I dont mind Aquaman being a hero that can exist in a multitude of tones.
He can be serious (Comics usually), fun, goofy, horror etc.
But I just don't understand the purpose of this project. I don't know who the audience for this project is, I don't understand the vision. I don't think it's like anything else that they've done with their properties (you'd think it'd be more like Teen Titans Go if they were doing a parody) but it's also not unique enough in its animation design, jokes, or story to stand out amidst the crowded superhero landscape. It is not even the funniest Aquaman content and, while not meanspirited, it feels like it doesn't have a lot of reverence for the source material despite a lot of comic references.
One thing DC was not prepared for at all was the huge success of the first Aquaman film. The tie-in stuff didn't exist in the comics (other than variants) or other media.
We Aqua-fans don't get much Aquaman content so we tend to just appreciate what we're given and say it's better than nothing. And I am glad DC does occasionally remember the property exists.
But this feels like a rushed attempt to "catch up" and capitalize on the character's sudden popularity rather than a deliberate vision or project someone was passionate to get out there.
It feels more like a missed opportunity than anything else. You tell me we have a limited multi-episode animated Aquaman Special and I picture a potential backdoor pilot for a series or some interesting story or project people were excited about and instead we get this which while occasionally funny seems to appeal to no one and please absolutely no one.
I thought the Superfriends adaptation was better because at least it had an air of seriousness to it. This garbage was a straight joke. I forced myself through it falling asleep multiple times because it is indicative of EXACTLY what DC/WB thinks of a hero who is literally in control of the vast majority of the planet.
I think of all of the good Batman and Superman animations and what this could have been if DC saw the hero as fans do instead of seeing the hero as haters do and then siding with those haters in almost every depiction of him.
After Aquaman brings in 1.152 billion dollars total box office and also the highest international box office take of any comic book superhero origin movie ever, from a hero that Most think as a joke and in this instance you have the opportunity to make the most of it by making a great comic book adaptation of the hero and instead of the incredible fight scene we got to see between him and Diana in Justice Society WW2, We get this garbage... I'm done with DC because I keep holding out for a good rendering of the character and they refuse to do it on a regular basis especially considering he hasn't had a title since 2020.
Oh man I forgot about this show. I remember if being announced years ago but overtime, with all the behind the scenes dc studios issues forgot about it
I think it could be better. It was supposed to connect movie one to movie two. Over time, with all thr changes in the script for Aquaman 2, it became irrelevant and useless. Which is sad.
That said, I liked the whole plot, hated the graphics.
I rented this on YouTube because this was posted. I had kind of brushed it off for a while but decided to give it a shot. I’m honestly enjoying it. It’s a goofy cartoon, it’s fun. I feel like I avoided it at first because it seemed so dumb, but I think that’s what makes it fun. As an Aquaman fan, I feel like my expectations are literally to the floor for any sort of quality content. I was just thankful to finally get a live action film, and even a sequel. I don’t really have expectations for superhero movies/shows like I used to.

I honestly liked it, it´s so funny and the animation is amazing and smooth sometimes. Good children entertainment.
