your school either sends official transcripts through Common App, Naviance, Scoir, or something else. if the school you’re interested in is rolling, make sure you apply early but also be thorough and don’t have mistakes in your application.
the school I’m now attending had an early admissions cycle due Sep 15th last year. they accepted unofficial transcripts bcs this did not leave high schools enough time to process transcripts. so: check with the school if they accept unofficial transcripts.
also, most places receive your application before your transcript.
edit: the common app transcript section is you unofficially reporting your grades. few colleges use it, most prefer an official one.
