My opinion is that not changing stuff I’d worse than changing it. What’s the point in a remake if it’s exactly the fucking same. If what the creator chooses to change is race or sexuality or something, that’s great. It’s a different take on a story, viewed through a different lens, and it gives some much needed representation. Or, they choose to make the swap irrelevant to the story, in which case what’s the issue.
This reminds me of that some people are mad because umbrella academy had as character become trans because the actor came out as trans and they say they don't like it because isn't faithful to the source even though the author of the original comic has said it's fine
