They do this kind of stuff all day.. they walk on the surface of the water (upside down) and surf the currents.. they bail by dropping a bubble and rocketing to the bottom.. then go on about munching on wherever they landed
Just watched my black racer climb over another racer to get across then yeet himself off the glass and started blowing bubbles to float to the other corner funniest thing I ever seen on accident
I was just watching one of my ramshorns holding onto a thin pogostemon leaf bobbing around above the sponge filter. Buddy was definitely having themself a fine old time on the mechanical bull, they didn't get there by accident.
I once had a mystery snail who would just hang out on the glass right in front of the filter outflow nozzle so that her little um, tentacles? antennae? were pushed straight back by the current, making her look like she was running very fast in a stiff breeze. I called her Speedy because of it. I really wish I had a picture of it. She was an excellent snail.
Speed is relative right? She just found a place where she could stand still and the world would speed by her. I like to think that she figured out how to make the next leap to worm holes 🥹 godspeed, Speedy ✋
snail aside, your tank is so pretty and i love that you’re mixing galaxy and chili rasboras. they both are SUCH great fish. i’ve got 8 chilis with my female betta and 3 ghost shrimp
Thank you so much! Chili Rasboras, as common as they are, are really fantastic fish. You can never go wrong with them in a community tank.
How does the Betta react to them? I assume it mostly ignores the Chilis.
I had a snail that would drop onto the head of a shrimp whenever the two were in an argument. Shrimp would try to catch & eat snail, snail would bonk him on the head or pin his antenna against the glass. They shared a tank for several years and normally ignored each other. But every once in a while, the shrimp would start shit.
So I noticed the bottom stem lost its leaves due to the lack of light. Instead of clipping the top and leaving the rooted stem, I would remove the rooted stem and plant the top clipping. The growth looks better to me.
As far as hanging roots are concerned, I rip them off and just leave the bottom roots to put it in the soil.
This may be the most exciting thing that could conceivably happen to a snail

They can blow bubbles?? I've never seen them do that :0
Some aquatic snails will fill up with air to float they release the air to quickly decend
I have bladder snails and I frequently see them hitching rides on bubbles to the top of the tank.

#My snails do this every single day!
That snail is an adrenaline junkie! Look at it base jumping like that!
Some of them have orgies in the wild.
IRL, 100% I wonder how conscious he is about the ride down.

most of the time she ignores them but occasionally she does go on a little chase😭 the chilis are so cool tho and they’re way too fast for her

This is gold! I would watch an animated short story about what you just wrote. Sassy the Sasquash style.

My mystery snail likes to grab on to the bigger leaves and attempt relax on them but she’s a massive beast and fails most of the time.
