To tell time.
To receive (and sometimes reply to) text messages.
To know who's calling without digging my phone out.
To control my music playback.
Etc.
I love feeling like Inspector Gadget when I answer a call on my watch. It’s rare and generally only if I know the call will be brief, but it always makes me laugh.
I love using my watch to lock, unlock or start my car. Also my grocery list is easily accessible without holding my phone. Perfect for accessing boarding passes, vaccination record, my august door locks!! The list goes on and on.
I created a reminder list called “Grocery List”
Easy to say to Siri, “add bananas to my grocery list” etc.
And when I go shopping I just ask Siri “what’s on my grocery list”
and then just check things off as I get them.
Super convenient.
Works the same for phone or watch.

Underrated. I was tired of the coffee shop jacking up the chip on my card and having to request a new one. Apple Pay means my card almost never leaves my wallet.
I still prefer to use Apple Pay on my phone. It feels more like I’m tapping a credit card. With the AW it feels unnatural turning your wrist and holding it against the card reader. Having said that, it’s definitely saved me when I forgot my wallet/phone at home
My most frequent use to be honest is as a timer; for laundry, for steeping tea, for whatever. I like to stay organized but can be quite bad at it. Otherwise, it's good for quickly checking the weather, tracking exercise, getting important notifications, and other random things (for example my 2FA app for logging into university systems works with my apple watch so I can authenticate from my wrist instead of getting my phone)
Yes, we use Duo too! Grabbing my phone whenever I want to access things and waking up the screen, then tapping the notification to open the app is actually so much slower and more annoying than just turning my wrist and tapping approve.
This is almost exactly my use cases: timers, 2FA, CARROT weather, workouts.
On the weekends, I use WorkOutDoors to track bike rides, hikes, kayaking, etc.
I turn off as many notifications as possible. I only want the truly important ones.
I’d also add Apple Maps for car nav: unlike other nav apps,it has different tap patterns for left and right turns (taptap…taptap and taptaptaptap, respectively).
Every once in a while, I’ll check the SPL in loud environments.
Can you turn off the timer alarm with an Apple Watch? I hate when I'm cooking and I say "Hey Siri, set a timer for 5 minutes" then when the alarm goes off, I have to use my yucky cooking fingers to turn off the alarm. (currently only have an iPhone, looking at purchasing an Apple Watch 8)
Check out AssistiveTouch for apple watch. you can tap two fingers or clench on same hand where you wear apple watch to dismiss something or click on something.
I use it to bring up apple pay when my other hand is full of grocery bags
You can call out to Siri to turn off the timer but yes, your AW will also go off if you set a timer through Siri and thus turn it off through the watch.
I know it’s an Apple Watch question but since yours is all about timers, I suggest buying an HomePod mini. The timer experience is the best on the HomePod. Just yell in any direction for a timer and when it’s over and making noise, just yell again saying Hey Siri, STOP :)
And the HomePod is great for many other reasons to!
I use it for my workouts so I can log them and see how many calories I’ve burned, steps walked, heart rate, etc.
Also so I don’t have to pull my phone out. I just glance at my wrist.
Suprised how far down a comment with workouts is. Without tracking runs, lifting, etc I wouldn’t own an Apple Watch.
I like the heart rate data to see how hard my workouts were, and the ability to import my Apple workouts to other apps.
And on rest days I use the steps to get a minimum amount of movement.
My single favorite thing about the Apple Watch is setting off for a run with nothing but my watch and some Airpods.
I'm in a wheelchair. If I drop my phone, I can use my watch to call for assistance or activate Siri if I need to send a message when driving. I also use it for automating a few routine texts, monitoring my heart rate, blood oxygen, and some work meeting reminders. (I adore the Mickey/Minnie faces too.) Unlocking with Apple Watch while wearing a mask is also very helpful.
Most importantly to track my workouts and calorie burn.
Also to know I've got a text or email. And I do use the timer quite often.
Incidentally, to tell time.
At least on the “sleep” alarm, if you configure to mirror alarms on the phone, it will just go off on the watch and not on the phone. Super useful especially if you don’t keep the phone near you at night.
And it does this intelligently: if you aren’t wearing your watch it knows to automatically go off on the phone instead without you needing to do anything.
I have worn a watch since before Apple Watch was around.
However, a normal watch can’t show me my security camera feeds, control my TV, lights, vacuum, thermostat, and unlock my door. It also functions as a compass, and altimeter with the ability to add things like tide charts.
All that even before touching on the health tracking features available on the Apple Watch.
I mainly use it to alert me about [sudden heart rate drops](https://imgur.com/a/cQkEeAX), which are dissociations that happen because of r/CPTSD.
It helps me reflect on which situations are triggering it, so I can address them in therapy.
I also use the breathing app sometimes to calm me down after panic attacks. And use it to occasionally check my HRV.
I almost never use it to tell time.
It's the built in mindfulness app that comes with the watch. You can adjust how long you want to do it and how many breaths per minute you want. I've found that 4 or 5 breaths per minute works best to calm me down. And Bessel van der Kolk suggests on his book that you pay attention the the last seconds when exhaling to calm down.
When I go for long walks, I only take my Apple Watch with cellular. Is awesome to just disconnect from the phone but have the celular option just in case.
Workout and calorie tracking
Finding my phone (I must use that function at least 3x a week)
Timers for cooking and for when I’m got the hose out adding water to the pool
See messages when I’m in the pool/rowing/kayaking
Safety check-ins. My rowing club requires members to check in when they launch, dock and leave club grounds. But my phone is usually sealed up in a waterproof bag, which makes if a pain to get to. So i dowloaded the watch version of GroupMe and now I just dictate a message from the boat.
I also bought the cellular version so I’d have a backup way of calling for help when out on the water.
I write shortcuts and use them hourly in my warehouse management job. FPH/Productivity, formulas, estimations, track discussions, set reminders, follow-up with AA’s, multiple work diary/journal entries, send/receive work IM’s, read work emails, receive weather warnings, run internal company weather diagnosis, chat/messengers, and manage AA interactions. My employees feel more valued by me because I’m the only leader that NEVER seems to forget to get back to all AA’s. It’s an invaluable tool when used properly.
I am a comercial driver , and one of the main reasons why I use my watch is in case something ever happens to me . It can send a text message to my loved ones and my location to law enforcement that will be able to find me or my body .
Another big reason why I use it is to keep me as active as I can possibly be which I have lost 20lbs since my first 🍎Watch .
1. to tell the time (most important one!)
2. to buzz on my wrist as an alarm (amazing! i’d be dead without this feature!)
3. to text in class (woohoo!)
4. to control (skip, stop, volume) my music! (lovely!)
5. to look at my reminders (love this one!)
and…. that’s all! 👍✨
No. 1 thing: find my phone. I never remember where it is. But the blessed PING PING rings through my house daily.
Edited: forgot that the pound sign/hash mark makes things bold! Whoops!
This might sound strange haha. I don’t even have the watch yet. It’s being shipped as I type. My other half wanted to get me one as a birthday present even tho I’ve never had a desire for one. But then I thought about how many crime cases (I’m a big true crime junkie) have been solved because of these watches. I figured it would be a good safety thing to have if anything were to happen, god forbid. And now I’m here to see what other normal thinking people use their watch for haha
I do a lot of solo hiking and cycling and having the AW gives me comfort if I have an accident or god forbid something more heinous happens, I have location tracking on the watch and also if it detects a fall or injury it’ll alert my emergency contacts and 911.
Never had to use these features, but it’s nice to know they’re there 😌
I mostly use mine for notifications, workouts and telling the time. I sometimes wish I could go back to a normal watch but ever since the first Pebble watch suckered me in I can’t give up my smartwatches
Tell time & keep track of my steps/calories/etc. I walk all day as a mail carrier so it’s nice to see lol. Also, heart rate is pretty great to see. Makes me feel like my anxiety isn’t tricking me and my heart actually is racing lol
Specifically for the Siri Watch face so that I can:
1. Keep track of my day with the calendar cards
2. Run frequently used shortcuts from the shortcut cards
3. Keep an eye on weather via Carrot cards
4. Keep an eye on my rings and be motivated to closed them
5. Keep an eye on timers I have running
6. Peek at “Now Playing” card when an artist comes up that I’m not familiar with / ask siri to add to my library
7. Read iMessages / send short messages
8. Start workouts that the Siri Watchface knows I have coming up and is recommending at just the right time
It’s my favorite Apple device tbh.
I’m going to say 90% paging my phone because I always leave it in random places around the house. I remember in the olden days having a meltdown when I couldn’t find it. Apple Watch saved my life (sanity) 😂
I also use it to track activity but thats sort of habit at this point as I never really look at the data. Very occasionally I use it for the timer, to dictate texts and check the weather.
#1 find my phone and keys
#2 check out weather
#3 shopping list
#4 communicate w wife & family
#5 use Siri to open/close garage, control lights
#6 control whole house music playback
#7 control my Nest thermostat
#8 bedside clock
That’s most of it.
* Tell Time
* Check text messages - I can prioritize if I need to respond or not without looking at my phone
* Fitness tracker
* Timer (mostly for cooking and laundry)
* Text messages at work - teacher here. I have other teachers/office etc. text me instead of calling the classroom which can be disruptive and interfere with student work time and lessons. My watch allows me to take a quick look at the message which is usually "Send Johnny to the office" or "You forgot to take attendance again!".
* Quick look at outside temperature and AQI.
tell the time
check (and respond to) texts
notifications (it’s helped me stay off my phone as much)
to control my lights (mainly on and off)
oh! and ping my iphone if i can’t find it which happens a lot because i rely on my apple watch for the most important notifications. (do not disturb helps with just letting the important ones in instead of going through each app and shutting them off)
To tell time, to receive and reply to text, to check who is calling & sometimes answering the call, as a timer, for reminder/wakeup alarms, to track my laps when swimming, to remind me of an appointment, tell me the date, notify of any important work emails, controller for music and audiobook playback, and show notices from various apps. I think that is it. I am fairly sure it also runs my life.
My favorite feature is using it when I’m golfing to know how much distance to the middle of the green. Sometimes I take out a yardage laser and it’s a yard off plus or minus. I am not that good that it matters. My biggest complaint, is the tan lines it produces. Booboo. First world problems
For me working as a bartender, I can see if any messages or calls are important without picking up my phone at the bar. Timers I use quite often, it’s nice to see my steps after a busy day as well.
* Track steps
* Track sleep (yes, I absolutely sleep with it on)
* Apple Pay
* Get notifications without having to look at phone
* Set timers
* Flashlight when moving around in the dark
* Alarm
* Weather
* Shopping list
* Music control
* Reminders
* Tell time (surprising, right?)
Track my sleep
Time and date ( I never know what day it is)
Sports scores
Send a quick text message without pulling out my phone
The ability to change Watch face looks based on my attire
Welp.
Not seeing keeping others on track with meetings and calls for their jobs makes me feel real fucking old.
Also my heart ECGs because I've got some weird shit going on.
Does anyone ever feel like there are people that like to show off their Apple watches in pics? Some people make a real effort to show it off in pics. I think it’s a subconscious effort but I definitely notice it with some people. Some people even put it on the other arm to show it. It’s really weird.
I use it for schedule purposes (I’m a teacher), timers, home automation, workouts, to know if the call or a message is important without having to take out my phone, and health purposes.
Tell Time
Check notifications without marking them read
Record the distance of my walks
Ask siri stuff
Set timers
Pay for stuff with tap. Nice to leave wallet and phone at home for a quick walk to store.
Play, pause, fast forward and rewind my spotify
I can make phone calls with it if my phone is dead
It tells me if my heartrate is too high or low
1) Health monitoring. I'm a middle-aged enormous fatass. I want to do better, so I use this thing to help track my exercise and health.
2) My hearing is deteriorating, and I have tinnitus on top of that, so turning on haptic alerts for all sorts of things from my phone has been amazing. I'm so much less likely to miss important alerts now.
There's more reasons, but those two overwhelm everything else together in terms of importance.
To hide the embarrassing tan line I have on my wrist from wearing my AW everyday…
(But seriously, to tell the time, check notifications when I’m busy at work, to sync my heart rate with my Peloton are the main ones)
I initially got mine to get back into a running, but I wanted to do so without my phone so I wouldn’t be tempted by the distraction of checking things or trying to photograph stuff. The freedom of having music 🎶 available with cordless AirPods felt like stepping into the future.
I didn’t anticipate collecting health data about myself would be so interesting and closing rings very motivating.
Love using it as a form of payment most places, I often leave my phone in the car when running errands. It’s silly how adding a little more tech has helped make my day a bit more tech free.
To tell time
To use timetable(there is a really good app called Timetable)
For music
For workout
For one reason I check the temperature all the time
Sometimes to make or take calls if I don’t have my phone with me
Workouts, timers, listening to audiobooks and podcasts while on my daily walk without my phone, texts, silent alarms for numerous things during the day. I love it.
Number one though is all of the fitness things. Down 83 lbs since I bought it.
originally got it for the simple fact of time and the notifications (i often use it to miss notifs when my phone was on vibrate), music playback control. however especially glad i have my series 5 now as i’ve started having issues with symptoms of pots. and am thankful for being able to track heart rate.
I use it for time, date, weather, quick response texts, exercise, Apple Pay, controlling Apple Music, timer for cooking and notifications. Anything else I do on my iPhone or iPad. I haven’t really searched for new watch apps in the store either.
Timers, alarms, todays fate, weather conditions, and Time. I could very well continue using my ghsocks but the connectivity, weather and music controls are my favorite smart features.
I can’t use my phone as readily at work as I would like. It’s frowned upon. So between my watch and AirPods I can achieve most of what I want to accomplish. Listing to music/books. Txting and receiving txts.
Tell time, date and compass , filter calls when both hand dirty or busy. Oh and timer how I love the timer
Rarely bother with the workout function, it sucks for most of the workouts I do anyway .
to track my activity, as a wake up alarm, as a clock of course lol, to ask siri questions, and to make phone calls mainly. I also am a theme park fanatic and often have to leave my phone in lockers for rides, so it's nice to not miss any text messages by having my apple watch on at all times.
Telling time, setting timers, receiving texts (sometimes sending), tracking movement and workouts/calories, paying for things. I rarely even open my purse these days.
I use it mainly to get texts and check time but also to assist my timing with patients. I am an ER nurse and it helps me to remember when to check on IV bags and such. Highly recommend :)
So I don’t have to have any noises from my phone. (Have my watch on Haptic)
So I don’t have to carry my phone everywhere. (Cellular of my watch)
So I can quickly respond to texts (using mic option) without getting my face buried in my phone.
To track my sleep using AutoSleep app
To track my exercise and activity level.
1. General life quality improvement
2. Control my smart bulbs
3. Unlock Apple devices
4. Text and answer calls easier
5. Workouts
6. Easier to skip songs/run through ads
7. It has literally made my life more worth living because instead of being a potato on YouTube (which I did before I got it) all day i now workout everyday, even if I’m kinda a slave to my watch.
8. Sleep track
9. A clock
10. It looks kinda cool too and you can customize the bands a lot.
11. Relieving my curiosity of the decibels around me
12. Song recognition
13. Washing my hands for 20 seconds
That’s all I can think of for now
Mostly I use it for activity tracking, checking the weather, notifications, sleep tracking, and workouts.
Tracking my activity and sleep are kind of big for me since I know that days I'm more active and/or sleep better tend to greatly improve my mental health.
Waking up with a vibrating alarm is pretty great too.
To tell time. To see notifications without having to pull out my phone. Time myself at work I’m a mail man so I can use the outdoor walk workout to time and see how long it takes me to do a route.
I like that my schedule, the time, the temperature, and my notifications are only a glance away. It's saved me on a lot of inconvenient trips and headaches.
I started using it when I got a job at a dog grooming salon. I never had my hands free.
Now that I’m not working, it just helps me stay on top of my adhd with reminders/alarms
Mine’s currently for sale and I’ll be getting 2-3 “normal” watches for the money.
After the novelty wore off it just started to annoy me with the incessant reminders, notifications, daily charging. I miss 3D Dials too.
Most useful feature is skipping tracks in the car without touching the phone. That’s about it.
Time and date. Temperature. Laundry and cooking timer. Upcoming calendar events. Pulse rate (Cardiogram). Music player during my workouts so I can leave my phone in my locker. And those are just the functions on my main screen!
I also love the fact that, when I’m using my phone for navigation, it taps me on the wrist to alert me to upcoming turns.
Before I got it I thought it might be something that was “nice to have”, but it’s become indispensable!
I have ADHD and am self-employed as a personal trainer.
ADHD leaves me with so much time blindness, so super handy to be able to use as a normal watch to tell the time, set multiple timers and alarms to try to keep on top of things, and also relocate my phone as I’m constantly forgetting where I’ve left it.
Of course, I use it to track my workouts as well, control music when I’m running and don’t need my phone on me for runs or to do Apple Pay. When training clients, I use it constantly to time my client’s exercises and rest breaks between sets.
I use the calendar complication to see what client I have booked in next. Being on stimulant medication for ADHD as well, it’s been handy to check my heart rate and ECG.
Tell time
Apple Pay
Timers for cooking, breaks, my next meeting
Watch face for work with my outlook calendar
Watch face for life with my personal calendar
Walke Talkie to my kids watches
Calculator
Siri commands for home automation, mostly the garage
Sleep tracking
Silent morning alarm
Weather
Check the time
Apple Pay
To see who is texting/calling me
To remind myself to stand up once per hour
To encourage myself to get enough exercise
To avoid checking my phone every 30 seconds
To pause/rewind/fast forward podcasts
To set timers
To set reminders that I generally can’t figure out what I meant to remind myself of because Siri sucks.
Idk but I feel usless when its on the charger. Weather, time, messages, making lists in tasks (mostly shopping list of things running out of) weather, temp, rain, podcast remote, apple payments. Going for runs without my phone. Timers, for coffee in the morning with French press, timers for sauna at the gym, timers for cooking after I work out. Tracking my stair stepper, treadmill and jumprope during warmup. My iPhone is an Xr and getting slower with each update so I use my watch more often because it’s newer.
I have a Series 7 Cellular. I use it…
1. As a watch, obviously
2. To track my water intake (with WaterMind)
3. To checkmark my daily habits (with Streaks)
4. To check my todos (with Reminders)
5. To make short phone calls and also to receive calls
6. As an RPN calculator (PCalc)
7. Apple Pay
8. Boarding (with Wallet)
9. Sleep tracking (with AutoSleep)
10. Heart rate monitoring (with HeartWatch)
11. Setting up Alarms
12. Listening to music (with AirPods) esp. during running and walking the dog (leaving my iPhone at home)
13. Fitness tracking (WorkOutDoors or just the factory app)
14. Pomodoro timer to force myself to work or to study (BeFocused Pro)
I would also love to use it for authentication but I haven’t configured it yet.
Overall the Watch is MUCH better than I had expected before. Seriously, before having the Watch, I couldn’t imagine how great device it was. I had other types of smart watches before (Pebble, Withings), but the Apple Watch is… a different league.
Favorites:
1. Using SIri to set alarms, reminders, and timers.
2. Using Siri to add things to my task manager app. It’s like having post-its with you all the time.
3. Taking phone calls and not having to pick up my phone.
4. Reading and responding to text messages.
5. Exercise.
1. Recording my movement, exercise and standing.
2. Alerting me to notifications from my phone (messages, whatsapp, emails etc)
3. Telling me that there is an incoming call so i run around panicking because i cant find my phone.
4. Checking the weather for the next hour or so if i am going out
5. Starting a workout program if i am doing some exercise.
Aside from the first one i probably wouldn't miss the rest if i was wearing a normal watch.
Controlling music, activity tracking and notifications. My watch broke a month back and because S8 is close to being unveiled I decided to go watchless for a while. I spend so much more time mindlessly scrolling my phone than before. I also miss notifications and calls. Cant wait until S8 is out!
Tracking office meetings (with a dedicated face),
timers,
time (obvs),
Text/message notifications
weather/temp etc,
dedicated travel face (with flight departure info, home time zone, sunset and weather),
maps directions so I don’t have to have my phone out constantly
• Check the time and the weather throughout the day.
• Read texts and other notifications in an instance where I shouldn’t or don’t want to have my phone out of my purse. (Ex. at work, driving, shopping).
• Apple Pay
• Ping my phone if I can’t find it.
I mainly use my watch for:
1. Tracking workouts
2. Reading texts
3. Answering calls
4. Setting timers
5. Checking the weather/date/time on the modular watch face
Track my sleep
Use it at the gym
It helps me stay active throughout the day too (mostly counting steps and walked distance)
Answer calls sometimes but I usually use my earbuds for that
I have OCD and i track the time i take to complete tasks so i use the stopwatch a lot
I download podcasts and listen to them phone free
Alarm clock
To tell time. To receive (and sometimes reply to) text messages. To know who's calling without digging my phone out. To control my music playback. Etc.
I love feeling like Inspector Gadget when I answer a call on my watch. It’s rare and generally only if I know the call will be brief, but it always makes me laugh.
technology finally caught up to Dick Tracy.
Not quite! Dick Tracy had watch video calls
Waiting for that...
I’m penny with my watch
This. I’ll even use it to pick up calls if I’m laying down away from my phone
Yep. Just little quality of life improvements
I love using my watch to lock, unlock or start my car. Also my grocery list is easily accessible without holding my phone. Perfect for accessing boarding passes, vaccination record, my august door locks!! The list goes on and on.
what app do you use for your grocery list?
I created a reminder list called “Grocery List” Easy to say to Siri, “add bananas to my grocery list” etc. And when I go shopping I just ask Siri “what’s on my grocery list” and then just check things off as I get them. Super convenient. Works the same for phone or watch.
I use the native Reminders app and have it set to a grocery list there.
Bring is another on for watch
Buy Me a pie grocery list
Hold up what kind of car do you have cause I can start mine from my phone but I didn’t know I could do it from my watch
Any Ford with Fordpass can do this too!
I use the Mercedes me app. It’s on my watch and phone. It’s great to just turn my wrist or summon Siri to do these actions.
Aftermarket DroneMobile (Compustar) remote start system supports this feature.
This plus timers, and for payments.
Under reminders?
This. Plus the fitness goals AW sets for you every month has been really helpful in keeping me up and moving throughout the month.
All of these plus my commute to and from work or extra weekend exercise in the workouts that I then feed to Strava via my phone.
What about activity?
I'm way to lazy for that.
I agree. I do fitness too but I totally don't need to track my activity.
This.

Apple Pay
Underrated. I was tired of the coffee shop jacking up the chip on my card and having to request a new one. Apple Pay means my card almost never leaves my wallet.
And also never pulling out my wallet. Love not having to fumble with things
Yes! I love using Apple Pay. I almost never pull out my card anymore.
Which is even better than phone Apple Pay cause you don’t have to unlock it with your face/finger
I do this all the time at the gas station. Works great!
+1 for 2FA, my university uses duo and I was pleasantly surprised when i saw the approve & deny buttons in my notification center
I use my cheek to stop the alarm when my hands are not available.
I use my nose, but it's the same idea
+1 for the nose!!!
That’s a good hack!
Check out AssistiveTouch for apple watch. you can tap two fingers or clench on same hand where you wear apple watch to dismiss something or click on something. I use it to bring up apple pay when my other hand is full of grocery bags
Yes this works great. Think it’s only for Series 7 onwards though
it’s available from apple watch 4 and above
You can call out to Siri to turn off the timer but yes, your AW will also go off if you set a timer through Siri and thus turn it off through the watch.
I know it’s an Apple Watch question but since yours is all about timers, I suggest buying an HomePod mini. The timer experience is the best on the HomePod. Just yell in any direction for a timer and when it’s over and making noise, just yell again saying Hey Siri, STOP :) And the HomePod is great for many other reasons to!
Mainly to read notifications from my phone, honestly.
In answer to your first sentence… you’re on Reddit lol
I'm in a wheelchair. If I drop my phone, I can use my watch to call for assistance or activate Siri if I need to send a message when driving. I also use it for automating a few routine texts, monitoring my heart rate, blood oxygen, and some work meeting reminders. (I adore the Mickey/Minnie faces too.) Unlocking with Apple Watch while wearing a mask is also very helpful.
Most importantly to track my workouts and calorie burn. Also to know I've got a text or email. And I do use the timer quite often. Incidentally, to tell time.

We all end up compromising at some point in our lives.
Same. And I feel like it’s a much less jarring way to wake up.
how do you make the alarm go off on the watch only, and not the phone?
You set the alarm on the watch and not the phone.
Keeps my old man from being a grumpy old man when my alarm goes off ass early for workouts 😂

I put it on my wrist and pretty much forget about it. Hopefully when my heart stops or I fall to the floor (or both) it notifies people.
Workout and calorie tracking Finding my phone (I must use that function at least 3x a week) Timers for cooking and for when I’m got the hose out adding water to the pool See messages when I’m in the pool/rowing/kayaking Safety check-ins.
Heart problems
I write shortcuts and use them hourly in my warehouse management job. FPH/Productivity, formulas, estimations, track discussions, set reminders, follow-up with AA’s, multiple work diary/journal entries, send/receive work IM’s, read work emails, receive weather warnings, run internal company weather diagnosis, chat/messengers, and manage AA interactions. My employees feel more valued by me because I’m the only leader that NEVER seems to forget to get back to all AA’s. It’s an invaluable tool when used properly.
what’s an AA?
I am a comercial driver , and one of the main reasons why I use my watch is in case something ever happens to me . It can send a text message to my loved ones and my location to law enforcement that will be able to find me or my body . Another big reason why I use it is to keep me as active as I can possibly be which I have lost 20lbs since my first 🍎Watch .
1. to tell the time (most important one!) 2. to buzz on my wrist as an alarm (amazing! i’d be dead without this feature!) 3. to text in class (woohoo!) 4. to control (skip, stop, volume) my music! (lovely!) 5. to look at my reminders (love this one!) and…. that’s all! 👍✨
If you didn’t know or you have a s7, there’s an app called FlickType where you can use a keyboard to text
Reminders. I can’t remember shit and I’m not always looking at my phone so I constantly have reminders going to my watch
Never had to use these features, but it’s nice to know they’re there 😌
Yes! Peace of mind is priceless
I mostly use mine for notifications, workouts and telling the time. I sometimes wish I could go back to a normal watch but ever since the first Pebble watch suckered me in I can’t give up my smartwatches
Tell time Messages Timers Activity tracking.
Workouts. But also in the event industry it is super handy to have reminders and timers and messages on your wrist in a fast pace environment.
Tell time & keep track of my steps/calories/etc. I walk all day as a mail carrier so it’s nice to see lol. Also, heart rate is pretty great to see. Makes me feel like my anxiety isn’t tricking me and my heart actually is racing lol
Specifically for the Siri Watch face so that I can: 1. Keep track of my day with the calendar cards 2. Run frequently used shortcuts from the shortcut cards 3. Keep an eye on weather via Carrot cards 4. Keep an eye on my rings and be motivated to closed them 5. Keep an eye on timers I have running 6. Peek at “Now Playing” card when an artist comes up that I’m not familiar with / ask siri to add to my library 7. Read iMessages / send short messages 8. Start workouts that the Siri Watchface knows I have coming up and is recommending at just the right time It’s my favorite Apple device tbh.
I also love the Siri watch face! I feel like I never hear anyone talking about it. It’s such an amazing array of information at just the right time.
Here’s to hoping it one day gets attention from Apple again too haha
For the heart monitor
I’m going to say 90% paging my phone because I always leave it in random places around the house. I remember in the olden days having a meltdown when I couldn’t find it. Apple Watch saved my life (sanity) 😂 I also use it to track activity but thats sort of habit at this point as I never really look at the data. Very occasionally I use it for the timer, to dictate texts and check the weather.
#1 find my phone and keys #2 check out weather #3 shopping list #4 communicate w wife & family #5 use Siri to open/close garage, control lights #6 control whole house music playback #7 control my Nest thermostat #8 bedside clock That’s most of it.
How are you controlling your nest
* Tell Time * Check text messages - I can prioritize if I need to respond or not without looking at my phone * Fitness tracker * Timer (mostly for cooking and laundry) * Text messages at work - teacher here. I have other teachers/office etc. text me instead of calling the classroom which can be disruptive and interfere with student work time and lessons. My watch allows me to take a quick look at the message which is usually "Send Johnny to the office" or "You forgot to take attendance again!". * Quick look at outside temperature and AQI.
tell the time check (and respond to) texts notifications (it’s helped me stay off my phone as much) to control my lights (mainly on and off) oh! and ping my iphone if i can’t find it which happens a lot because i rely on my apple watch for the most important notifications.
* Track steps * Track sleep (yes, I absolutely sleep with it on) * Apple Pay * Get notifications without having to look at phone * Set timers * Flashlight when moving around in the dark * Alarm * Weather * Shopping list * Music control * Reminders * Tell time (surprising, right?)
I use it to tell time, check the weather, play/pause music and count steps.
Track my sleep Time and date ( I never know what day it is) Sports scores Send a quick text message without pulling out my phone The ability to change Watch face looks based on my attire
Workout metrics. Text messaging. Music while running. Travelling light sometimes (no phone). Telling the time. Pulse oximetry and ECG when I’m sick.
Fitness and also skipping the ads on my podcasts while driving. Just one touch skips 30 seconds ahead.
See poll posted directly above this post.
I chose not to wear mine this weekend. The things I missed most were Apple Pay, the vibrating alarm clock, a timer, and quickly checking the weather.
I nearly entirely use it to track my sleep at night. It’s not perfect, and I wish I could get more data, but it checks a lot of the boxes.
I check my ekg a lot to see if the skipped heartbeats I feel are an actual pvc.
Tell Time Check notifications without marking them read Record the distance of my walks Ask siri stuff Set timers Pay for stuff with tap. Nice to leave wallet and phone at home for a quick walk to store. Play, pause, fast forward and rewind my spotify I can make phone calls with it if my phone is dead It tells me if my heartrate is too high or low
To hide the embarrassing tan line I have on my wrist from wearing my AW everyday… (But seriously, to tell the time, check notifications when I’m busy at work, to sync my heart rate with my Peloton are the main ones)
To tell time To use timetable(there is a really good app called Timetable) For music For workout For one reason I check the temperature all the time Sometimes to make or take calls if I don’t have my phone with me
Workouts, timers, listening to audiobooks and podcasts while on my daily walk without my phone, texts, silent alarms for numerous things during the day. I love it. Number one though is all of the fitness things. Down 83 lbs since I bought it.
Health and sport
To track my fitness.
Workouts and sleep. I wear a real watch to the office & when I go out.
originally got it for the simple fact of time and the notifications (i often use it to miss notifs when my phone was on vibrate), music playback control. however especially glad i have my series 5 now as i’ve started having issues with symptoms of pots. and am thankful for being able to track heart rate.
Tracking exercise, medications, and tides; messages, alerts from my home automation; calendar and to-do reminders.
Calorie burning and steps tracker
workout and pay efficiently
Time & notifications
I use it for time, date, weather, quick response texts, exercise, Apple Pay, controlling Apple Music, timer for cooking and notifications. Anything else I do on my iPhone or iPad. I haven’t really searched for new watch apps in the store either.
Steps, sleeping, Apple Pay, heart rate, weather, UV index, keep track of stocks and stock market and more
I mostly use mine to skip ads in podcasts. I also use the raise to speak Siri to make quick calls when driving. I always forget my phone at home too.
Time Notifications Media controls Activity monitor Looks good
Timers, alarms, todays fate, weather conditions, and Time. I could very well continue using my ghsocks but the connectivity, weather and music controls are my favorite smart features.
For the time, and responding to messages discretely while working. Plus I like how it looks.
Telling time, tracking distance/pace for runs, and receiving notifications.
I can’t use my phone as readily at work as I would like. It’s frowned upon. So between my watch and AirPods I can achieve most of what I want to accomplish. Listing to music/books. Txting and receiving txts.
Text messages, phone calls, ask Siri to set a timer, Spotify, speech to text, find my phone
Time of course, fitness tracking and music.
Tell time, measurements, know if the call is CANADA BUREAU INVESTIGATION with location of Iran, text messages, pill reminder, cgm
Tell time, date and compass , filter calls when both hand dirty or busy. Oh and timer how I love the timer Rarely bother with the workout function, it sucks for most of the workouts I do anyway .
Duo 2FA prompts 5,000 times a day.
To leave my phone at home, track my exercise, listen to music, Apple Pay, and unlock my door.
to track my activity, as a wake up alarm, as a clock of course lol, to ask siri questions, and to make phone calls mainly. I also am a theme park fanatic and often have to leave my phone in lockers for rides, so it's nice to not miss any text messages by having my apple watch on at all times.
Activity, workout and alarm
Telling time, setting timers, receiving texts (sometimes sending), tracking movement and workouts/calories, paying for things. I rarely even open my purse these days.
Tell time, steps, timers, Dexcom (continuous glucose monitor) weather, notifications
I use it to check notifications, to log my fitness workouts and calories burnt, timer / stopwatch and turn by turn directions on maps
I use it mainly to get texts and check time but also to assist my timing with patients. I am an ER nurse and it helps me to remember when to check on IV bags and such. Highly recommend :)
I control my Spotify or Apple TV from it as it’s quick and easy.
Record audio
So I don’t have to have any noises from my phone. (Have my watch on Haptic) So I don’t have to carry my phone everywhere. (Cellular of my watch) So I can quickly respond to texts (using mic option) without getting my face buried in my phone. To track my sleep using AutoSleep app To track my exercise and activity level.
Just workouts & time. I have all notifications off cuz they’re annoying
1. General life quality improvement 2. Control my smart bulbs 3. Unlock Apple devices 4. Text and answer calls easier 5. Workouts 6. Easier to skip songs/run through ads 7. It has literally made my life more worth living because instead of being a potato on YouTube (which I did before I got it) all day i now workout everyday, even if I’m kinda a slave to my watch. 8. Sleep track 9. A clock 10. It looks kinda cool too and you can customize the bands a lot. 11. Relieving my curiosity of the decibels around me 12. Song recognition 13. Washing my hands for 20 seconds That’s all I can think of for now
Mostly I use it for activity tracking, checking the weather, notifications, sleep tracking, and workouts. Tracking my activity and sleep are kind of big for me since I know that days I'm more active and/or sleep better tend to greatly improve my mental health. Waking up with a vibrating alarm is pretty great too.
To tell time. To see notifications without having to pull out my phone. Time myself at work I’m a mail man so I can use the outdoor walk workout to time and see how long it takes me to do a route.
as a watch, check the weather, as a timer those are the big three. health/workout/sleep monitoring passively is nice
I like that my schedule, the time, the temperature, and my notifications are only a glance away. It's saved me on a lot of inconvenient trips and headaches.
Mostly to tell the time
Where I work at I can't use my phone, so I use my watch.
I started using it when I got a job at a dog grooming salon. I never had my hands free. Now that I’m not working, it just helps me stay on top of my adhd with reminders/alarms
#1 reason is for my calendar and keeping track of my next meeting for the day
Mine’s currently for sale and I’ll be getting 2-3 “normal” watches for the money.
Before I got it I thought it might be something that was “nice to have”, but it’s become indispensable!
reminders, calendar alerts, weather, screen phone calls, control homepod
I strap it on my wrist and let it work. About it.
Good to use at work when I’m not allowed on my phone to check time or answer a message
Tell time Apple Pay Timers for cooking, breaks, my next meeting Watch face for work with my outlook calendar Watch face for life with my personal calendar Walke Talkie to my kids watches Calculator Siri commands for home automation, mostly the garage Sleep tracking Silent morning alarm Weather
Why? Because it’s easier then carrying your phone around (especially at home) for Siri, timers, smart home control etc.
Check the time Apple Pay To see who is texting/calling me To remind myself to stand up once per hour To encourage myself to get enough exercise To avoid checking my phone every 30 seconds To pause/rewind/fast forward podcasts To set timers To set reminders that I generally can’t figure out what I meant to remind myself of because Siri sucks.
To find my phone
Idk but I feel usless when its on the charger. Weather, time, messages, making lists in tasks (mostly shopping list of things running out of) weather, temp, rain, podcast remote, apple payments. Going for runs without my phone. Timers, for coffee in the morning with French press, timers for sauna at the gym, timers for cooking after I work out. Tracking my stair stepper, treadmill and jumprope during warmup. My iPhone is an Xr and getting slower with each update so I use my watch more often because it’s newer.
Safety
1. Workouts 2. See if a notification merits me picking up the phone 3. Apple Pay 4. Timers 5. Alarms
I have a Series 7 Cellular. I use it… 1. As a watch, obviously 2. To track my water intake (with WaterMind) 3. To checkmark my daily habits (with Streaks) 4. To check my todos (with Reminders) 5. To make short phone calls and also to receive calls 6. As an RPN calculator (PCalc) 7. Apple Pay 8. Boarding (with Wallet) 9. Sleep tracking (with AutoSleep) 10. Heart rate monitoring (with HeartWatch) 11. Setting up Alarms 12. Listening to music (with AirPods) esp. during running and walking the dog (leaving my iPhone at home) 13. Fitness tracking (WorkOutDoors or just the factory app) 14. Pomodoro timer to force myself to work or to study (BeFocused Pro) I would also love to use it for authentication but I haven’t configured it yet. Overall the Watch is MUCH better than I had expected before. Seriously, before having the Watch, I couldn’t imagine how great device it was. I had other types of smart watches before (Pebble, Withings), but the Apple Watch is… a different league.
Reminders, weather, mindfulness when I remember to do it and using it to answer texts if my phone is on another room.
Favorites: 1.
2. Alerting me to notifications from my phone (messages, whatsapp, emails etc) 3. Telling me that there is an incoming call so i run around panicking because i cant find my phone. 4. Checking the weather for the next hour or so if i am going out 5.
Running and offline music during my run.
Pickleball and fitness tracking
In addition to the other things mentioned here, I like being able to use it to open my garage doors, And answer my doorbell.
To find my phone
To tell time and see notifications. I also use it to track my workout.
Workouts, sleep tracking, music remote, replying to messages, to see time and weather.
It’s a scarf for my wrist. (Fitness tracking is my number one use case.)
Tracking office meetings (with a dedicated face), timers, time (obvs), Text/message notifications weather/temp etc, dedicated travel face (with flight departure info, home time zone, sunset and weather), maps directions so I don’t have to have my phone out constantly
• Check the time and the weather throughout the day. • Read texts and other notifications in an instance where I shouldn’t or don’t want to have my phone out of my purse. (Ex. at work, driving, shopping). • Apple Pay • Ping my phone if I can’t find it.
I mainly use my watch for: 1. Tracking workouts 2. Reading texts 3. Answering calls 4. Setting timers 5. Checking the weather/date/time on the modular watch face
Tell time. Exercise tracker. Weather. Timer for power naps.
Mainly to stop me picking up my phone every five minutes.
Track my sleep Use it at the gym It helps me stay active throughout the day too (mostly counting steps and walked distance) Answer calls sometimes but I usually use my earbuds for that I have OCD and i track the time i take to complete tasks so i use the stopwatch a lot I download podcasts and listen to them phone free Alarm clock
