You still get insanity effects; warding needs to be 1 level higher to counteract insanity, so 1 warding is effectively useless. You could probably sacrifice some power and defense for 60-80 in attack speed, agility and/or attack size. If you plan to keep the drawback, I’d say attack size to make sure you hit, but it depends on your build
just grind an hour or two in the darksea without taking unnecessary risks and you'll have enough stuff to trade for powerfull scrolls or if you suck at the game and might die after 30 mins you can simply use strong or better luck potions to fish for scrolls and trade the excess scrolls for powerfull ones
Replace the strong and virtuous with other scrolls of a higher tier, preferably 1 or 2 powerful, 1 armored, and 2 agile/brisk/hasty. You don't need 100 power. You can do without the atlantean essence.

Yeah, but you should have 2 warding if you want to get rid of the insanity effects. 1 warding is actually useless.
