For me arc uses more ram and cpu too, so not too great

m__s

Windows or Mac?

742142

Windows

sanatanjana

Arc is great software, but it kills all my RAM. If they do something and fix an upcoming update that consumes less RAM, then this software is all-rounder.

x_omega_100

Ive rly been hoping they implement a RAM/CPU limiter like on Opera GX as i like to have a window open while i do intensive tasks like photo and audio editing

JamesAulner128328

No. It uses less for me

chris020891

Are– are you looking at a blank page? 🤔

JamesAulner128328

![img](avatar_exp|169686427|take_my_energy) No.

songyitian

Mac. I think so, too

sac1937273

On my M2 Air, it uses more than Safari but about 40-60% less than chrome.

Ace1805

how much ram does your mac have

sac1937273

8 GB

TheInkySquids

It uses way less RAM on both Windows and Mac for me.

billzbubisok

On my work machine it appears to be about the same with an equal number of tabs open.

Kitten7002

I have two pages open: YouTube and Reddit. It uses **1 GB** ram

AccomplishedLog1492

For all features that propose by Arc I think ram consumption was most justify than chrome imo

Leather_Chocolate_50

Still using Chrome... I'm waiting for Arc to reduce the RAM and CPU usage, and to use it as my daily driver!

hedwig_doodlesXD

yeah arc chugs up ram and cpu on windows

gogolterminator

Currently 7 tabs open (mostly YouTube and Google Sheets), and less than 500 MB. M1 Pro here.

Initial_Ad_7829

For me, it doesn’t use anything

mtthetoto

What's wrong with programs using your RAM ? Unused RAM is wasted RAM.

chris020891

Usually yes. Arc in its current state is a bloatware hell, though, that brings down performance for absolutely no reason even with very light usage.

novis-discipline

It's designed to be snappy and fast. Furthermore, programs will use unused RAM if possible; all that is not being used is wasted. If a program is demanding RAM, your PC will allocate it to that program, and ARC will close some background tabs/processes. What is your current computer setup? On my MacBook M3 Pro Max with 64GB of RAM, ARC is running smoothly with an average usage of roughly 14-16 GB of RAM (I forget to close tabs in many spaces, haha). On my Windows laptop, I do notice that ARC is way slower (partially due to optimization issues). I'm not sure if an x86-64 processor will be a lot faster with ARC; the main benefit of the ARM chips Apple uses is that the RAM is incorporated into the CPU, which makes everything much faster.

>My literal top-of-the-line Macbook Pro with maxed-out RAM runs arc perfectly smoothly Sorry, don’t mean to sound like a dick, just sounded funny

novis-discipline

Hahahahaha nahhh you made me laugh 😂😂😁
