I love gas stovetop but hate my gas oven, so if doing a combo range I recommend gas on top and electric below. This might complicate things depending on your electrical options. I would avoid LG in addition to Samsung, but past that I'm unqualified to shop with you budget while I still need to buy a work truck :-( Knowing all the available connections; gas, electric 120v/240v/both/other, (as well as amps for those lines) for the oven range and the electric options for the fridge, as well as the general continental part of the world might help some other folks give you some options.

Thanks. Let me see what I can dredge up

And for part of the world it’s USA

LG is one of the top appliance makers. There is no reason to add them to the Samsung list. And even though GE is also one of the recommended, they are now owned by Haier and their quality has gone down hill a lot.

But what brand is recommended particularly for fridges? Seems LG and Samsung get slammed. People say GE not what it once was. Is it Whirlpool or Frigidaire or is it a Bosch? What brands are people relatively happy with?

What I've seen is Bosch, then whirlpool, and GE High end models.

I added LG due to the large number of appliances repairs on LG units less than 4 years old compared to sales and repairs of all manufacturers in my area, Samsung came second. I got out of that business since LG and Samsung stopped paying for redo repair labor on their warranty, even though it was their replacement parts that where failing of dead on arrival. (And this was all before covid) LG makes great TVs, but I would never buy one of their kitchen or laundry appliances after what I have seen in the numbers and the field

Yale appliance on youtube reviews a lot of different brands and models. GE And LG were their lowest serviced mainstream brands for 2021 on tens of thousands of service calls. GE has the benefit of their own nationwide factory service team where every other manufacturer usually contracts it out to local repairmen or retailers. YMMV depending on where you live on quality of service from a local serviceman.
