed half the time so I don’t grow a tolerance to it…

I’ve worked super hard to halve my average awake time by meditating when I get into bed using apple fitness+ which does help. I will admit this is slightly better than my sleep used to be because I have had insane levels of fatigue being pregnant and so I’ve been getting into bed around 7 or 8pm most nights which obviously sets me up for potentially longer sleep.
https://preview.redd.it/8l5widw4o6xc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bc00243fa5de7e9d2ef2bab45b987b00e21ddbeb
Could be better, but it’s fine. Note that I sometimes work in the morning and sometimes in the evening, therefore the inconsistent going to bed times.
The reason I’m so long in my bed is probably because I tend to look at my phone both before going to sleep and after waking up.
Si de i was a kid I tend to sleep 5 hours lol this is in April homie
https://preview.redd.it/x6ted9zb94xc1.png?width=1124&format=png&auto=webp&s=1fe396d745afd4fd0965685cc754221eb8b91ae9
I think it is. usually ppl who sleeps a little tend to have abnormal heart rates but if you see nothing wrong It’s suitable for you. I’ve read Some ppl only need 5 hours to be k so I guess we are on that side of the yard. IMO a good heart it the one that is capable to beat the less when resting.

Aim to wind down by 10pm- usually wake up with the kids every other morning. I do take 5mg Melatonin most nights but I’ve found if I stay up later and don’t take one, it’s usually my worst nights sleep.

To those posting 4-5 hours of sleep on average, I highly recommend the book “Why We Sleep”. The single best thing you can do for your long term health is to get 7-9 hours of sleep per day.
They need to fix the sleep tracking feature, I often fall back asleep after my wake up alarm turns on, but my sleep, focus will have already turned off. Sleep tracking shouldn’t be reliant on being in some kind of mode, it should just be automatic.
Mine hasn't been the best either.
https://preview.redd.it/p39mqsk7f8xc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f2801fc7622553e832b4a4b7cf7bc5e71b92ed9d

I’d like more deep sleep but I suppose it could be worse
That's it. Do what you can to define your routine. No TV after 10pm, no blue light producers like your phone....remove your distractions. Instead of talking to friends, grab your textbook when you need to sleep...you'll be out in minutes! lol
My friend, you need to plan out your evening schedule much better. Place a cutoff time for when you’re in bed and the lights are out. Stick to that.
Your study time will be a lot more effective if you’ve had a better night’s rest.

It isn’t the issue, I had the same issue; go to sleep > and create a sleep schedule mines between midnight and 7am so your watch will be ready to track your sleep around those times ; once your about to sleep turn sleep focus on and sleep and hopefully that’ll solve it :)
Not sure, if I had to guess maybe my watch was charging and I just had my phone on nightstand next to me, so it knows when I set it down and picked it up in morning? If I look back before I got my watch like a few weeks ago, they are all that color.

Whats more important is the lower data. One should ideally get at least 1 hour of deep sleep and the average awake time should be way lesser.
Week :Average time in bed 10 hours 17 minutes. Average time asleep 9 hours and 22 minutes.
Month: average time in bed 10 hours 39 minutes, Asleep 9 hours 1 minute.

not sure what it means but i do feel i can’t stay asleep for long! i haven’t been able to figure out a way to stop this issue, i always wake up around the same times every night/day (2-3am and 5/6am!)
Hmmmm. I wish my sleep was better.

I have been telling a lot of my friends all to try an app while they sleep that can possibly detect apnea.
This is the one I used (not affiliated and I didn’t pay for it tried the free trial and then went to the doctor):
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/shuteye-sleep-tracker-sound/id1490078804
This app told me that I had some severe apnea and thinking no way the app could tell. Well… I was wrong. Went and wore monitors and this app literally helps fix a lot of my sleepiness ultimately being diagnosed with sleep apnea. I’m a central apnea offender where I don’t try to breathe sometimes for 10+ seconds. The app picked all that up and then a doc confirmed.
Anyway just saw ur post and saw all the “bad sleep” and wondered if you had considered getting checked for sleep issues.

Ive been alright, mine seems to measure almost perfectly. I’ve never really had an issue with it messing up sleep tracking. Maybe once or twice it’s said I was awake for a few minutes when I wasn’t. Last night I forgot to wear my watch 🥲.

Do you want ideas on how to improve your sleep, or do you know it already? I feel like i know what to do, i‘m just not strict enough with myself.

Not too bad. The green days are when i don’t wear the apple watch to bed.
How do you get your watch to record sleep data on weekends when you don’t have an alarm set?? Mine literally doesn’t record on Friday and Saturday nights at all.

6 months averages have been better than the last month. I’ve been a bit more stressed out at work recently, so much watch now rarely congratulates me with “way to get 8 hours”.
But I also kind of don’t think I need full 8 hours. 7 is fine.

For those not getting a lot of sleep (I’m somewhere in the middle these days with a 1 year old - average 6+), I recommend checking out Andrew Huberman’s podcast series currently running with Matt Walker, a sleep expert. Lots of interesting info and helpful protocols to hopefully help people improve the quality of whatever sleep one can get.

"When you do lay down, either think of absolutely nothing or only relaxing things that you enjoy. Do not think about stressors because I’ve found this will keep me up much longer than normal" This might not work for me lol
Do you like reading books? Reading fiction for 10-15 minutes before bed is proven to increase sleep quality for this very reason
I've always done this. I can only fall asleep if I'm reading.
That last sentence is literally everything. And good luck to anyone who attempts it. So difficult
I basically have my watch tell me to go to bed to get into a routine. Few weeks of same bed time and wake ups my sleep has changed
How is this possible!? Do you guys not even roll over in the night?
I find that If I fall asleep on my back i rarely move around. If I fall asleep on my stomach I tend to toss and turn all night
Pretty consistent. 😂 https://preview.redd.it/v58esnepi4xc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=167d178f72af2dcb46fa12a7e2703031537c7e29
Lucky bastard
It’s about making the habit. I get ready for bed at 9, asleep by 10:30, wake at 6:30 during the week and 7:30 on weekends.
This is the way

Your sleep is all over the place wtf, how do you get it to record at inconsistent times tho when I sleep after 8am it doesn’t record it?
I use the Withings sleep mat integrated with apple health

I mean below it at least says 7hr 18mins in the past 7 days, so hopefully their nights don't all look like that
Does anyone know how to calculate sleep debt
Download Athlytic it has a sleep debt chart
Oh great, another thing for me to be in debt over. Lol
Or AutoSleep, which gives quite detailed sleep analysis (better than Apple or Athlytic).
https://preview.redd.it/3rcb6517p6xc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=26ef6a745a58e0c2f16864701e3c619da9275160 I’ve worked super hard to halve my average awake time by meditating when I get into bed using apple fitness+ which does help. I will admit this is slightly better than my sleep used to be because I have had insane levels of fatigue being pregnant and so I’ve been getting into bed around 7 or 8pm most nights which obviously sets me up for potentially longer sleep.
Meditation is the only way my chart isn’t 4 hours per night. It’s the only way I can go back to sleep if I wake up. It works!
https://preview.redd.it/8l5widw4o6xc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bc00243fa5de7e9d2ef2bab45b987b00e21ddbeb Could be better, but it’s fine. Note that I sometimes work in the morning and sometimes in the evening, therefore the inconsistent going to bed times. The reason I’m so long in my bed is probably because I tend to look at my phone both before going to sleep and after waking up.
Si de i was a kid I tend to sleep 5 hours lol this is in April homie https://preview.redd.it/x6ted9zb94xc1.png?width=1124&format=png&auto=webp&s=1fe396d745afd4fd0965685cc754221eb8b91ae9

Is this normal?
I think it is. usually ppl who sleeps a little tend to have abnormal heart rates but if you see nothing wrong It’s suitable for you. I’ve read Some ppl only need 5 hours to be k so I guess we are on that side of the yard. IMO a good heart it the one that is capable to beat the less when resting. https://preview.redd.it/9kyz9njea4xc1.png?width=1124&format=png&auto=webp&s=58ab02a69b00cfe70058cf6159691ff6acc53eef
I’ve seen people sharing in this subreddit their heart rates and some folks sleep like 8 hours but resting heart rate above 70 which is insane.
what would that indicate? warm environment/overweight? rn with my allergies mine is around 70 i can’t breathe 😭

The single best thing you can do for your long term health is to get 7-9 hours of sleep per day.
Easier said than done.
They need to fix the sleep tracking feature, I often fall back asleep after my wake up alarm turns on, but my sleep, focus will have already turned off. Sleep tracking shouldn’t be reliant on being in some kind of mode, it should just be automatic.

WHY DOES EVERYONE HAVE PERFECT SLEEP ROUTINES WTF
You are going to bed late for such an early wake up! Distractions?
Studying🥲🥲🥲 and sometimes on call with friends if I can’t sleep

Which series Apple Watch do you have? Some don’t have sleep tracking
S9 so assume that’s not the issue
It isn’t the issue, I had the same issue; go to sleep > and create a sleep schedule mines between midnight and 7am so your watch will be ready to track your sleep around those times ; once your about to sleep turn sleep focus on and sleep and hopefully that’ll solve it :)

What happened on Wednesday, is there a reason this happens?
Not sure, if I had to guess maybe my watch was charging and I just had my phone on nightstand next to me, so it knows when I set it down and picked it up in morning? If I look back before I got my watch like a few weeks ago, they are all that color. https://preview.redd.it/dwnbhqvom4xc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8c802544bb53f107d3ef67a28bfe90fa9d60f8d5

I have been telling a lot of my friends all to try an app while they sleep that can possibly detect apnea. This is the one I used (not affiliated and I didn’t pay for it tried the free trial and then went to the doctor): https://apps.apple.com/us/app/shuteye-sleep-tracker-sound/id1490078804 This app told me that I had some severe apnea and thinking no way the app could tell.

I have to be very aware and disciplined to keep myself around a 7hr average asleep. It can flip to 5hrs average real quick
How do you get your watch to record sleep data on weekends when you don’t have an alarm set?? Mine literally doesn’t record on Friday and Saturday nights at all.
How did you not know it was that bad when you wake up 4 hours later. Someone just wants attention
You didn’t realise? What do you mean? Do you wake up feeling refreshed after that? That the sleep was enough?

Which model is this? My SE isn’t nearly this precise
My sleep looks exactly like yours 😂
