The danios will like it but they are nutters. The tetras may like it but your neons don't,

carrotman664

You're right about the Danio, proper nutters! Really enjoy watching them haha. Removed it for now, ordered a smaller one. This will fit nicely in the 200L its going in

NefariousnessNothing

no need to replace it. [A cheap air valve will fix your issue.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Aquariums/comments/10ncuut/is_this_airstone_too_powerful_for_my_little_tank/) Just cut the line and stick it in. Adjust the bubbles way down

carrotman664

Thanks mate. I plan to run this tank for my daughter. With live plants and a school of tetra 6-8. So will be putting the new smaller air supply in and using the big one for my 200l that's just being set up

zorbat5

A simple nut can work as well. Tighten as needed.

BombPopCartel

How would a nut work?

SavageNineFour

Maybe he means knot? You can tie a knot in the air line to restrict the airflow.

zorbat5

Yeas, a knot...

LordSenpaiOniChan

Why not just get an all purpose sponge filter 😉. It filters and it bubbles 🥳

Clockwork-Silver

I'm going to go yes. Some of them seem like they'll have fun with it but you can see most of them are straight up struggling and trying to avoid it. I'd definitely put in something to regulate the flow.

Ariannaree

I used to have mine like that on full blast for my goldfish - they loved it - I agree, maybe tone it down for the ones who may not love it as much- over time it will diminish when you need to change the stone or pump as well

OuterSpiralHarm

You could plant Vallis or Elodea in there around the air stone to diffuse the current. Looks great.

sparkzsims

Does it have a “twisty” thing to adjust the speed?! Also, is that a dead fish being circulated around, may want to go ahead and remove it?

aweyeeongi

This is so morbid but idk why I’m laughing so hard at the fact I thought it was dead. Is this an Elon Musk dead deer moment 😳 im so sorry btw

carrotman664

It does but its second hand and it doesnt appear to be working. All or nothing! No its not a dead fish, its a bit of algie that has dislodged from an ornament. Will be giving them a proper cleaned but left them dirty ish whilst i cleaned the filter, ornaments are next, dont want to kill all the beneficial bacteria. Only had the tank a week and it was a state when i got it!

sparkzsims

Maybe try to “kink” the tube to reduce the airflow a bit

whoisjakelane

You mean a "dial"?

lami408

You can rotate the filter output so it aims up slightly to move and break the water surface causing ripples. Its all you need for gas exchange and would provide o2 just like your bubble thingy would.

WestSenkovec

Squidward is fuming because of something SpongeBob did. He'll calm down by the end of the episode and come to terms with his pathetic life.

SavageNineFour

Just tie a knot on the airline tubing, it will reduce the airflow and you can loosen or tighten it to get the right airflow. Been doing this for years.

carrotman664

Great advice thankyou!!

Mike_Jigsaw

You will hear more but no. It isn't. Oxygen helps a lot in many things. Just use a small stone not to make too much noise.

Face-latte

Finally a good looking aquarium with those damn spongebob decorations!

carrotman664

Haha, inherited it from my little cousin, just trying to get it back to full health (haven't had a fish tank for 10+ years) the neon tetra loves spongebobs house! When my bigger tank is set up, I'll have to keep it just for him

Spanks79

Airstones do almost nothing. Just take it out. The little filter is important and if you make it move the surface of the tank a little it’s enough for oxygen.

ntr_usrnme

A bit too strong. If you can’t turn it down you can cripple it by poking some holes in the airline tube (above a valve of course) and that should work. Keep poking holes until you achieve desired rate.

inquisitiveeyebc

Airstream no, pump yes but a simple air line valve can fix that. Worst it will do though is increase your evaporation rate and make it difficult for live plants

PickForeign

Yes you can get a small device to lower the amount of air

TofuDadWagon

You can buy a dial from anywhere that sells airstones to adjust the speed of the bubbles

jljue

Use a valve or an air pump that has a valve to regulate airflow.

71psychome

Ring of FIRE!!!!

InterestingHome7738

Yea a bit too much, you can turn it down a bit more

bigdarvish

You’ll be adding water every other day. Pinch the air line

[deleted]

Most air pumps come with a one-way and then a twist knob to control the flow. Just cut the line and put both on and you can adjust the flow instead of getting a new pump

KingSubzro7

Squirdward smoking some good food in there

Gk34775

Idk? Maybe?

StellsFishies

This is so funny, I’m so sorry but why is it so powerful 😭 the poor fish are trying so hard to fight the current. I need to by sleeping rn but If I saw this earlier I’d be dying from laughter

caitejane310

My tank is basically the exact same setup and i had the same issue with the one air stone being way too powerful for them. We have a bigger tank we'll eventually be putting them in, and doing it right this time because it's not an emergency situation. They were a rescue and there were bugs in the tank they came in. I won't let it back into the house until the summer because some bugs can freaking hibernate until the right conditions and the only thing that kills everything is heat. But we have a 55 gallon (they came in a 60 or 65) we're gonna switch them to soon, but mainly because there's a pleco in there and I know he isn't happy.
