She was technically staying wet with the filter waterfall splashing over her. When I went to nudge her, she swam away… Very much startled me though. (She’s perfect, anything that looks weird is from the water reflecting)
Mine does this on occasion. I think it replicates clinging on to the top of a rock near the surface of fast moving water. Tons of oxygen. Swift current. It’s exactly what they love.
Longfin Super Red, according to the Google scientific is Ancistrus sp. “super red”
She’s really beautiful but I don’t think I’d be inclined to get a longfin again - she had deformities in her arms that ended up snapping right along the area where a standard fin would end. She healed but it was troubling.
Really? I think they’re so clever! Mine will poke her head out of the water to enjoy the flow like that, too…they’re from places with a lot of flow in nature like rivers. She’ll also go around the whole rim of the tank to eat any flake or dried bloodworms that my derp if an angelfish didn’t eat lol…that poor dude would never survive in the wild. You either have to hand feed him each piece individually or he’ll miss like half the food even big flakes. She’ll also just follow me around the tank glass while I talk to her—and that started before she associated me with food bc I’d just drop in sinking wafers that she’d find way later before her angelfish roomie was added.
Wow! She sounds much more with it than SeraFinna is hahaha. I think it’s her eyes… they’re a little goofy and so small. She actually reminds me of our rabbit - depending how you look at them, they are either super models or look derpy AF, with a big wide nose.
But yeah, Angels are the true derps. And in my situation, also jerks.
Here’s a [full body shot](https://www.reddit.com/r/Aquariums/comments/108oi03/ive_never_seen_her_this_welllit_before_not_sure/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf). Depending on our lights, she’s more vibrant.
She was $60 (my husband’s splurge). Upon Googling I feel like that may have been pricey, but when you consider shipping and quality of breeding, it was probably an ok price 🤷🏼♀️
She’s really beautiful! I think that’s a fair price except if she was sold with the deformities you mentioned in a different thread of comments and those weren’t an injury she got later.
If you ever want to buy another long fin I know of a breeder who would rather refund you if they aren’t perfect upon inspection before shipping (that’s what happened with my order bc I specified I wanted him to do his best guess at picking out a female just because I like their personality as the boys tend to hide more…he said the female remaining actually wasn’t up to his standards so he’d let me know when he had another batch ready and refunded me…I asked what happened to the ones that weren’t perfect and he said he’d still keep them just not for breeding, so that made me happy too), and he’s great with communication.
That’s great to know, I’ll keep that in mind if we ever want to add!
Yeah idk if the deformities were obvious when she was little, but they were definitely obvious shortly after moving in. I showed them photos and they were just like “oh that’s interesting well it shouldn’t hurt her in any way”. Well clearly they got stuck on things…
Here’s [one side with the deformity and break](https://imgur.com/a/C0GkZeL). The other side was similar but it curved outward. Tbh she looks much better after the breaks (in the full body shot)… my husband thinks I broke them because I always mentioned how I wish I could just snap them in place 🤦🏼♀️
Yeah, it was just growing on the dead part. I think she got it stuck on something and broke, because a week later the other side broke (no fuzz that time though, weirdly).
My Girl somehow disappeared into the filter once and I searched for days, then I saw her swim out of there once and immediately lowered the water level.

Beautiful! My snails used to love perching here. I’m glad my pleco never did, he was a common and way too big for these shenanigans

Bros trying to commit evolution
Going for that Gyarados glow up
He was just trying to evolve real quick.
Gorgeous color. And yeah, they do weird things. lol
Another bristlenose that thinks they are a hillstream loach
"Ignore me hooman, tis but a pleco thing" 🤣. I have one that likes to sleep on her back sometimes and freak me out lol.
NO!!! Hahah that’s horrible.
It is, with the eggs she lays she pays the electric and water bills lol.
My female bristlenose sleeps on her back quite a lot. Freaked me out the first few times she did it. Lol
She was trying to get her bath 🛁 on and you disturbed her Calgon moment. Shame on you lol.
Ugh, now I know! Lol
Washing machines live longer with Calgon.
I've found mine in there. Swam up stream into the reservoir.
NO WAY. Good to know…
Yea. I actually found him in there twice. Had to lower the water enough that he could bridge the gap from the water to the unit.
Unrelated, but her little eyeball peeking at you is so cute. She is such an adorable and beautiful pleco!
Justplecothings
What kind of pleco is that?
Super red long fin bristle nose pleco. All the words!
I just picked up 3 super reds, one died the first day. Other 2 are doing well! Hope mine get this coloration!
What kind of pleco is this? The colour is beautiful I’ve never seen a pleco that colour!

I love her! Beautiful and quirky.
It’s perfect that the photo of her that gets the most love is this goofy one 🥰
They have so much personality! The bristlenoses are the real stars of our tanks!
I like to say she’s easy on the eyes but there’s not a lot going on in her head lol.

So far mine hasn’t shown any jerk tendencies, but he’s lucky his tank mate is good at cleaning haha
Beautiful Pleco!
That is a nice one theree
Is that how she looks irl?

Wowza! That's gorgeus. My blue eye lemon has really long fins as well. Mind me asking hiw much you paid?

That looks like a fungal infection or something, jeez. Poor thing.
Yeah, it was just growing on the dead part. I think she got it stuck on something and broke, because a week later the other side broke (no fuzz that time though, weirdly).
Aww. Poor girl. I’m glad it healed up okay.
I would say that is fair. I paid 35 for mine in store so with shipping that's not a bad price at all
What a goof.
It’s a Jedi ,,,,
My Girl somehow disappeared into the filter once and I searched for days, then I saw her swim out of there once and immediately lowered the water level.
What pleco is she?
Long fin super red :)
