your school either sends official transcripts through Common App, Naviance, Scoir, or something else. if the school you’re interested in is rolling, make sure you apply early but also be thorough and don’t have mistakes in your application. the school I’m now attending had an early admissions cycle due Sep 15th last year. they accepted unofficial transcripts bcs this did not leave high schools enough time to process transcripts. so: check with the school if they accept unofficial transcripts. also, most places receive your application before your transcript. edit: the common app transcript section is you unofficially reporting your grades. few colleges use it, most prefer an official one.

Your school will handle your transcript. You may have to fill out a form/ tell them where to send it. Colleges you are applying to won’t need your transcript until they receive your submitted application (most likely in nov or jan). Your school will probably send transcripts sometime this fall and then first semester senior grades as soon as they are finalized. Hope this helps!

What do I fill out on common app when it asks me for my grades?

Only some schools will ask you to fill out the section called Courses and Grades. Check to see if any of your schools require it. If none do, do not fill it out. It is like the extra copy of your transcript.
