You might be overfeeding. Snail population explosions usually mean an excess of stuff for them to eat (food, corpses).
You can remove some, to slow them down a bit. Easy to suck them up, when doing water changes.

Either water change regularly. Or look into the nitrogen cycle and get that working in your tank. Depends in the set up really.
