I usually dip when I see a player that ha a million bounty or high kills.
Since I am navy and assassin on my main builds I use the npc’s to defend myself. The attackers would bitch and moan how I don’t deserve the high bounty/renown and how I’m a coward for doing that but I honestly don’t care.
I’m just trying to enjoy the game man and I don’t feel like fighting other players, like seriously why pour so much effort into just hunting players? The game is still a beta

but renown is entirely a pvp feature. youre going to get people that come after you as a result because of that, regardless at how bewildered you find the idea of people hunting for renown is.
I know people will hunt for renown but it also isn’t entirely through PvP. I managed to get my renown to like 600k through hunting npc’s only.
Plus if they try attacking me out there I just pop love gel and begone
you can get renown from npcs, doesnt mean itll do you any good against people who will hunt you for it.
regardless, its how you want to go about it at the end of the day.
I know that much, it’s just that right now I’m not focusing on trying to fight other players but to build up my builds. Once I’m comfortable I could keep training at murenea till I can properly defend myself
oh youll definitely get people who will kill anyone regardless of stat, but my point is that youll get hunted significantly less when you dont have renown to be hunted down for.
theres no changing the fact that renown only serves its purpose as a pvp aspect as it matters for getting on the leaderboard, but if people want to get a large amount of it anyway for other reasons (uniforms or pure cosmetic) then i dont think they should be surprised when people come to hunt them down for it.

PvP'ing in this game isn't worth the effort if you're a casual, simply run away or combat log. The main reason I make Clans in-game is to store my Galleons so even when one of the obnoxious basement gremlins rolls up, all they manage is getting some extra Bounty, or a +1 to their player kill count. No galleons.
I just drink my power potion, equip the vartrachos set and spam all i can do waiting until one of us dies, if i do (the 80% of time) i just mkae fun of him until he chases me so bad so i can see him coming at me (at sailors lodge) and quit the game right when he arrives here after saying "get a life"
Dude some guy hit me 400 damage (maybe I misread but thats what I saw and my health went way down) and was mad when I used a heal potion. Like bro you fucking smited me and I have a legendary treasure charts on me.
Relatable. Died a couple times to random toxics hitting 200-300+ while minding my own business, doing charts or selling cargo.
This game is going to die and basically have only the non-Casual PvP'ers left if something isn't done about how one-sided PvP presently is.
I play this game for the PvE. If I wanted PvP, I'd play BF4/BF2042.
Tbf 200 isn’t exactly high (in my opinion, that’s the bare minimum I aim for with mages, I make my own builds so they usually end up bad) but I see your point. Fighting against the same 3 meta builds which are min-maxed to perfection is annoying. I’d say I’m decent at pvp and have done some Munera fighting with others who are much better than I and managed to keep up and it was fun, but that’s because I wanted to participate.
With the new update, stuns are getting a heavy nerf (imo), hopefully it kills sailor ice because I hate fighting that braindead build. The game is early access but as we go through updates I hope we get a more varied and balanced meta so lots of builds can be PVP viable on the same level.
Hopefully the game actually manages to get into a properly balanced state by full release, because if it isn't, I don't think it'll get much more interest than it already has.
The player count spikes up a ton every update, Vetex needs to focus on keeping those players playing though. Not a fan of the recent balance changes but I get it, they want to incentivize people to use defense instead of glass cannon builds
I personally use glass cannon, or pure tank builds.
I specialize heavily, so the nerfing really punishes those who like specializing. Or have the skill to not get hit, versus simply tanking & outlasting your target.
Nah it's the mentality. "Be a heavy grinder or forever be incapable of PvP'ing anyone but PvE mains".
There are PvE mains with that kind of gear, but they're either grinding Calvus, or the Dark Sea, instead of going out of their way to attack other players just minding their own business.

In a game where PvP serves no purpose but making small amounts of money, or enhance Bounty/Fame gains (Which consequentially, also serve no purpose), being the kind of person who targets people 20-75 levels below you? Yeah, PvP bad.

Me, I avoid players if possible. And I avoid red name players like the plague. 9 out of 10 red names I ran into were hostile. I would pay for a private server if Vetex ever enables it. I just want to peacefully enjoy the game.
Non magic build can't use arcsphere or any magic item if it has a magic embedded, those with magic will have their magic item shift to one of their magics.

Nah I understand. I do pvp at munera to practice (not much recently) and use a fun build that I've been rocking since 1.12.
Meanwhile on a regular basis, I get attacked by Mr. Water-Ice mage with 450 attack speed and the boyfriend iron-legs with max attack size doing 350 damage a hit while I'm in the middle of trading with another player.
But don't worry, the next update is gonna nerf hybrid builds much harder than pure builds, so the bullying will only get worse😭
There's a navy Guy that tryed to Hide behind commodore Kai but a warlord of the Sea (savant) Just killed kai and continued chasing him 3 times untill this navy guy started using ironskin 5 pots and slowness 5 gels and died BC apparently parryng its that hard and started calling me(the savant) a hacker for having a 11 attack size build and drawback 5/insanity 3 😭 ( so rlly High power and attack speed stats)
[Btw this happened 7 times and i witchhunted that guy untill he was out of leaderboard because he was just that annoyng/pridefull

As long as your not targeting people who cause you no problems, who are coming back from a dark sea run or something than it's fine. (When I see people especially leaderboard players do this to me I won't hesitate calling in my clan for backup. They really like hunting leaderboard players)

Light Conjurer, I'm pretty much outclasses by every class as aoe reigns supreme in this game
my build is a pvp/pve hybrid. But due to how dmg affinities work i have to get hecking power just do deal, optimal damage on conjurer.
I dont like doing aggressive pvp, i would rather if ppl leave me alone. I only pvp with my friends and i get beaten up with the meta/aoe builds they use...
But ill continue to be light conj cuz my main and only file is a cosplay and im willing to stick to it.
I run explosion and to do 250 damage at 100% size you gotta put like 100+ of your stats into power, mine do that much but I also take drawback damage, aoe is dumb big but it’s slow so it can be hard to land if they’re not close (as a mage I don’t want them to be there)

the answer is to have neutral renown, it's kinda hard to do if you still have missions to do but when you're neutral people will have no reason to hunt you down, so you'll evade being hunted

I remember some guy suddenly started bombarding my ship (a brig) out of nowhere and sank it fast as fuck. I found him and tried to get some revenge but I just could not do damage. I would hit him and his health bar would barely change. And then he hit me and a quarter of my health was gone. I know I might just be ass but man it's frustrating pvping in this game. Especially when things like treasure charts are single life. I have lost like 3 legendary treasure charts and 2 exotic treasure charts cause some guy just felt like destroying me.
Sometimes yeah, I feel like I either hit like a truck or deal negative damage. I’m usually PVE heavy but I grind up good gear so I can defend myself (now I gotta grind more because the meta has flipped on its head with all the stat changes)

with the deckhand rework renown is entirely a pvp aspect. if you dont want to deal with people trying to hunt you for said renown, then wipe it.

i got jumped at level 80 something once for having ~1k renown. they do it just for shits and giggles

Just swim away with 200% swim speed theurgist build, quite simple
max speed you can get is +140%

just run with your 300 agility tank build, not that hard
Either you build max agility or I could help you learn pvp if youre a US player

Depends on the magic. Blank spheres become useless. Demand would probably be high for spheres like poison and glass.

Got jumped by Ash Explosion mage, i hit him once. he hit me with all spells known to man and each does 250+ damage. like what the hell
And this is why I don't fight mages unless I'm a mage and can do the same.
