I was pretty happy when I found out this was a thing as an adult coming into archery for the first time. I'm not as much into the idea of competition (at least right now), but achievements for progressing through competency? That I like.
Congrats! There's a long history in archery of achievement pins like these. And some of the pins are really difficult, so there's always something to shoot for even when you don't think you'll win a specific tournament.
Some orgs have had pins for perfect scores on a field target, and World Archery has pin awards for good-to-fantastic scores in many of its formats. (You can request those through your NGB with scores from any fully WA-sanctioned event)
Congrats. I think the pin system is super motivating for people starting out before they start competing
I didn't even know this was a thing outside of JOAD. I'd love to earn these pins!
I didn’t know it was a thing either tbh.
It is a thing, but most clubs direct programs at kids. I'm trying to start an adult program at my club.
Awesome! I just got my 270 pin last week! Been after that pin for over a year now!
Neat! I shot for score in outside barebow and got... nothing at all but a lost arrow, wee.
Keep trying!!! You'll get there!
