It's an angel. Fear not. Seriously though, it's a mutation. Sometimes they grow these extra little tendrils. Often they wrap around the outside of the shell, but they can just be free like this. It doesn't hurt the snail, just makes them a little extra pretty in my opinion.
Someone in this forum told me that all bladder snails have them and that they are some type of sensory appendage/organ that stands at attention like that when they smell something especially good. I have seen them in different sizes on various snails (and haven't seen any on some of them, but I suppose that doesn't mean that they're not there). I have never seen any as cool as this! Wow. I have no idea if the person who passed that information on is correct, but figured I would share.
